We went pretty regularly despite customer service that was cold and clueless. But then we got very bad sushi and stopped for a year or so. We decided to try it again and it seemed better. Then the other day we took out sushi that didn’t smell or taste right. Needless to say, we don’t intend to return.

My palate has many Beasts. Some need to be fed more frequently than others. My «Sushi Beast» is one that doesn’t roar as often as, say, my «Barbecue Beast» needs to be fed. However, when it does and I’m local, I know Tokyo Sushi III is my proven and reliable go-to calm that Sushi Beast grumbling & rumbling from within. Always fresh made from a creative menu or if you desire anything unique, fear not. Even Gluten Free needs are well addressed. Other Asian specialties are on the menu. There’s a fare selection of beverages, including a variety of imported Asian beers, which is my must have to help extinguish that Sushi Beast!

We had dinner here tonight before catching a show at the Bushnell. This was our first time here, and we were pretty impressed with the interior of Tokyo Sushi– lots of tables and booths in a bright diniing room. The menu is huge — well over two dozen appetizers, four soups, five salads, and tons of sushi, sashimi, house rolls, hand rolls, and special rolls. Plus tempuras, teriyakis, noodle dishes, hot pots, donburi rice bowls, katsu specails, and on and on and on. We had a Chicken teriyaki special($ 13) with rice, salad, and miso soup, and a Spicy Maki Combination(Spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail for $ 16) served with a salad and miso. Miso soup is very often a bowl full of warm nothingness. This was different– it was really good with great flavor, greens and diced tofu. The salad was very cold and fresh– a simple bowl of iceberg lettuce and trimmed cucumber slices with ginger dressing. My sushi was excellent– 18 pieces of delicate creamy spicy goodness. I tried a few slices of the terriyaki chicken as well, and found it to be moist and tender(not a shred of dried out overcooking anywhere). The only area for improvement was the service. No evidence of a smile or warmth or anything to distinguish herself or acknowledge our business. Impersonal is a good way to describe our server. Anyway, we had a nice dinner here, ate in a pleasant atmosphere, and received a good value for our money in West Hartford on a Saturday night. We even parked for free which is a WEHA luxury.

Love the sushi here! Be sure to download this app for coupons and ask about the loyalty rewards. The red dragon roll is soooo good. The atmosphere is very casual and nothing fancy. When we get reliever it arrives faster than when we dine in!

I order take out from here at least once a week, although usually 2 or 3 times(sometimes lunch sometimes dinner). This place is great! I think the prices are perfect, and the lunch menu is great. I’ve never gotten sick(knock on wood) and the sushi always tastes fantastic. Just a tip: if you order something that comes with soup, check in the store that they gave you the soup. I live around the corner so it hasn’t been a big deal to go back and grab it, but they do forget it sometimes. Pick up is made very quickly, I’m not sure about delivery. I’ve eaten in the restaurant twice and both times it was great.

Quiet and clean atmosphere. Excellent sushi. There is also the option to make your own sushi roll. The servers are attentive and professional. There are a couple of tv’s, a small bar area, and a sushi bar. Great place to go with friends or by yourself for a quick bite.

I can’t tell you how many dozens of times I’ve driven past Tokyo Sushi on my way to ANOTHER sushi spot, or even pulled into the same parking lot to frequent Black Bamboo and Harvest Wines without a second glance. Although I’m now a bit sheepish, I’m glad one of my friends suggested Toyko Sushi for a bite on Saturday night. The seaweed salad and miso soup were perfectly seasoned starters and the specialty Jazz Roll was on point with spicy tuna and avocado topped with sliced eel, wasabi tobiko and eel sauce. I don’t always opt for the specialty rolls but when I do I prefer them not soaked in mayo, so this one definitely got points for the eel sauce! It really was terrific. Service was quick and we were in and out within 45 minutes — perfect for when you have other evening plans like we did. Another bonus — they deliver!

The sushi is decent but over priced for some of the quality sushi in the area. My biggest gripe with this place is the lack of information they seem to provide you with prior to your arrival. The website, which was once sad, now seems to be non-existent. The two times I came here to order food to go I was lied to. First, about their prices and second, about the time they close. according to the Internet and the sign outside their own door they close at 10, however when I walked in at 930 to place an order the kitchen was already closed. It’s not as if they have a nightlife seen that requires then to post later hours for later customers, they are just a restaurant meaning their kitchen should be open until 10. If you want some decent sushi and don’t mind the shady and lazy management then I would give this place a try. Note: as I write this review they turned off their open light at 9:45pm. If they aren’t dedicated to their customers I would question how dedicated they are to the pursuit of quality food.

Nice atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Food nicely prepared. Yet, food delivery was timed wrong and some of our group was left out looking at other people eating.

I have tried every sushi restaurant in West Hartford and I would say Tokyo Sushi III is the best in terms of quality and price. I don’t think the servers will ever make me feel like a «regular» here and the atmosphere is not overly friendly. But if you’re looking for good quality sushi, this is the best Weha spot.

Fraud Alert: They feature«live scallop» on the menu. I ordered it once and while what they brought tasted good, it clearly was not scallop. Twice since then I’ve gone in and asked the sushi chef directly if they had live scallop and received enthusiastic yeses. I then asked him if I could please see the«live scallop». He, both times, went into the back room for a couple of seconds and came out and told me «not today». I kind of like the place but this is wholly unacceptable and I wouldn’t trust for a second that these folks are bringing you what you ordered.

Lovely, unassuming, quiet little sushi bar– total hidden gem! Lightly finished wood and a hushed tv with CNN complemented the splashing of water from the fish tank. This place doesn’t have the vibe of a place that converts into a cheesy nightclub, just a vintage 50s doorway leading to a calm, composed interior. We came here for lunch before a haircut at the Kingswood barber shop on a Monday & were the only customers — the place was calm and still. Got our lunch drink on with a large hot house sake and a 25oz Kirin ichiban, for the low low price of $ 11! We ordered the lunch special pork tonkatsu bento box and a chicken pad Thai — wow, fantastic! The pork was crispy and came with a tangy sauce that had a hint of the A1 to it, the fried dumplings had a light drizzle of vinegar sauce, and a couple of mini-California rolls and some sticky rice to finish it off– a perfect light but filling combination. The pad Thai was really delightful– light and fresh, some of the best pad Thai I’ve had in the area. Midway through the meal they piped in some mellow saxophone jazz, just barely audible, and with the dimmed news on tv in the background, it felt like being out and at home and perfect at the same time.

Slow slow slow slow slow. My cup full of water has evaporated. If only Mr. Myiagi was here we’d have our sushi order an hour ago. Unfortunately I am so disgusted with the slow service I’m writing this review before we even got our food. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant without all its tables full. If you’re looking for a place to loose a few pound by starving yourself to death, here is the place. You’ll wait forever. I was recommended by a family member. I’m so angry with the awful service I just disowned him.

Bumping the to 4-stars after many more visits, improved service, and great food. We have never experienced a long wait again after our first visit. We find the prices are reasonable and the fish is always fresh. The specialty rolls, such as the foxy lady, are delicious and beautifully done. I’m so glad we spent more time going back here as it’s very close to where we live. It’s now our go to sushi place.

My H and I were craving sushi tonight for dinner, but didn’t want to go out. Alas on his way home from work, he stopped by the closest thing to Japanese food he could find — Tokyo Sushi III. Parking is decent since there’s a lot plus you can probably park off-street if needed I guess. Ordering was quick and simple. He ordered a crab meat roll, eel avocado roll, smoked salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. Although there was a substantial amount of people, he was in(to order and to wait) and out in under twenty minutes. Not bad. How were the rolls? I have to give them credit– the rolls were actually pretty good. Admittedly, they were probably the best take out sushi I’ve had in central Connecticut. Also, the miso soup was wicked good the most flavorful I’ve had in a long time(since traveling to Asia). We’ll definitely come again and probably eat-in.

2012 was a tragic year for me that included ending the year with some disastrous dining experiences. One snowy evening I was craving soup so I decided to give Tokyo Sushi III a try. I could have had better soup from Black Bamboo next door. I’m totally not exaggerating but the broth was beyond salty, I think my guardian angel that night wanted to choke me because I convinced myself I had to finish my entire bowl of soup despite the salt laced broth. The noodles were sad and depressingly. Looking at the pictures now makes me wonder why I would torture myself in such a way. My disappointment doesn’t stop at the soup it continues to the sushi. I would have been better off getting sushi from a buffet. Sad and dried up pieces of fish appeared before me. I don’t think I will ever return for food here. I didn’t like the food and I didn’t like that the wait staff rushed me. The soup was hot and its unreasonable to expect someone to devour salty soup quickly. I’m glad 2012 is history.

A few weeks ago one of my classmates mentioned that this was her favorite sushi place in town. I had never been so I wanted to give it a try. A friend and I met up for dinner here last night and had an a-ok sushi dinner. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the restaurant. I really didn’t know what to expect, as it looked quite small from the outside. One of it’s next door neighbors, Black Bamboo, is more of a take-out place with seating, awesome food, and not a lot of ambience. I kind of expected the same here but I walked into a simply, but nicely decorated Japanese restaurant adorned with tasteful touches. There was a wood theme going on, with pictures of flowers on the walls, a fishtank, and bamboo on each table. The sushi bar is immediately in the line of vision upon entering. I got the Sushi Regular entrée which came with seven pieces of sushi and a tuna roll. For $ 14.95 it also came with a miso soup and salad. I subbed the salad for a seaweed salad a paid a few dollars more for the substitution. First, the soup and salad arrived. The miso soup and the seaweed salad were both very good. The seaweed salad was served in a beautiful white bowl, and sat on top of a bed of julienned cucumbers, giving the appearance of a larger portion than was actually there. The actual amount was plentiful, though. The sushi was arranged nicely on the simple white platter. The seven pieces included one piece of sea bass, two pieces of salmon, two pieces of «whitefish», and two pieces of tuna. Also, as I mentioned, there was tuna(tekka maki) roll. When I was ordering, I asked the waitress what kind of fish could come with the sushi and she seemed confused, providing answers that she didn’t seem confident in giving. Well, except for salmon and tuna. Those were easy. When I inquired further about what type of fish the whitefish was, she said it was whitefish. Hmmm. Other places I have gone would have provided seven different types of fish for each piece of sushi. I would have liked more variety, but what I did have was good and satisfying. I’ve also never been to a place that simply stated whitefish was whitefish, and couldn’t provide a specific type of fish. Also, I kind of wish I had ordered the spicy tuna for the maki roll. As much as I love tuna, between the sushi and the maki roll, it was a lot of the same flavor. Also, freshness of the fish was fine but I’ve definitely had fresher at other local sushi restaurants. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse sushi in town, but I don’t know that I will be rushing back. if I do, parking will be a main factor. There’s a pretty sizable lot in the back making parking easy as pie.
