Yellowtail has been our Friday night date night restaurant for a couple months and we love it! The hostesses are very warm and welcoming and always remember to seat as at «our table» on the patio. Service is top-of-the-line. The server has several assistants and our table is always clean, plates and chopsticks replaced often, water refilled as needed and everyone is really friendly to us. The food is always fresh and delicious and the presentation is divine. We usually start with a baked crab hand rolls and oyster shooters and end the same way. In between we’ll have the regular oysters, rock shrimp, spicy tuna rolls and we like to something new, which is usually really good and different.

Not sure how to rate this place because I didn’t eat anything. To be fair, it’s trendy-looking with a nice décor, and it’s possible that the food is good. Sushi bar it is NOT, however, so if that’s what you’re looking for, go elsewhere. Went on a Monday night and, walking in, headed straight for what appeared to be the sushi counter; quickly found out, however, that there aren’t any seats at the counter… it’s just a tiny«prep booth.» Call me picky, but I don’t think ANY place qualifies as a «sushi bar» unless it includes a traditional counter to sit at so you can schmooze with the chefs while watching them perform their art. Great sushi can only be had at the counter because it deteriorates so quickly(especially if it contains toasted seaweed), that it’s usually a disappointment by the time it reaches the tables. And in even a halfway busy restaurant, it’s always more than a few minutes before sushi gets to the tables. If you want to consider it an Asian fusion restaurant that serves«table sushi,» it could easily rate more stars, but for lacking a traditional sushi counter, I can’t give it more than two. I’ll admit that it’s not advertised as a «sushi bar,» and it’s appealing on other levels, so I might return with friends to check out the other levels!

This place is more about the ambiance than the food. I mean the sushi is good but it’s not out of this world. A memorable dish that I highly recommend is the pop rock sushi roll. Apparently, the sushi chef’s mother had to sprinkle candy on the sushi to get him to eat it and so now he’s incorporated in a very interesting and delicious roll. Food that yummy and fun… go ahead try it! They have a DJ on certain nights and a couple times that I walked by it was going off with tons of people dressed to impress.

I came here with a group and I was pleasantly surprised that the old Mirabelle had some new life to it. I thought to myself, «okay another sushi bar» but I was wrong. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed ourselves. The menu is awesome and the service was great. We got crazy and ordered almost everything and we were not let down. The quality of the fish is great and I will for sure come back. Vale parking is right there on the side of the restaurant.

Finally tried Yellowtail last night and I am so glad that I did! To be honest I had heard some mixed reviews about this sexy new spot that opened on Sunset, so I did not have the highest expectations going in. I ended up being really pleasantly surprised. We were a group of six so were able to order a lot of the menu. The highlights were: The big eye tuna pizza! This was my favorite dish of the night and I could have eaten one to myself! Thin pieces of tuna were layered on a crispy phyllo dough and topped with a micro shiso and truffle oil. So light and so tasty! We ordered two for the table and they were gone in a flash! I’d come back for this dish alone. The protein roll: filled with tuna, hamachi, crab, salmon, asparagus and wrapped in soy paper, I love that this roll had no rice. Braised kobe beef shortrib was insane! So tender, with the most incredible sauce that that the perfect balance of salt and sweet. We devoured this and ended up ordering a second one! Yellow tail scallion roll and spicy tuna roll were also solid, although smaller pieces, but very fresh, as was the cucumber salad! I would not order the yellowtail jalepeno again nor the toro scallion roll. Neither were great. Overall service was wonderful and the energy in the restaurant was alive and fun. This is a great place to go for a fun group dinner. I would absolutely return.

3.5 stars. They butchered spicy tuna crispy rice. How can you ruin spicy tuna w crispy rice??? I’ll tell you. They give you a rice cake with a chunk of tuna on it and pour watered down spicy mayo on it. Ech. The yellowtail jalapeño was pretty good. Great sauce. The sushi is of average quality. I could have had the same in the valley. Didn’t have to cross the hill for this. The ice green tea was thick, tasted powdery, and gross. Grace was our server. I think that’s her name. She had a large party so we had to grab her attention a couple times but once they dispersed she was very attentive. Beautiful place though. Wish they put smaller tables because walking space is extremely cramped and you hit people’s chairs a lot or yours gets hit. Also their open table reservations have been down for a while.

I went here for my birthday dinner last week. We were about 15 minutes late for reservation but had to wait about another 20 minutes to get a table. The hostess was very friendly. I love the selection of drinks at this place… just take a look at the menu and you’ll see! This is the kind of place where you have three different people going to your table but you never really know who your waitress is… that being said we had to constantly flag down our waitress to get service. For three people the bill was over $ 200 and we were still starving. The portions are very small but tasty. A few memorable items on the menu were the popping spicy crab roll which had pop rocks(wasn’t sure how I felt about it… too sweet), the tuna pizza which was probably my favorite and the oysters which were small and okay. My friend ordered a soup and sent it back because she didn’t like it and they never removed it off the menu until we had asked for it. I’ve never driven to fast food after going to dinner but we ended up going to McDonald’s and Taco Bell to fill the hunger.

When I responded to the email the manager left for me, they didn’t respond, offer anything or even apologize formally. Good luck in LA!

I revisited Yellowtail last night and the food, service and atmosphere was out of this world! FOOD: I ordered several different types of sushi and they all were to die for! I also order the tuna pizza and it was simply amazing. SERVICE: The General Manager, Chris made my family feel like royalty. He made sure that we enjoyed our meals. He and his staff went above and beyond! You rarely get service like this in LALA Land! ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is simply gorgeous and cozy! Yellowtail made sure that I had a pleasurable dining experience this time around. I will definitely go back over and over. THISISMYNEWHOTSPOT. If you haven’t tried this place, please check it out! What’s missing in this restaurant? The food was good and our server was pleasant. But something wasn’t clicking with me and I wasn’t totally comfortable. Walking into the restaurant, there was a large, all dark brown space that had no focal point. There was also something like a small sushi bar in the back, but no bar, no chairs. Weird. There was a large covered patio dining area, but didn’t look organized. The main bar was in the middle of the restaurant and very squarely. There was also another dining area upstairs. This restaurant had a very plain looking décor in a large space with no focal point whatsoever. After Mirabelle was gone, the building was looking like left abandoned for a while. I was expecting the building to be transformed into something super gorgeous after Mirabelle, but alright, I was wrong. The place was nice, but they could’ve done a better job regarding producing ambiance. We ordered sushi rolls and Uni sashimi, and waiting, waiting, and waiting for the food to come out. Fortunately, the food was brought to us before I decided that I was forgotten. The food was good and came out with pretty presentations. Their cocktails were good as well. There were some unique items on the menu, too. I don’t mind coming back here and try those dishes, but they have so many competitors around here. Will Yellowtail be my first choice for dinner? Mmmm, I doubt it. 3 Stars.

So its Friday night okay. Im feeling like my boyfriend is getting a little bit bored of me. I am desperatly trying to find a place that will have amazing food and drinks so he can remember how GREAT I am… The name Yellowtail slithers into my brain like the little sneaky fish that it is. We arrive it has a very vegas feel to it. The loud/hip music and the design of it. We start off getting the Big Eye Tuna Pizza. –It is absolutly delicious. Like SERIOUSLYAMAZING I DONTKNOWHOW I CANPUTANYTHINGELSEINMYMOUTHAFTERTASTINGTHAT!(I ofcourse dont tell my bf this because im trying to salvage relationship remember) –There was one point when there was just one piece left and we had a little bit of a yellow tail stand off.(He got the piece for anyone wondering.) sometimes you have to give a little to get some later if you know what im sayin. I ordered the Braised Kobe Beef Short Ribs and I will never be the same. The meat was so soft it melted on my tongue. ITWASSOGREAT. My boyfriend(who is totally falling back in love with me at this point) got some rolls I dont remember which ones but they had crab and were spicy. so basically they were perfect like our relationship now. Also they have a drink thats like a moscow mule but with whiskey. As a vodka only snobby girl in my 20s. LETMETELLYA this was the best drink EVERRR. Now my boyfriend and I are in a heavenly bliss minus 200 bucks but its okay. I imagine our money is in a happier place now. We will be back.

The last time I was here was for Mirabelle! Yellowtail took over and completely revamped the space. I’d say Yellowtail is very Katsuya-esque but I’d pick Katsuya over Yellowtail. There were some high points such as great service and: *Big Eye Tuna Pizza(Micro Shiso & Truffle Oil) *Chilean Sea Bass(Black Bean Sauce) *Pork Belly/Brussel Sprouts Roll: In all transparency, I was the only one at the table that liked this. The pork belly was so crispy it was salmon skin-roll like. The Brussel Sprouts were dressed like the crappy cabbage/thousand island that comes with Katsu and I just happen to LOVE that kind of salad. Hence, I loved this. *THEIRDESSERT! No too sweet and really exquisite pairings. But otherwise, just A-OK. *Avoid their dynamite… it’s almost like it’s deconstructed with way too many mushrooms. *Their Baked Crab Hand Roll is good but KazuNori/Katsuya makes it better.

I’ve gone to this place twice already with my boyfriend. Absolutely in love! The ambiance is cool. Employees are super friendly. And the food is PERFECTION! The Tuna Pizza is delicious and a must try. There’s also this other roll we loved, forgot the name, but they pour a spicy mayo over it when they serve it, and it’s to die for! Octopus is yummy too! Definitely recommend this place. The upstairs seating is kind of boring, so try to get a table downstairs. Over all, a 4 star is much deserved!

Why does this place have only 27 reviews since its been open? Second visit and another knock it out of the park, home run experience! I didn’t think I could find more to love but I did… No wonder tables are always full… The general manager Chris has my respect for overseeing a great team of employees who take pride in their work. His recommendations were perfect all night and I was so happy taking a friend here for The first time. Adding to my list of favorites — the pork belly roll(which I have to be honest and admit I was never planning on trying). I think it might be my second favorite dish now. Wow. Thanks for the magic yellowtail. To be fair this spot is a bit pricey– but in my opinion it’s worth it for a great night out with friends, or with someone you want to impress.

My tummy is very happy with me tonight. This place is amazing. We had amazing service, delicious food, and the atmosphere was great. Tuna pizza. I didn’t get it… Until after I took a bite. That was amazing. Simple and delicious! Also amazing: Kobe beef tataki. Third amazing thing: the prime rib eye. Oh yeah, the baked crab hand roll was also outstanding. Their duck prosciutto thing was also really good. Other deliciousness: crispy rice, lobster carpaccio, and the jidori chicken. Spicy crab poprocks roll… Interesting. Sweet. Spicy. Pop rocks-y. Interesting… I like the story behind why there’s pop rocks in their sushi roll. :) Excuse me while I fall into a food coma. Yummmm.

First of all I should say the place is awesome and service is outstanding, specialy tonight we have been serve by jess, he is very nice and provides nice service. but the sushi is average, there is exceptional plates for appetizers and creative cocktails. I will go again for drink and appetizer but not for sushi, by the way for this quality of restaurant the price is ok.

First off, this is a $ 100 per person restaurant without liquor. Anything at that level customers are going to rightfully have higher expectations. Same price point than Nobu and Koi that I often go to. First off the décor and design is very nice inside but the patio needs a bit of work. The outdoor area doesn’t feel«prestigious» like Koi, the wicker type of patio furniture and table has a «country club» feel so not exactly what you would expect from a restaurant this caliber. The entrance is a bit confusing when you pull in the valet the main entrance is further down sort of on the parking lot. Beautiful entrance but… Why do you need a menacing bouncer at front? I mean I don’t mind and I’m sort of use to it going out in LA all the time but is it really necessary? It feels weird. If you have to put someone just put a polite and attractive men/women to greet and open the door. Now for the food! There’s no sushi bar inside but it didn’t bother me. We ordered a bunch of the dish to share. My favorite was the tuna pizza with truffle oil. We tried several other dishes to share and here it is in a nutshell: — Nothing wrong with the food but nothing spectacular or great. — Quality, presentation and flavor is below Nobu and Koi. — About the same level than Katana restaurant. — Small menu was expecting more creative dishes and better presentation. — Service was polite but slow. I wouldn’t mind coming back but this restaurant needs to step it up in the kitchen and just bring something unique and new if they want to compete in the highly competitive market of high priced sushi/Asian fusion.

I’m a sushi snob. If it were up to me, I’d eat, salmon, yellowtail, halibut, uni, tuna sushi all day. Not the biggest fan of rolls, but this place is an exception. It takes a major dump on other establishments like Katsuya where I can’t justify it’s existence. Yuck, just thinking about that place. I was invited to the soft opening and tried almost everything on their menu. It was fantastic with an array of different dishes all extremely well presented. The décor is put together with attention as well. Not over the top, but tasteful, classy and with some minimalistic influence. Our waiter was on top of it. Extremely well versed with every single ingredient included in the dish and recited it like it was 2nd nature. Service was also amazing. There were probably 20 + dishes we tried but the stand out items that I can remember are: A ginger whiskey cocktail to start off the night. Nicely balanced. The Blue-fin Tuna Pizza — Where the hell did this come from? I didn’t expect anything like this when I put it in my mouth, but goddamn. I think I ate half of it to myself. The truffle on top of it added so much to the flavor and the crispy crust was perfect. MUSTTRY. The sushi itself was good. Not the best, but good. I know this place is catered to more Americanized/fusion sushi so I can’t give them too much crap, but I’ve had better cuts. The rice wasn’t nearly up to par as I’d expect to come from Nobu. Not bad for a soft opening though. Short Rib — Very tender, well marinated. It’s a very rich sauce so make sure you get a side of rice or roll to follow it with. Really good. Sea Bass — Perfectly cooked. Seasoned very well. Possibly in the top 5 Sea basses I’ve ever tried. They also had a roll with Pop-Rocks in it which was really interesting. I’d get it again for a side dish, but not a single entrée IMO. Desserts — i can’t remember what we had, but it’s hard to go wrong with any of the items. Close your eyes and put a finger on it. I’d definitely come here again. Great times.
