I’ll give this restaurant a failing rate. I wish I could give no stars. We ate here to celebrate my friend’s daughter’s graduation. There were around 30 of us. 13 ordered sodas and 5 teapots of tea. Without asking, the waiters gave us 9 teacups. When my friend paid, they charged them for 22 sodas. The rude waiter(he yelled at my friend) said they counted the soda cups and teacups not the teapots. Our friend said that it’s not right. They should count the teapots not the teacups. In the first place, we did not ask for teacups. They served them, not knowing that they’ll take advantage of us. So dear customers who are considering of eating at Hibachi Grill Buffet in West Covina, think 100 times before going, and be watchful. You might be the next victim. The waiters are rude and do not know how to apologize.

It’s a cheap, AYCE Asian buffet so I already knew from the beginning that the food wasn’t going to be anything to write home about. The service was actually pretty decent for a buffet place. Usually they just give you your drinks and ignore you, but they came around a lot refilling drinks and picking up plates regularly. So, 2 stars just for that. I tried a little bit of everything and didn’t really like anything. I felt bad wasting all the food, but I just can’t justify the calories. The chow mein tasted floury, the chicken teriyaki was slightly sour(yuck), and the desserts tasted stale. Just take your money and eat somewhere else. Literally anywhere else. It’s better that you spend $ 15 on a meal with a definitive end than $ 15 on a buffet like this stuffing yourself with terrible, high caloric food.

This place is alright not the best but it’s ok. There really isn’t a wide variety towards different foods but it’s mainly fish foods but I guess that’s what their main attractions are for food. Their bathrooms were dirty which was gross to me because there was dirty napkins and toilet paper was on the floor. The stalls are close to each other to the point where you can see the other person using the bathroom. The least they can do is throw the trash out nobody wants to see that. I’m pregnant so I had to go a few times. It has good service tho which made it better for me. I’m not sure if I would go again since it was fairly far from where we live we just wanted to try a new one out. 3 stars out of 5

DON’T BOOKRESERVATIONSHERE! ZEROSTARSIF I COULD. I had booked a reservation for a birthday party a week in advance and when the day came, they had apparently, not just double booked, but triple booked my first hour! The so-called manager made no effort to accommodate my guest that were arriving. I asked the manager to let my guests sit and eat in the regular dining area, just to have him ignore my request and walk away. In the frustration, I just told my guests to go ahead and find a seat on their own and start eating. I tried to get some type of resolution to the mistake they had made, but all the manager would say is «I’m so confused, I don’t know why they did this».(triple booked). Oh, I knew why it happened. According to the manager, the employee at the front desk that took my reservation was just a helper from the market across the parking lot! Why would he be working the front desk making reservations?! That’s the double booking, the triple booking was because they accepted a party of aboit 100 people! 3 tour busses full. Yes, they wanted the money vs keeping a booked reservation. Very unprofessional. Highly irritating. Okay, after an hour and 15 minutes had passed, we finally got our private room. to start decorating! I asked a server to please move this cart of dirty dishes, cups, utensils, and trash that was next to one of our tables. He just moved it next to another table. Another argument ensued there. 15 minutes later, we had the guests come in with their plates and some guests haven’t even started to eat due to there not being any more room on the regular dining floor. 2nd hour into my 3 hour reservation, not including the 1st hour of waiting, thing were going good. Server was prompt with service and drinks. But then, 3 employees come in with a large container of green beans, poured everything out onto one of the tables, and they started cutting the green beans there! Keep in mind this is suppose to be a private room. Disrespectful and unprofessional. Argued with the manager. He had them clean up and leave the room. Of course not without angry faces and smirks. Lastly, the manager didn’t want to honor the price-per-person I was given during the time I made the reservation. Even though I was given a written receipt of the price, date and time for my reservation, his argument was that the price was too cheap! Well, that’s what I was given by your helper from the market. After a few minutes of going back and forth and a phone call to the helper from the market, he finally gave me the price I was originally given. Yes, I shouldn’t have paid the full amount, but my son’s God father wanted to pay for the party and he didn’t want to deal with them anymore, and really, I didn’t either. Needless to say, never again will we be returning to this no-star-deserving place. Pathetic customer service

*ROACHINFESTED* If i was able to post 0 stars i would. The service was slow for drinks. Literally waited more than 20 mins to get a drink refill. This place is absolutely disgusting. Found roaches in the mens bathroom. If theres roaches in the mens bathroom, im pretty sure there’s gonna be more around and about because it was a nest in the bathroom stall. Never eating here ever again.

Not bad for $ 12.00 weekend lunch. Food taste pretty good. But if the temperature can be abit hotter it will be perfect. They have lots of choices of food, also Mongolia Bbq cook to order & dessert. Not like other buffet places that controls on their food. This place They’ll keep adding/filling up the food. Will not leave any trays empty. Service was good. Waiter takes the plates once is done. Also fill drinks without you asking for it.

Came here for an end-of-year gathering. First things I noticed was that it was clean and HUGE. Too huge. It seemed like a pretty far walk to get to all the stations but maybe it’s good so that you can walk off the food you ate before getting more? The party was fun but the food was not good at all… as in lacking flavor.

To be honest, this place probably has the highest quality out of all the Chinese buffets I went to in Orange County. It was thanksgiving and my family decided to drive up to West Covina to have lunch and invite my boyfriend who is a local from there. I went here the year before to have lunch with him and his mom and the food was mediocre, but apparently it’s under a new management now and it surprisingly STEPPEDUPTHEIRGAME. The hot foods were fresh and were so full of flavor. They even have turkey there too which was SOSOSOGOOD. Their service was attentive and the environment was kept clean at all times. They have their usual«sushi» bar which I never eat from and dessert section. They also have mongolian bbq which most buffets I know don’t offer so that was a plus. It was made to order too so you know it’s fresh on the plate. Sadly, this buffet is so far from my area, but if I ever get the chance to come back to West Cov, I wouldn’t mind eating here again. it’s also decently cheap so you will definitely get your money’s worth!

When this place opened it was great. Everything was fresh and tasted good. I went today as soon as it opened and several of the items were old. Yuck! The only good part was the grill to order section. The guy was friendly and he cooked everything perfectly. However I won’t be going back.

We dined there last night, a Very busy night, but all the food was hot, VERY Good, Fresh WELL stocked, and even though it was late the staff made sure we were happy, that everything we were craving were available, and if it wasn’t they made for us. Staff was nice, very clean… Let me tell you I’m Very Picky when it comes to cleanliness, We were there late so we got to see the staff clean up for the day, they even moved All the furniture, cleaned the walls, picked up the cushions, cleaned the top of the food bar’s, and they use bleach Wow, Wow I’ve never been SO happy to see a restaurant Deserve an A + 110 Percent… Fantastic I Love it! And both men, and women’s restrooms We’re Always Clean!!! Thank you for a Wonderful Grandparents Day Sunday night, Thank you for making our visit Special as Always.

For the price, ya just can’t beat it for all you can eat. Face it, where can you get seafood, sushi, pizza, french fries, shrimp, chicken wings, multi variety of soups, desserts and much more for this great price. Humungous seating area to accomondate large crowds, but they like to sit you right next to other people, despite the vast seating area. We moved further away, because of really loud talking people. Sssssh, I don’t wanna hear your conversation. The service is really good on the refill of sodas, however they tend to forget to pick up the dirty dishes on our table, hence the 11 dish high tower we made. The place is immaculate inside and is a great spot for us to try again.

2.5 stars… I’ll round up. This place is okay for the price. I mean, what do you expect for $ 7.59??? It’s a buffet, you’re gonna get cheap buffet food. Good thing I kept my expectations low, I really knew what I was getting myself into when I agreed to come here. My aunt and uncle like this place because it’s hella cheap and the food is decent. My parents were adamant about trying this place so off we went, but not before dragged my brother along with me. I tried a variety of food. A lot of it was bland. Some of it mediocre and a small amount of it was decently good. The sushi was blah. large amount of rice, low quality fish. I guess just dip it in the spicy mayo to make it taste a little better. The noodles(chow mein and glass noodles) were bland. The fried rice was flavorless too. Would not waste my time eating it. I didn’t try the Mongolian BBQ, maybe it’s good! I didn’t like the orange chicken, clams(yuck… sandy!), or mussels. The egg tart was soggy on the bottom… The ice cream wasn’t creamy, more icy. The desserts were bad, bad, bad. Says a lot from a girl who loves anything sweet. What I LIKED: BBQ chicken on a stick was pretty good. Both chicken wings were good. The«chicken wings» that were dry were crispy, probably the best thing they have here. The«spicy wings» are drenched in some buffalo sauce, pretty good. The potstickers are decent too. Try a variety of food in small amounts. I found a lot of the food mediocre and flavorless or just plain fatty/nasty. Decide for yourself what you find tasty. This was would suffice if you’re looking for quantity for a cheap price. Try the chicken wings! Would I come back? Probably not, but for $ 7.59 it was worth it just to make fun of my brother, watch him eat my dad’s left overs, and see his expressions while eating the nasty desserts. lol!

This place is a perfect reminder of why I generally have a rule about NOT eating at buffets. Unfortunately, this place is no exception and went along grudgingly with colleagues from the office; big mistake. I can already feel the food peculating around inside me; yuk. This place is NOT a good place for business meetings. The vending machines and arcade out front should have been my first clue, the 1000+ kids running around in gymnast, track suits was my second clue, and the smell as you walked in of sour fish should have signaled me to turn around and run the other direction. I kept a nice smile and went along with it. So not to drag this review out, lets suffice to say that it was dirty, the food was poor quality, and the atmosphere was a mix of Chuck-E Cheese and a crappy Downtown Vegas buffet and that is being harsh on Downtown Vegas Buffets. Oh, and I knew it would be bad when it is advertised with a Japaneses name, but served Chinese, Korean, and Sushi all at the same time; none of it of any quality. On the positive side lunch special with a drink is $ 10.01 after tax, there is abundant parking(no surprise), and they have a soft serve ice cream machine(no surprise as well). Our server was attentive and on my one day a week to get a soda I said why not and ordered a Coca Cola and surprise its a Pepsi. Who cares, it just fit the overall experience. Barely 2-stars for the value, could go 1-star, but since I am only at three 1-star reviews in three years, might as well give them the benefit of the doubt. No thanks Hibachi Grill; BEWARNED!

It’s so cliché to say you get what you pay for. Although it is cheap the food is not that great. The quality has been getting worse each time I’ve been there. And the last time I was there, I found something in my plate. I had one of the waiters take a look at it and they took it in the back. Then someone else came and told me «ma’am this isn’t an insect» and started Breaking down the thing with her hand. But I never told her I thought it was an insect! so obviously she thinks it looks like one! I told her«it looks like it has eyes.» They just took it away and didn’t offer to give me a discount or didn’t really apologize. Will not come back here anymore

This used to be World Buffet. I honestly don’t know why they changed the name of it. Maybe a new management or something? Anyway my family and I got their specials/coupons in the mail when they were barely opening as Hibachi. Decided to give them a try and basically it literally looks like World Buffet… their plates with the same as world buffets as well. The organization of their food was the same as well. Anyway came here again a couple weeks later and noticed their plates were brand new. ONE thing that I noticed since the beginning after coming here three times already was the lady that seats you. As she directs where you are to be seated and WHILE you’re about to take a seat, she asks you all rushingly what would you like to drink? I’d like to be seated first before you ask questions, not moving while you’re asking me a question. Anyway the food here is pretty basic. They have a sushi/rolls section. I tried some of their rolls, I wish they had signs as to what they kind of sushi or rolls they were though. Their rolls are pretty dry as well. They have a noodle grilling station sort of like Mongolian style where you choose your noodles. I typically get their chow mein and coconut shrimp as well as their teriyaki chicken. They’re pretty good. Their fried rice isn’t as bad as well. They also have three kinds of soup. With one being super sour, thought it was sweet and spicy from the color of it but each time I come and get some it tastes the same, so much for thinking the batch they made is probably a bad one. They have so much aisles of choices from fruits, salads, desert, food, and all that jazz. I never get their desert though. They really look nice but they’re mostly dry and not good tasting. Half the time whenever I would just stroll by looking at their desert, i would almost always see a fruit fly flying around which is nasty. They have an ice cream machine, I think the mixture they put in their ice cream machine is weird because the vanilla would always come out as almost pure white and no having that creamy color to it. And also their ice cream doesn’t really come out as soft serve Anyway. I give them a four star because my parents like this place and keep coming back to it, and I get dragged along with them. But it’s all good. Free treat from the parents.

Monday lunch time buffet. I am pretty satisfied with the food selection. They make fish so many ways here! I guess they really like fish! The only downside is probably the sushi. They need more sushi selections. Aside from the rolled sushi, there was only one kind. Aside from that, no complaints here! Love the fried chicken wings! Everything was pretty tasty! Good prices too!

03÷09÷15: Prices have gone up a whopping .50 to $ 7.50 for lunch. You get what you pay for, average food. 11÷15÷14: Hibachi took over the location of World Buffet. That place was so depressing, I wondered when they would shut their doors. Over the years, the quality decreased at an alarming pace. I swore to never go back again. Enter Hibachi, boasting a new look and new menu items. Who knows, maybe it’s the same people, just slightly remodeled and some different food items. Besides, my in-laws really wanted to go try them out and me being the kindest, most generous man I know, I took them there w/wifey. Hibachi managed to brighten the place up by installing lighter color wall panels, new paint and new, yet cheap tables and chairs. They replaced the huge wall art and replaced them with small flat screens. I question the placement because they put one right above the enclosed work station(you’ll see what I mean) Many food items were the same as other places. including World Buffet, such as the ubiquitous broccoli beef, chow mein, fried rice, steamed fish, chicken skewers and assortment of sushi rolls that fall apart when you pick them up w/chopsticks. They have a Mongolian Grill station that cooks things to order. One item appeared to be an entire marinated steak. Too bad I didn’t try it because of the vultures before me felt it necessary to clear the tray. Man, were they just rescued from some deserted island? They also grilled chicken over an open flame, sliced it and pour some sweet sauce over it, and it’s served with steamed broccoli. Not bad! The smoky flavor does come through the fake teriyaki-like sauce. They had 2 types of steamed fish, one bland, one slight spicy. Spicy is good, bland is … well, bland. The sushi were what you would expect from an Asian buffet, meh. no spicy tuna, no salmon … a lot of imitation crab and cucumbers stuffed into each piece. The sliced fruit had a funky metallic taste to it. Didn’t feel healthy(or safe) at all. I skipped the desserts except tried the Chinese tamale(tsong tze) & fried sesame ball w/red bean filling(doe sa) They really skimped on the filling in the tamale, but the sesame ball was decent. Overall, you get what you pay for, and I suspect the low prices and a grand opening sign will surely attract the bargain food hunters. It’s overall a great deal, but the food is veeeery average and does the job of filling you up. I have no plans to go back unless my in-laws want to. notes: * huge parking lot, shared with many other businesses. it might get pretty packed on weekends. * prices: $ 6.99 for lunch M-F $ 9.99 for dinner M-F $ 10.99 all day on weekends(this is when I assume the better stuff comes out: ie. crab, grilled meat… etc) * though it’s called Hibachi, i didn’t se anything there that resembled an actual hibachi grill.
