I was recommended to St. Pucchi by a friend of a friend who knows the owner. The dresses in the store are very lovely and unique. The girls were very friendly. My problems began when I went to pick up the dress. I went into the store, and put the dress on but it was too small and wouldn’t zip over my hips. I was concerned, but the salesperson ensured me that this wouldn’t be an issue and that it would easily be taken out to fit. Ok, no problem. I don’t live in LA and didn’t have time to go to LA for fittings, so I took the dress and assumed all would be good. I found an excellent seamstress in San Diego who had worked with St. Pucchi dresses before. During our first fitting, she was shocked that I was ordered a dress that was too small. I later called St. Pucchi to ask why I had been ordered a too small dress, and the salesperson said that the bride is given the choice of a size up or the size closest to fit. I was never asked this and would have no idea what would be the best option as I am not in the wedding dress or alterations industry. My seamstress said she would let out the sides, but that we would need additional trim where there is beading on one side of the dress. When I contacted the salesperson about this, she had no idea why I would need extra trim. Even the owner in an email had no clue about the trim on the side. It was like neither had ever seen the dress before! We sent them a picture, and they did send trim. I had a second fitting last week. After the dress was let out as far as possible, the dress still doesn’t fit. It barely zips up, and we are terrified that the zipper will split as the zipper is poor quality for such a heavy dress. In order for the dress to fit, I will need to lose at least 5 lbs. While this may not sound like a lot, I had no plans to lose any weight as I am already a size 4 and didn’t want to get any slimmer. Since then, I’ve emailed the salesperson and received no response. My dress seems like a cheap expensive dress. While it is very beautiful, I am so disappointed by my experience and the quality. This was supposed to be my dream dress, but now the whole wedding dress experience has been ruined. If you are planning on buying an expensive dress, go with Oscar de la Renta or Vera Wang, where you will get an amazing dress for the cost.
