i met her first in a professional on-​set production and was immediately quite impressed by her creativity and hard work.
i later came to her as a client, after an unfortunate fiasco haircut (more like butchered). she cleaned up the mess and nurtured my hair though the year into a now awesome hair do.
finding a hair guru who really KNOWS HOW to cut curly hair is a very special gift.
i LOVE martine. i trust her so much, that we began to color my hair into another sophisticated dimension!
i have never received so many compliments on my hair since i started visiting her!

Fix flakey, over processed hair in a trailer without washing… she tamed it into waves of silk. Kinky wants straight… no problem for her. Beyond mad hair and make-​up skills is an eternal smile… same smile in 110 degrees F, plus humidity, trudging into a cactus desert, in a foreign country, as in a studio celebrity shoot. There is nothing better than Martine, she turns grays into a celebration, thoughts to visions and single strands into an orchestra. I have been with her for years and never left thinking maybe this or that could be here or there only it’s perfect! When it is time to go back I schedule with confidence knowing every penny is being spent on talent, precision and me. I’ve changed styles, colors and constantly moods Martine has never been a step behind, snippet short or an opinion hoarder. And okay so I also get to say «My stylist works with Usher» and she is better than yours! I met Martine in her early days when she was working as an apprentice. I knew she was unique not only because of her talent but specifically for her attention to detail. She was always professional but with a warm heart and kind words. She is a savvy business woman, and works hard to master whatever she sets her mind to doing; whether that be cutting, color, extensions, make-​up, or what the latest the beauty world has to offer.
I have followed Martine as she has grown, she has done my hair in her home with my infant son in my lap, to now in her beautiful new location. i couldn’t recommend her more highly.

I have been going to Martine for 4 years for my cut and highlights and cannot recommend her highly enough. She’s very talented in both categories, to the extent that I’m often stopped and asked about who does my hair! I’ve hired her to do make up and hair for multiple headshot shoots and am always so happy with the clean, natural look she achieves, and when I used Martine for hair and make up for a photo shoot, was blown away by her creativity and precision in achieving the look we wanted. She also did beautiful hair and make up for a friend’s wedding, so I know she really can do it all!

Martine did my hair and make up for my wedding in Hawaii. I planned my own wedding from California, so naturally when I got to Hawaii all hell broke loose to get everything together in such a short amount of time. With so much going on I didn’t even think about how I wanted my hair and make up done. Martine to the rescue!
I let her work her magic and do what she thought would look good. I felt beautiful, loved my hair and didn’t want to even take it out of the updo when it was all over. My make up was perfect throughout the wedding and reception and looked really great in all the pictures!

This s a review that is long overdue– Let me start this review by saying that I’ve been coming to Martine for over 10 years. I have been following her since she was a student and through selected salons. I was first drawn to her because of the wonderful blonde highlights in her hair and continue with her because of her expertise in hair color and precise cuts.
Lets talk about the color– her fortay– she bleached my hair for the ombré look from natural dark hair roots to and almost white blonde tips– it was blended to perfection, the color was not brassy or dry, it didn’t split and it was shiny. After several months I wanted to darken just a bit without losing the blonde– if that makes any sense ;) she nailed the look. her cuts are great, she listens to what you want and takes her time = Methodical and beautiful go hand in hand here. One of the many reasons why I come back is that I work in retail and constantly get compliments on my hair. Ive sent countless strangers, friends and family down her way but no matter who it is her personality adapts to all types. She is a loving and patient individual– so so genuine, new clients are sure to be welcome by her and keep coming back. When booking Martine, I always make an appointment and never just walk in, after all isn’t that a true sign of a talented hairstylist– I like the fact that she does celebrity hair and award shows because know I’m getting quality. We have been through hairstyles, boyfriends and life’s milestones together, and I will coninue coming back.

Martine is the best! I have been going to her forever and I would go to no other. She always makes me look like a superstar. When I want a color change, she nails it spot on and it doesn’t kill my hair. She is a genius — pure genius I say!!! She shows me techniques for styling and taking care of my hair. She has great suggestions when I have those days of «I don’t know what I want to do with my hair this time.» No matter what, I walk out of her salon feeling like a trillion bucks. On top of all her hair genius, she is just an amazing person and she is so easy to talk to. No awkward conversations or dull moments. Just fun and looking good!

I’ve been going to Martine for almost a year now and I love her. Luckily, after my previous stylist of 5 years moved to Seattle, a few of my friends recommended her. I dont trust just anyone with my hair and she is only the second person I’ve allowed and trusted to cut my hair.
I have four other women that highly recommended her and now I understand why. Each of us have completely different hair and each time she does any of us, the hair– cut, color, everything– is fabulous. She is talented and experienced and I’m so grateful for the recommendation.

All you have to do is look up my other reviews on Unilocal to see that I have only given 5 stars on one other occasion in my many years of actively Unilocaling! Full disclosure: I work in the advertising industry, so I am on many photo shoots with hair and make-​up crew. I have worked with countless hair stylists and I have gone to many to have my own hair done… My hair is naturally curly so it is no walk in the park to cut and color!
I am now having to get my hair colored every 3.5 weeks (stubborn gray roots). Let me just say that before I started going to Martine over a year ago, I dreaded this chore. Enter Martine and her calm, sweet, «Let me take care of you– there is no one on earth that I would rather be sitting in my chair» demeanor. It is so addictive that I drive all the way from Pasadena to Hollywood in rush hour traffic to her salon! When I get there, I am immediately relaxed and know that for the next few hours I have nothing to worry about…
The fact that this woman rocks with scissors and hair color is just icing on the cake. I have never seen someone so talented. She can assess your most flattering style and color in a nano second. That is not to say that she forces any new changes that you may not be ready for– quite the contrary. Someone else wrote «it was love at first CUT» about Martine, and I agree 100%.
I would even drive all the way to Santa Monica for her! Now, in LA, that is the supreme compliment! :)

Martine has been my go-​to stylist for my circle of friends and I for the past 5 years.
Funny enough, I met her when I was at the 99 cent store of all places buying religious candles when in line I turned around to see who was behind me and I see this lovely woman with amazing curly hair… I thought to myself. «Aleeza, you need to ask her where she gets her hair done or you will regret it». So I listened to my inner hair worshipper and did it…
«Ma’am I LOVE your hair, who does it?» She said «Thank you I do it myself, I’m a hairdresser»
«What’s your name and where do I go?»
«Martine & Goodform» (at that time she was at Goodform)

Those religious candles are really working and my purchase hasn’t even been completed yet… Because god just answered my prayer, after a month of failing to get a haircut even though I really needed one because I am afraid that people won’t know how to work my locks and my last hairdresser was just slacking and inconsistent with her cuts.
You see, my hair is my prized possession, even on a bad day I can just throw some sunnies on and shake my head and feel like a star. If someone Ef’s it up I have to go see my therapist for an emergency conference, I call FOX News, Homeland Security… it’s a big deal.
So the next day I booked an appointment with her at the salon, I was having the worst day EVER and was excited to escape into Goodform.
I was also hoping since I didn’t know her it wouldn’t be one of those awkward moments where you’re in the chair talking about stuff and you’re thinking «I just want to read US Weekly and catch up on all the trashy gossip about who’s doing who and who is wearing it better.»
However the minute Martine sat in front of me and started talking I was like «I ain’t gonna need no magazine… she’ll be just fine. Not only is she awesome and totally understood what I wanted «Sexy and Flowy» Yes!!! But her Personality ROCKS. She made my day.
She didn’t hack my hair… she loved it and cut it like it needed to be cut. All I can say is she LOVES what she does, and that makes for a lifetime hair experience. She’s my new go-​to girl for good hair.

Martine has been my stylist forever, and I love her! What makes this a big deal… well, I am a stylist also, and Martine has always been a mentor and an inspiration to me. She is a genius.
