Gone there twice and my massages were great. There were a few miscommunications, like the change of address and scheduled appointments, but all and all, my experience was great.

This week I was struggling with neck pain and a headache. I am a massage therapist from Wisconsin and used Unilocal to find CJ. This was the best massage I have ever had. From the moment I got into the building CJ greeted me with warmth and kindness. His massage style and technique was excellent and he checked with me to make sure i was ok with the pressure. I will and have already recommended CJ to my family here in Hartford and will return for services when I return each year.

I had scheduled a massage for my fiancé for this past Friday for his birthday at 10AM. The massage therapist was a no-show. Imagine driving 20 minutes for a massage, finding parking and waiting in the waiting room which is really a hallway almost an hour to realize you’re being stood up. He had the day off for his birthday he could have been home relaxing. He showed up 10 minutes prior like they said. Here he is texting me on his birthday saying that the massage therapist is not there. Then I am calling the place and it says they are in session so maybe they need to change the voicemail when they are not in session, because no one was there. I call about 3x from 10:15 — 10:45 and leave a message and text message. I finally get a text back asking for his name. I post his name and screenshot the confirmation page of the email. She then figures maybe it’s time to be professional and calls me. She said she doesn’t know where the therapist is and apologizes(but doesn’t sound very apologetic). I said it doesn’t matter he already left. She says not to cancel the payment that I can reschedule. Why would I want to reschedule with them? I call back about an hour later after I’ve calmed down and left another voicemail(I guess they don’t know how to answer their phone) for the owner to please call me back. I’m not sure if the owner is at fault, the massage therapist or the«secretary»(that’s not actually there in person. But I want someone to be held accountable. I was giving this business the benefit of the doubt for the owner to call me back but it’s been two days so I figured I can now write a review. Very unprofessional. Horrible experience.

My wife bought me a gift certificate to use at A Matter of Touch for my first massage(ever) based on the recommendation of a friend who had previously received massages from CJ. Today I redeemed that for a 60 minute Swedish massage and had a very pleasant experience and would recommend A Matter of Touch to anyone looking for a great massage in a very relaxing atmosphere. I had Nashika(my apologies, if i misspelled) as my masseuse, who noted that it was my first massage and made me feel very comfortable. The ambiance in the massage room is wonderful, great soothing scents from incense and candles, very nice mood music, and just the right level of light to create a very relaxing atmosphere. I felt well taken care of, she did a great job working all the key areas(back, legs & feet, arms & hands, chest, neck, shoulders) and I will absolutely plan on returning. I came away from my first experience very relaxed, feeling as though it was money well spent and that I would confidently recommend to friends in the area.
