WOWZA!!! Truly the BEST burger I have EVER had — SO yummy! Had to get the pub chips as a vehicle for the homemade ranch… heaven!!!

Burger and onion pedals were great. They had some challenges the day we were there but our service was great.

We got 2 burgers and they were good. The pub chips were terrific. The side salad had iceberg lettuce onions and tomatoes. Not my preference at all. Broccoli cheese soup was ok. The wings were terrible. Bad. Too much mustard based sauce. Our server was nice. But this place is way over priced and up charges for ranch and pub chips. Ridiculous.

Friendly, quick service. Pretty expansive menu, traditional American for sure. Had a black & Bleu Burger which was amazing, actually had flavor to it. Fries are skinny but still good, weren’t soggy or overcooked. Highly recommend this place.

There is a story behind the owners and how they arrived in the states from Romania.
Definitely a place I would return to for a burger but maybe not for the wings! They were a little too «saucy».

After reading the reviews, my husband had to have the burger. He was really disappointed that it was just like every other burger and maybe not even that good. I had the club wrap which was good and different that it came on a specialty tortilla wrap. It was good but not amazing. The service and staff were Awesome! The sweet potato waffle fries were the BEsT I’ve ever had! !! But the burger was not up to the reviews on the night we went.

I am from Ashe. Borne and raised. Me and my friend’s come here for the great, warm, fresh and good chili. They have TV’s. Everyone is nice. Food taste good. Would recommends.

So I decided to give Black Jacks another try yesterday… October 20^th, 2015. WOW. MUCH better experience. I ordered the same time as before. The basic Build-​A-​Burger and onion petals. My first visit, the beef patty was surprisingly thin and somewhat dry and overcooked. This time it was more than twice and thick and super juicy! I see now why this place has such good reviews on its burgers. I dont know what was going on October 10^th! But major improvement. My waitress (Addie) was fantastic!!! She kept me full of Pepsi, checked on me to see if my food was good and was very sweet and helpful. 5 out of 5 stars this time. It really couldnt have been any better. Cant wait to go back again!!! 8 more meals and I’ll get a free one :))) Cant beat that!!!

Moved here in April and there are plenty of places to grab a quick bite. Then I found Blackjacks. Best burger and fries I’ve had in a long long time. You will not be disappointed!

We were brought to this wonderful place this weekend for the first time and I have to say it was literally the best burger I have ever had. Virginia came up to our table and talked to us for about 10 min. She knew everyone there and was such a positive person. Even the appetizers we got (onion petals and fries mozzarella) were out of this world!

Probably the best burger ever the jack a ttack. Great place to have a beer and great food. Plus the wife thinks the wings are the the best. She never orders anything else. Love the owner, staff and the food. Highly reccomend.

Pretty cool place downtown, seems like a good mix of locals and tourists. Tap selection isn’t bad, beer was a little warm though. By far the best thing going for them is their burgers. Service was a little slow but the food was worth the wait. Good place for lunch while downtown.

Ok burger, blue cheese on burger was of poor quality… seemed to be blue cheese salad dressing with taste, but no cheese «lumps». Fries were good. Bun is of low quality. Had to «ala carte» order fries. A bit more expensive than Boondocks across the street which includes the fries. Also, the price of the fries was too much for a separate order. Recommend a ciabata bun or a better quality bun. Wife got a salad which was good.

Got a star because I cannot give a zero. Beer is not cold. Hamburger came wRong two times. Fries are greasy and soft. Save your time and money.

went there as an after party meal. i was excited to get some meat in my stomach so I ordered the burger. i have to say i wasnt at all impressed. the meat was raw. it was just like eating a live cow. very disgusting. fries wre soggy and mushed. service was fast but I could tell they just wanted food to come out fast. they dont care about how the food tastes or looks. i have to say waiters were rude. have to say i wont be leaving a tip or returning

Great burgers with a home cooked taste. We visited during lunch and had great service. Burger platters include chips — fries are $ 2 extra, but are great too. Recommended place to eat in quaint West Jefferson.

The burgers here were really good. Juicy and cooked just right. A nice atmosphere and the owner comes out of the back to say hello and welcome you to the restaurant.

It really is the best burger in town! So good, can’t even describe it. Boneless wings are puny. They charge for ranch– who does that?!? Owner is awesome and personable.

Wow, I think I have just eaten the best burger outside of my house… Ever! My wife had the wings that were nicely drenched in a thick buffalo sauce an d had the homemade blue cheese. Would definitely come back here again and again.

My worst dining experience in 35 years. I’ve spent 12+ years in restaurant management, and I was amazed, over and over again how poorly this place was managed and operated. We found this place online because I’d their blackjack burger challenge. (3lb burger in 30 minutes) we had an adventurous eater in our group, so we went there specifically for the challenge, and informed the waitress of it as we were seated. There were three other tables there at the time, two servers and one employee doing nothing but drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.
After our server checked with the cook, we were told that it may take about 30 minutes to prepare the challenge. We were okay with the wait and graciously accepted the delay. After about 30 minutes the server decided to take our food order. All except the challenge eater ordered. I also ordered a beer. 20 minutes later I had to remind her that I had ordered a beer. She promptly brought me a room temperature draft beer.
Another 15 minutes went by and our food arrived (minus the burger challenge). Our server proceeded to drop a chicken finger platter on me and a chicken finger lands in my lukewarm beer. We wait another 15 minutes for that meal to be recooked. At this time she tells us that the cook hasn’t started our burger challenge yet because some other tables just came in, but it would start shortly.
After we were all finished with dinner, she came back to tell us that the cook was angry and throwing things. She was afraid to ask about our burger challenge. At this point we had been there two hours. We conceded defeat and asked for our checks. She ran our cards after about another 15 minutes and shortchanges our only cash paying member by 5 bucks. We maintained nothing but politeness and benefit of the doubt during the entire experience. I saw no resemblance if a manager or an owner on site and cannot believe hat anyone would allow this type of service when their reputation depends on it.
If I ever vacation near wear Jefferson again, I’ll eat at the gas station before I go back to black jacks pub. Avoid at all cost.
