The restaurant decorations are pretty nice, even if its small in there. Service is pretty slow, and the waitresses are not the nicest. The pupusas were super greasy and not that good. The tamal de elote was excellent though

I was skeptical to go here because my husband and I don’t speak spanish, but when we gained enough courage, we were so happy we finally tried it! Our first time I had the chicken stew, which was a breast and leg in a tomato based sauce, with mashed red beans and rice. Although not my idea of a stew, It was delicious. My husband had the el salvadorian platter which he enjoyed but the meat was a little dry. We have been back a few times, as it is across from our apartment, and enjoy it every time. The pork and cheese pupusa is delicious!!! I took my fathers girlfriend here and we tried the tamales. Holy cow. Sweet corn tamales was like a dessert it was so tasty!!! Today when we went my sister had the chicken quesadilla, which was creamy and delicious. I got an array of things for my mom and sister to try(since it was their first visit) and they loved it all. They have a new menu, I think they finally upped their prices, which is well deserved… They even have an english menu now. This last visit we ordered –2 pork and cheese pupusas –1 chicken quesadilla –1 guacomole w/chips –1 shredded chicken dinner –2 side salads –1 beef taco –1 chicken enchalada –1 sweet plantain dessert –1 diet coke –1 coffee The bill came to $ 42.11 Cash only!

It’s ok. Not the best pupusas, not the worst. The pork ones were good, the cheese and pork/cheese rather bland. The hot sauce was rather timid and couldn’t bring the two blander pupusas to life. I was surprised that the«beans» turned out to be like Mexican retried beans instead of more nearly whole beans in sauce. Platano maduro was unusual, too. A whole, very ripe sweet plantain very fried. Very good. Pleasant service, low prices. 3 pupusas, beans, maduro, cabbage slaw and soda for about $ 9.

What’s to like: The staff and owner are so friendly! They make you feel welcome the minute you enter The breakfast platter #6(rice and beans, eggs, avocado, cheese, sour cream, fried ripe plantains and choice of tortilla or authentic Latin Bread) The enchiladas(crisp corn tortilla with choice of pulled pork, stew chicken or ground beef with lettuce tomato and dressing) YUM! Tamales PUPUSAS all soups What’s not to like: I must engage in an intense workout régime all week to burn off. But so worth it!!!

The food use to be very good but, I must say the past times I’ve been there the food is not that great. The staff is horrible. I asked for stake and it comes with a side salad. I asked the girl if I can substitute the salad for something else and she said I could Get a slice of cheese. When I got my bill they charged me extra for the cheese. I couldn’t believe it. Every time I go there my bill is always over 80 dollars and they can’t let a dollar slide. I’m a business owner myself and I would never make a big deal over 1 dollar smh. Like a dollar is gonna make a difference. I will never eat there again. And I would never recommend it to anyone else. This place is so cheap that they charge extra money for packing ur pupusas in seperate containers when u have a to go order. And they are also cheap with the sour cream when u order the tamales de elote.Smh.

Located on a corner in Hempstead across the street from an IHOP, this little jewel of a restaurant is what I call good olé Central American cooking. The owner takes pride in his restaurant and there is a 3 drink maximum order per person, no cell phones, and I forgot what other rule he posts. He wants to keep it a family friendly establishment and deter a certain element of people from getting drunk, harassing the staff and patrons, and wrecking the place. OK enough about that, here is why you should come here. If you never had a poupousa, add it to your foodie bucket list. It is a corn cake stuffed with pork, beans and cheese. Top it with curtido(Central American cole slaw) and add a little salsa roja, and you are in for a treat. The food is feshly made. There is a little old lady in the kitchen prepping everything as you order, so expect to wait for your food. But as I mentioned, the food is freshly made, no frozen items being reheated! On another occasion I had the bistec with just rice and beans, and the meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection, not too dry and not too salty.

I stumble into a little hole in the wall, a while back but did not have the pleasure to go, i order take out from this place to try it. Its a small place with like 6 tables, i order pupusas and 2 empanadas the leche, which came out to $ 17.70 and a cake which is called quesadilla that cost $ 5. I love the pupusas and curtido(pickle cole slaw) but not the tomato sauce, it was too watery. However it would be my new pupusas spot!

I have been over 30 times! Over 10 years! This is a review that is not a one time thing. Location: Nothing to see. Wait: Usually not bad. Larger parties can wait, but it’s a small place so when they are booked it’s over. Setting: Nice, very spanish. Always have a movie playing. Wait staff: The waitresses are the absolute worse in the world. There’s no worse service then these in all Long Island. Here’s a sample: I asked for light ice, it came full of ice so I reminded her I told her light ice, she stared at me for about 3 seconds and took the cup, then returned with the cup half full as all the horchata was all over the cup, and there was no ice pushing it to the top so obviously the cup was half full. I wanted to throw the cup at the door. But didn’t. The wait staff has this crazy attitude, perhaps it’s because she’s the only one there but it’s so bad. And if they get something wrong in your order they get all upset like they are doing me a favor, like I’m not paying money. Food: Best pupusas. Best breakfast. I have no complaints. None at all! It’s very good. Bathrooms: Very clean. All in all: The only reason I come back is the food, it’s honestly very good. If you get the chance to take it to go please do. The owner Isaac is nice when he wants to be. I’ve known him for years, even before he had this place and had another spot, he’s nice when he wants to be. The wait staff is the worst, in the world. But the food is good. Would I come back: Yes, but take the food to go if you can!

The best place for pupusas around. They sometimes have quesadilla — a rich dense salvadorian cheese cake. If you see it I highly recommend giving it a try. I usually get the pupusas typico platter and it is a huge amount of food for very little money. It comes with a whole plantain, beans(they usually are a bit salty for me), 2 pupusas and all the necessary pupusa accompaniments. They have a large menu but I can’t deviate from their pupusas — they are just too good.

Full Disclosure: I’ve known the owner for years, but this review is truly an unbiased opinion. Good tasting food and cleanliness is very important in the food service industry. I’ve taken a tour of their kitchen before, and I can conclude that everything is in tip-top shape. The chef has been there for many many years and can do wonders with her food ingredients. If you truly want to taste Home-Made Salvadoran food(like Mama’s secret recipe good), I suggest you stop by Las Brisas De El Salvador and give it a try. I’ve came here at least a dozen times and I’m still in love with their food! Also, the place has a super cute interior of sceneries from El Salvador. 1) Milk Shakes: I think I’ve tried almost all of their flavors and Honeydew, Cantaloupe, and Papaya shakes are personally my favorites. 2) My dad and I love their beef soup and my mom prefers their chicken noodle soup. 3) My mom LOVES their pupusas. FYI: I swore they had an english-verison menu a couple of years ago, but now it’s all in spanish. However, they knew exactly what I wanted when I came here to order take-out. I would order new things, but unfortunately my 3 years of high school spanish did not do the menu any justice. I really missed the waitress that used to work there about 2 years ago, she was super awesome! Oh yea, it’s CASHONLY and there’s a HUGE parking lot in the back!

The mariscada soup is always great. I must say they are heavily lacking in balancing proportion of cheese and pork inside their pupusas. There was barely any cheese or pork in my regular cheese and mixed(revuelta) pupusas. If they can simply fix this I’d say they offer the best Salvadorian food around.

The food was delicious(we tried the papusas, tacos, a sausage dish and more than one soup). Service was friendly and fairly quick. The dining room was OK, though strangely we counted at least 8 warning notices on the walls about bringing in outside food, and every table seemed to have a list of «restrictions” — rules for things like not allowing children to stand on the chairs. Despite the oddities in the dining room, we would gladly eat here again. Yum!

I went after lunchtime on a weekday. There was only me and another customer. Hempstead isn’t a place I think of for good food but this restaurant was quite a surprise. The interior and general area seems questionable but the food makes up for it. The service was great(but remember I was one of two customers, so expected). The Salvadoran Tray was amazing. It doesn’t look overly appetizing but the flavor was fantastic. I could tell it was cooked with care, even though it included many different parts that needed preparation. I do remember that the dish seemed to take a little longer than expected.

Service is horrible. We came with a group of 16 and half of our group waited at least 45 minutes for their food. And on top of that the waitress had an attitude problem. The popusas were dry. The cortido and hot sauce/tomato sauce were disgusting. Bathrooms were dirty. We will not be going back.

Pupusa was delicious. We had cheese beans and pork. Chicken enchiladas also amazing. Tamale was so-so, but I’m from LA so I might just be used to a different experience. Not a huge cassava fan but I gave it a shot. I feel like if you grew up eating it, it’d probably be good but wasn’t for me. They have full liquor license, cash only. 2 giant opposing flat screens playing kids movies most of the time. Our server was so sweet. Clean place and nice quiet atmosphere. Definitely going to add this place to our rotation.

Alright, I wanted to like this place but ultimately the service was what brought it down. The food is tasty and the place doesn’t look bad either. I can say that they have good pupusa’s there and also a good typical breakfast dish(desayuno tipico). The issue I’ve had is from the service staff. They are unable to handle a busy restaurant, have difficulty with the seating since it’s a small place, not friendly service but worst of all touch your food with their dirty hands… Yes it happened in more than one occasion where the waitress just happens to be touching my food while she is serving it. That and having to wait ridiculous amounts time to just get the check…

Cleanliness is such a vital quality in a restaurant. I grew up eating Salvadorian food and, as delicious as it is, it’s often hard to tell which Central American restaurants are worth checking out and which ones you want to avoid. A restaurant can look nice and you can always take the risk and try one you’ve never tried before, but you might end up regretting afterwards. And believe me, when you visit a restaurant with questionable levels of cleanliness, you wish you’d have known it beforehand. In that sense, Las Brisas is so refreshing. It’s like enjoying your mom’s, tia’s or abuelita’s homemade Salvadorean cooking, but in a modern, sleek little restaurant. It’s got a little bit of new and all of the traditional. Best Salvadorean food in the area without a doubt. And if it’s your first time eating Salvadorean, you’re in for a treat. I recommend at LEAST a cheese pupusa and a plato tipico salvadoreno(with at least two tortillas).
