I am a huge fan of DQ. Their chicken strip baskets are great, their burgers taste amazing, and their French fries are delicious. It’s really great that one finally opened up in the Chauncey Hill area because the one out by Purdue West(although it’s a great place to eat) was so far away from everything. It was great for students living in the dorms, but not for people in apartments. The atmosphere is great – the inside resembles more of a social area rather than a place to eat, which creates a comfortable feeling. There is a lot of activity on that corner, and the giant glass window facing the street can get awkward sometimes because people tend to look in and watch you eat, but that’s not that big of a deal. Having a DQ/Orange Julius was a great idea. I had never had Orange Julius and this was a great opportunity to try it, and I was very satisfied. I think the DQ here will do incredibly well.

This new DQ is located in the space which housed the Parthenon for years(they have moved out on US52, north of West Lafayette.) We were surprised to find the new Dairy Queen suddenly there. On going inside we ordered a medium size Orange Julius. As our Julius was getting made we asked the guy how long they had been open. He replied that this was the first day and we were their first customer! The place is newly redecorated, spacious and clean. It is much brighter than it had been before. I am sure they will be kept very busy once Purdue starts in the fall. They have all the standard Dairy Queen fare plus ice cream cakes and specialty items you can get to go. It’s nice to have someplace to get an Orange Julius in town now.
