Great crepes, personally I prefer the savory ones. Wish this place was larger it’s great!

Small café, nice vibe, great cappuccino. Independent café I like to support.

I love that there are still little independently owned places like this in West Hartford Center, which is increasingly being taken over by the big chains. They take coffee seriously here, and I’ve heard that the owner has fresh baklava and other pastries delivered daily from New York City. It’s a small but cozy environment that seems to encourage hanging out. I got a belgian waffle to go, which was big and delicious, but a bit pricey at over $ 9.(But hey, it’s WeHa Center, so that shouldn’t have been a surprise.)

One of my favorite spots for crepes and coffee before taking classes at Uconn in west Hartford. The service is sometimes a little… not always the most friendly, but the products are very good.

This little coffee shop is probably the worst place I have ever done business with. The customer service is absolutely horrendous. The woman who took my order at the register was so rude and obnoxious that i almost felt like she could care less that I was a customer and I was paying with MY money! I will never ever return here! To the staff: Please consider learning a few tips about customer service and satisfaction if you want to keep your business.

My favorite crêpe is farmers cheese and fruits, great cappuccinos and Mighty leaf teas. Friendly service, very warm and comfortable atmosphere. The only creperie in West Hartford center that has a Perfect crepes. Strongly recommend.

One word for this place: crepes. Ooo la la! Just get a crêpe, a savory crêpe, a crêpe with jam, honey, chocolate, fruit? Maybe eggs, veggies, cheese? This is crêpe paradise in the area. And the café au lait wasn’t bad either. This is a very French style(food wise) café. There is seating outside and in. Me and a friend arrived when it wasn’t busy and had great service. Does the café au lait compare to having it in France? No. But, the crepes make up for the coffee(and warning I’m a little bit of a coffee snob, so your taste buds might find it more exceptional than mine). I absolutely love the art hanging on the walls, that happens to be for sale, a nice added vibe and shows they support art, so bonus points from me! I had a savory crêpe for lunch today, but will certainly be going back for a sweet one. I haven’t seen another crêpe place like this in the area yet, so for now I suggest it for a go to in that category! You can even watch them craft the deliciousness through a little window at the counter. Who doesn’t want to sit and enjoy a crêpe and coffee?!

Had a yummy macaroon. Would recommend the baklavas, which came in a variety of flavors and looked fresh. Ample seating on a weekday afternoon. Service was nice. Washroom available in the rear of the café. Metered street parking available.

They advertised pastries but the selection was meger at best. I ended up getting the baklava and was sorely disappointed. Generally, I love a good baklava. But this one was dry, poorly seasoned, and lacking flavor. I don’t think I’ll be making another trip back here. Though I must say, the lady behind the counter was lovely.

This review is purely about the service as I never got the chance to experience the food or drink! Wandered in here on a Wednesday afternoon to get a round of coffees to go. There were a few people sitting, and no one waiting to order. I stood at the counter waiting to order, while the girl behind the counter was making some sort of drink. She didn’t acknowledge me, but I thought well she’s busy, so I will wait. 10 minutes later(I actually timed this), this girl was STILL making the same drink(what on earth was it?! Nothing takes that long!) still had not acknowledged me or said anything to me. And she had seen me, as I was standing directly in front of her. Every time I tried to get her attention she turned her back. So I walked out. What a shame as I had heard this place was good. Definitely won’t be going back, because who knows if I will ever get served! Would rather go somewhere where they actually want to sell their product!

I was having a lovely latte in the back porch seating area when a customer started smoking right next to me. What a turn off!!! I have enjoyed many visits to café Sofia in the past and was very disappointed to be driven out on a lovely day. Time to look for other spots to sit outside drinking a morning latte.

Went in for dessert and coffee after dinner. Very cute décor and good amount of seating, the place was very busy on a weeknight at 9:30pm. Hubby ordered the hot chocolate which had whipped cream on top. All we could taste was whipped cream and couldn’t taste the chocolate in the drink. I had the Mexican mocha which had coffee, chocolate, milk, honey, amaretto, and cinnamon. Sounds delish right? All I could taste was bitter coffee w/gritty cinnamon floating in it. The crêpe was good, just your standard nutella with fruit and powdered surgar. I think maybe because it was closing the drinks were not as good as we were hoping. I think we will be back to try more though, the menu looks promising.

Unfortunately, another visit to Café Sofia resulted in another«Methinks not.» I decided to give this little café another chance after the ice cream trial, this time for coffee, as a friend suggested it to try in my new endeavor to find good local coffee. On a rainy mid-week afternoon, I walked to the counter and stood behind a man who was undecided in his choice and who did not seem to be helped very much by the two servers I saw behind the counter. He stepped aside and the main server asked me what I wanted, not unpleasantly but also not with much personality or friendliness.(No smile to be seen, either.) I ordered a cappuccino, which seemed to be the favorite in other reviews, to go and waited for a few brief minutes after paying(in which my credit card was almost thrown back at me on the counter). When I got my coffee, I decided to sit for a minute to taste it. I took the top off and let it cool for a minute or so, noting that it was just a mass of foam and unlike some pictures of it on this page in which there was art on the top. I then sipped, only to be scalded. I waited a few more minutes and it was still way too hot to drink. Eventually I could taste it, and it did not seem like anything particularly special. By the time it cooled to a regular hot temperature, my tongue was too burned and I really did not want it anymore. Though the ice cream seemed better stocked than my last visit as well as more baked goods in the display case and on the counter, and despite its convenient location, I will definitely not be back to Café Sofia. The service has deterred me from returning to try anything else. There are a number of coffee shops in the area, ones with friendlier service, too. Café Sofia in no way stands out, mostly because of the service.

The food and coffee is average, nothing extravagant but still tasty. The café is pretty expensive but it’s understandable considering it’s a small business in West Hartford. The biggest downfall is its customer service. I’m a college student age and I didn’t feel welcomed at all. I wasn’t greeted and the girl working wasn’t helpful or friendly. The biggest perk to this place is its location.

Not a fan at all. I’ve been here three times total, and I really liked it at first. It’s cozy and welcoming. The owner is very nice and the first two times I went here, the milkshakes(Shady Glen ice cream) was pretty decent. This was a few years ago. However, the last time I went here, last week, it was different. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the workers quickly glance at me and then turn around and pretend like they didn’t see me. I walk over to the counter area(but off near a table so that if someone came they could go in line and order) to look at the menu because I wanted a crêpe but wasn’t sure about what toppings I want. The owner asked if I was ready, I told her I needed a few minutes because I wasn’t sure what I wanted. She came back not even a minute later and asked again if I was ready. Mind you I was sitting at a table next to the counter so I wouldn’t be in anyone’s way. I wasn’t in line. A different girl came out a few minutes later and at that point, I think I’m ready to order. I just asked her the difference between the Nutella and the mocha topping and which one in her opinion tasted better. She said«different preferences.» OKAYYOUDONTSAY. whatever, I ordered a mocha topping crêpe and I forgot to order it stuffed with fruits but that was my fault, I didn’t want to stress anyone out. I asked her if I could have water and she just pointed to the corner where there was a little thing of water. She was very short with me the whole time. Not only that, but she was rude. When I got my crêpe, it looked really fantastic. However, I didn’t know the mocha topping was liquid. If the girl just explained that to me or ANYTHING, I would’ve happily gotten Nutella. it was too sweet so I gave it to my boyfriend. The first two times I’ve went here, I didn’t have tattoos, a piercing or colored hair. Now that I do, I’m looked down upon by the one establishment in West Hartford Center that I actually enjoyed. well I learned my lesson. never coming to this stuck up café ever again.

It is interesting to see so many trends and such diverse group of reviews about café Sophia. I’ll give it three stars and stick it right in the middle. Crepes are awesome and you can customize it anyway you really want. Menu is large and they have almost everything you ever want! Coffee is meh. Some may like it while other may hate it. I like mine like I like my women… dark cold and bitter… So in this case not dark enough and certainly not bitter. Better off getting a Verona blend from Starbucks then come here to satisfy your sweet tooth. Service blows ass so they lose a lot there. Almost as bad as delta airlines. Not bad place overall and I’ll surely come back.

What a great little coffee, ice cream and crêpe place! I don’t get to write that combination nearly enough! This is a small but very cute coffee shop — colorful décor, perfect music for chatting and working, and a nice friendly atmosphere. The menu’s very impressive, with just about any kind of crêpe you can imagine. They’re just as serious about their coffee too, with a variety of international blends and ways of preparing it. I’ll be coming back here again and again.

Oh so love this place, cute, quaint and oh so full of life. The coffee is great, but this is not just about coffee. They have crepes and waffles to die for. You can watch through the glass enclosure as your food is being made by the friendly owners and staff. They also serve Shady Glen ice cream, the best in the area. And now for the best part. They have added macaroons imported from Paris. The flavor explosion is unbelievable. This place is a must stop if you’re ever in West Hartford Center.
