My favorite bar, bc it feels like a club without the super long lines, faux exclusive wait times outside, outrageous cover charges and cramped quarters. Its small, the crowd is always cool but like someone else said there is no theme, so the music is shifty. I guess the DJ just wants to appeal to all people. I am open minded about music so I dont mind the change from ratchett juvenile to kasakde, but I could see that being a problem for people who like a specific genre of music and dont deviate. Anyways fun bar, friendly people!

Wow, my second time there, and it’s not quite what it was. I don’t mean to sound douchey, but the place is douchey, and for a douchey place, I kinda expected the kinda bad a$$ crowd I used to see. Now it’s kinda wannabe. Some people remarked here on Unilocal it was a «Vintage-style Hollywood bar» or some kind of throwback — sure it is if you are a tourist or never experienced real Hollywood places like Daddy’s, Frolic Room, or Los Feliz’s Dresden Room or the Derby back in the day. In fact, you want Hollweird awesomeness you can still go to the Dresden now! It’s the same as it has been with Marty & Elaine still plugging away like they did in the 90s! Heck, it still looks the same. While you are at it, just take the Swingers Tour of LA If you haven’t watched Swingers, go watch it NOW. No, go NOW! You are uncultured and you are missing the best movie ever on single life in LA. Here are all the locations in Swingers Crown Bar has the hottie crowd and the décor down. The vibe? Meh. Expensive drinks, average DJs. Seriously, I love hip hop and classic rock but no-theme, no consistent groove, and putting American Girl in randomly — why are people cheering you? These your friends, right? Okay, so you are 20 – 21 years old, you want to say you went to hot spot, you want to gawk, you want that«Hollywood» décor, fine, go to Crown. It’s a solid choice and you will check it off your list. After that, move on! Funny thing is I started this review in 2010 and felt no need to finish it til now. On my last trip to LA I discovered 2 cool new places — The Perch and Bar Lubitsch. These are far more fun, lots of people dancing, DJs and an amazing time. You want to go somewhere where you will have stories to tell later? Why not check out Lubitsch, take some friends, sample one of 200 vodkas and see where the night takes you!

Not too shabby, ample parking if you park right across the street and you are out before 2 perfect! There is no cover and the place is on the smaller end of things, but the music makes up for it, 90s and beyond music. And fantastic there was no cover because we are the on the list, otherwise, not too sure the price. As a girl be careful, there had been some people standing right where the railing was and because I was not able to grab on to it, I fell down the stairs, two stairs to be exact! arg! Overall, the feel is decent, a diverse crowd and doesn’t get crowded until later in the night, but when it does, dang it’s busy! And the drinks are on the pricey side of things.

No cover? music from the late 90’s, early 2000? LOVEIT! The drinks are pricey and it’s a really diverse crowd. The parking is awful but there is a side street that is free as long as you get out of there by 2am!

Went here on a Friday night to hear some really good hip hop. I was surprised at how this little place exceeded my expectations. I had a great time dancing. The drinks were hella strong. No hastle parking across the street at trader joes for free. Nice ambiance, good lighting(enough to see people but not too bright that you feel like people can see your every move) and we ran into a kardsashian there. Come here with your fiends if you love hip hop and want to dance. Get there early to secure a good spot and some seats.

You’ll let old, fat, white guys like me in? So that they can do their old, fat, white guy dance all over your hip, pretty crowd? Where are your standards??? Where are your values! I am so disappointed in you.

Very Small and Very typical Hollywood Scene. There were so many celebrities hanging around I don’t know who is who.(Sometimes I’m odd, with the field I want to get into, I am so bad at socializing and networking. :( The women coming to this bar are definitely wanted to be seen and looking for attention. They probably are either models or actresses want-to-be. But if want to look at beautiful women, here’s the place. They all have great skinny model figures and beautiful pollished in every ways except for their personalities. :-P Drinks are overpriced and the place is definitely over hyped! I’ll just stick with my comfy bars in the South Bay beaches. I can dress like a beach bum and not dressed like a hooker to get in to a bar for an overpriced drink. «Wink-Wink»

Fire Hazard Most likely the crowd varies depending on the night but it was a cluster-f_ck the night we stopped by. The venue is intimate and upscale with a smoking patio but a severe contrast from the bulk the patrons who were rude and confrontational.

Crown Bar is definitely a scene; a place to be seen, however? That’s up for debate. I hadn’t heard of the place til last week — my friend and I were going to the ESPYs and wanted something fun to do when it was over. She found free tickets to their after-party online so we thought: why not give it a go… whats the worst that could really happen? Well, Crown Bar didn’t disappoint… but it didn’t really«wow» me, either. The line outside moved slowly, and the bouncer was picky and inefficient. The music was hit-or-miss, and by that I mean mostly miss. Even though it was the same DJ all night, they seemed unable to stick to a genre or BPM for most of the evening. It was incredibly dark inside — as in, I can only see what you look like if you stand within 3′ of me. It’s mostly full of Industry people, using any chance they get to bust out their credentials — facebook, youtube, blog sites, you name it and they tried to force it down our throats. It came across like a great place for networking, but if you’re looking to have good, honest conversation you’re just not going to find it here.

Came here on a Saturday night with three of my girlfriends, and was put on the«list» by another friend. Granted we showed up a little late(11pm), we ended up waiting outside for about 1.5 hours(???). When we finally got inside(not because the line had moved, but because a friend came who knew the bouncer), it was CROWDED. Filled with newly turned 21 year olds going insane. Plus, I’ve been to quite a few other bars in WeHo, and the eye candy is somewhat slimmer here. The drinks are pretty pricey, and not very good. We ordered a Kamikaze and it tasted like vodka(???). I guess you should know you’re not going to have the greatest time when the bouncer lets 15 guys in and makes 4 girls waiting outside for 1.5 hours.

Got here 10:30, the place was kind of dead, but it did starting filling up a little after eleven. Restrooms are clean and there’s a wait staff there to squirt soap for you and hand you napkins. Nice, but I found it a bit awkward having someone hover there. I do think the DJ has ADD as one person said; the music was selection wasn’t bad though. Drinks. yes…whooping $ 16. The place is a bit small, but huge compared to the winston. Nice lounge areas. Not much of a dance floor. No cover on the Saturday I went in and we were told we could park at Trader Joes. :) Not really my scene in the end, but not bad.

Fun lounge in West Hollywood, one of my favorite parts of Los Angeles. This bar is in the same area as Winston’s and Bar Lubitsch so you can bar hop to all of these bars in one night. This bar has a great vibe too it with a great DJ. This is a great place to come with your girlfriends to have a good time with a drink in hand and hit the dance floor. I came here on a rainy night and it was almost empty. I don’t think I would have enjoyed this bar as much if it was packed. On Friday and Saturday nights it does fill up, so come early. This bar is not worth a line. Drinks are pricy. $ 16 for a gimlet. Seriously? Way too much! But the atmosphere is oh so nice. Dark lighting, with huge lamps. Very pretty. Parking is difficult around this area so either come early or pay to park in one of the lots.

I struggle to think of anything that makes this place stand out from other L.A. bars. It’s dark, mid-sized, has a small dance floor, decent music, interesting mixed crowd, patio for the smokers and it could still be difficult to find a place to sit even with ample seating(crowded). This place has got the formula down and for the most part, it works. It just isn’t enough to distinguish it from other places. If you’ve been to places like the Circle Bar(Santa Monica), The Room(Santa Monica), or The Well(Hollywood) then you might as well have been here… and vice versa. This is not to say that I didn’t have fun here or that I didn’t like this spot, because I did… mainly due to the alcohol and the decent music. But that’s exactly my point… I could enjoy alcohol and decent music in many other places. I think Crown Bar is one of those go-to spots when you can’t think of anywhere else to go. No need to worry too much about what to wear(casual chic works perfectly here) or where to park(no valet parking but you can park across the street). Get here early enough to avoid a long wait at the bar, grab a few drinks and in no time you’d be swinging your hips on the dance floor along with an energetic crowd. It’ll do the trick every time. I say, come here when you have the urge to dance but don’t want to go to a club. The key is the company. So long as you are hanging out with people you actually like, Crown Bar’s formula will take care of the rest and you’ll have a good time.

Awesome place! Went there wednesday night trying to make it before 10:30pm for their open bar. No cover. Arrived at 10:20pm and made it out alive with two drinks in each hand. The bar is in the center and loops around. There are dark red seating area all over– very lounge-like. It has that old-ish vintage bar look(think Seven Grand) but the lighting is not as dark so you can actually people watch. They had live music on with different bands performing– and they were good. The steps on the side is a great area to watch because people’s heads wont get in your way. The crowd is very chill and not the typical Hollywood crowd. Mostly my age. Not a hipster dive but did see a couple. Some people were wearing shorts and t-shirt, some flannels, cutey tops, dresses, dress-shirts and ties, etc. A wide range of attire but everybody was laid back, which I loved! It was neither too crowded or too empty… perfect balance of population! Outside is a neat patio area with smokers and a painter, and more seating. There were art-work hung everywhere(Also inside as well) which was interesting. I really like how the painter was in the corner doing her thing and you can see the progression through time. The bands were great! First acoustic guy, then rockers, then 90’s cover band called Reality Bites and hiphop intervals. Everybody was really good and so passionate about their singing. Most of them were drunk and hence, put on a show for us. It’s also a great place to have a decent conversation with people without having to yell«WHAT?» the whole time. I would definitely recommend this place to meet your friends, meet new people, hear new artists, drink free drinks, and have an easygoing effortless night!

*** Typical vintage H/Wood style bar. *** So what makes it typical? It’s the people (industry folks) and its décor(dark velvet). It’s a lil entertaining but it feels like WeHo. I only had fun b/c I tripped on the people… #1 Bathroom Attendant Me: Sup, gimme a loosey for $ 1 aight? BA: Nah man … $ 2, or $ 20 for a pack. Me: Dude, you can’t even get $ 20 in NYC! BA:(smiling) Aight man, just this time. Me:(ugh) Gimme the damn cig. o_O #2 The Babe TB:(checking text msg) Me: Your bf? TB: Yeah, I got three. They all love me. Me: Three guys, wtf! So do you love one? TB: No, but they all wanna marry me. ;p (She then shows her text msg from one.) Me: Damn … that is love aight.(smh) #3 Down Low Gay Guy DLGG: Sup man, what do you think? (We’re both looking off into the crowd.) Me: Well there’s alotta 6′ models or… ;-\ DLGG: Or what?!? Me: Or a bunch of trannies in here.(lol) DLGG: Wah, so do trannies bother you? Me: No, jus say’n I don’t do cryin games. DLGG: Oh you are funny! Not gay, uh? Me: No … and you? DLGG: No, I am with my girl here. (Later I talk to his girlfriend … he’s gay.) Omg seriously if not for Seagram’s vodka promo going on and live music, this Wed night may have been a total bust!(lmfao) *** Very colorful crowd to say the least. ***

I’m a fan of Crown Bar. I like to go on Sunday nights when it’s Alex Quinn’s night. The crowd is pretty hot and the dj’s good. The bartenders are a little slow, but the place is packed and it’s a hot crowd. I’ve read some of the other reviews, which surprise me since I’ve never had a problem getting in here(or anywhere) and I’ve never had any problem to speak of. I guess try it for yourself and see if it works for you.

It’s a tough door on Sundays. Guys have to bring girls or you will stand outside for at least an hour and may not get in at all. Dropping a promoter’s name won’t do you any good. You have to personally know the promoter. I’ve met one promoter who said he promotes Crown Bar on Sundays, I get there and they’ve never heard of him. Once inside though, it’s one big circular bar, a small dance floor, and a patio. The music is hip-hop and it’s good stuff — there was someone rapping there last night for a couple of songs, the crowd is cool, and it’s a great vibe. I’ll definitely go back.

Came here for some drinks with a couple of my friends on a Friday night. We all got there around 9pm so the place was pretty empty at first, but people started walking in around 10 o’clock and by midnight it got pretty packed. It’s a pretty small venue, but the interior is pretty nice. There’s a bar in the middle and couple of tables with very comfortable sofas. There is a patio outside with tables and chairs for people to have smokes. Drinks are a bit pricey but its expected for a bar in Hollywood… but they do make their drinks pretty strong. The bartenders were very nice(and pretty hot too) Mix crowd, good music(that’s not too loud) I had a pretty good time :)

Gorgeous bar, other than that, nothing special. Went here on a Saturday night with another girlfriend so we didn’t have any problems getting in, but talking to a few other patrons, it’s a hassle if you’re not on the list. We got there a little before 11 and there was about 20 other people in the place. It seemed very lax and loungey. .. .15 min later… damn, where did all these people come from??? It was a fight to get from one side of the bar to another. Mixed crowd ranging from the scruffy Affliction sporting to the dress shoes and collared shirt types. Most of the ladies were wearing flashy tops or short little dresses. Everyone seemed friendly, but there was an air of L.A. snobbery. The DJ spun top 40 and threw in a few 80’s hits here and there. $ 6 valet across the street, $ 10 – 12 drinks. Overall, it was just okay. Not my kind of scene.
