Bring an empty belly. I always end up with the Ruben because it’s the best around. I also get the pub chips. It’s a ton of food, come really hungry or take some home with you! If I remember correctly you can choose if you want to meat hand pulled it sliced. Hand pulled is my favorite!

Very authentic Irish bar right off of campus. They have a great selection of beers and Irish Whiskey, along with the rest of your normal alcohol. The service was very friendly. We did not have food, but what we saw coming out looked amazing.

Typically a great place, they changed their mashed potatoes to a gross instant imitation and their soda bread recipe has also been taken down a few notches most likely to save on costs. This shows a lack of respect for customers and greed when prices aren’t cheap and you cut corners like this.

I’ve been a regular for years, it’s my family’s favourite place. In fact, we have made a bit of a traidtion to visit on Christmas Eve, which we’ve done for the 4 past years. Corned beef and cabbage is very good. Fish and chips is excellent. They have a Banger Sandwich(seasonal special I think) that is awesome. Guinness on tap — the best you’ll ever have. I’m a big fan of their Magners(on tap) as well. Lately I’ve been doing the Reuben for lunch, my daughter loves their Bangers and Mash. Atmosphere is fun and authentic, they often have live music on weekends, which is a blast. Place can get noisy at times, but it is a pub after all. They are kid friendly during daytime and early evening hours. Never been there too late, I imagine things pick up later, especially at this location(walking distance to Purdue University). Their East Side location(in Lafayette) we frequent less often, but the food is similarly excellent, and the atmosphere is a bit more subdued. Prices are good. Family of 4 can eat there for 50, its easy to keep a lunch bill around 20 bucks.

Enjoyed the shepards pie. Not many choices for good restaurants in the area so this one rates high.

Great atmosphere and great food. Definitely try the fried pickles. I ordered the full order of fish and chips and had enough to share with the whole table.

Ordered: glass Chardonnay, draft Smithwick’s, mussels(appetizer) and prawn cocktail(appetizer) — Mussels in cream/wine were INCREDIBLE. — Prawn cocktail was extremely misleading. Were definitely just cocktail shrimp. Not worth the price at all. Cocktail sauce was good, very hot with horseradish. — drinks were appropriate temperature, well-poured, fresh. Drinks came very quickly. Good atmosphere, good service

Love it! Can’t go wrong with half fish and chips and Bulmers/Magners cider! If you want that authentic pub experience, this is the place to go.

One of the better pubs I’ve been to, and definitely the best in the Purdue/lafayette area. Fried pickles are the best around, beer battered and served with an awesome tangy sauce. Standard Irish classics like molly malloy, corn beef, Reuben, bangers, etc. GIANT fish and chips meals. Great large patio area out back. Definitely recommended.

Great service and even better food! There are two locations in Lafayette, one on campus and the other off Sagamore near Pet Smart. They recently opened up a new location in Indianapolis on Mass Ave! In college my friends and I frequented this establishment often, but since graduation my husband and I will stop here on occasion for dinner. After we traveled to Ireland we wanted to come back and compare it to the food we encountered in Dublin & Galway. They stack up against the real deal! The environment feels like a traditional Irish pub and they often have bands come and play traditional Irish songs. The bar has a great selection, but I normally get Baileys on the rocks or a hard cider when we visit and the husband gets a Guinness. We typically order the pub chips with their shamrock(mustard) sauce. I just love them. So addictive! The fish & chips are my favorite meal and you get a TON for the price. My husband normally gets the Shepherd’s Pie or or Guinness Stew, both great options as well! Many college nights spent here. Great vibe and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Excellent service and delicious food. My husband had the fish and chips and I had two appetizers: goat cheese fritters and Irish pizza. He also had a black and blonde and I had a great, affordable flight of whiskers. The only problem with the meal was the bread pudding. Although tasty, it resembled more of a smashed up, hot oatmeal cookie. There was no discernible chunks of bread in it at all, which is fairly strange. Wonderful Irish pub atmosphere and I would definitely go again and tell my friends to go, too!

The atmosphere was college lively with a great Irish ambience. Our waiter was the best I have ever had. We had a group of thirteen and he kept us entertained, quick service, and our drinks were never empty! The kilt helped with the younger women in our group! The food was perfect. I had the Manhattan, which is an open faced pot roast sandwich with mashed potatoes and this to die for gravy! The have a large variety of whiskey. We had the best seat in the house, right in the middle of it all. A large beautiful piece of wood bar table. Will go again when I am in town again!

Great staff. Great food, beer, whisky. I love the corned beef and cabbage and the Ruben. The fish in a bag is great. Lots of great live music. West side location is usually crowded but not so much east side

Good place to grab a beer with friends– local hangout spot. The food was just okay. I would prefer a few more tv’s for watching the game but I don’t think they are going for the sports bar vibe. Fine place it’s just not a place I would revisit while traveling.

In town for work and tried this pub. Pretty legit Irish pub… lots of memorabilia on the walls, cozy booths, dark wood, and Guinness on tap. We tried the potato skins with corn beef to start. They were great. Good corn beef. Tart sauerkraut. Sweet thousand island dressing and swiss cheese holding everything together. For my meal I had the stew. Good pot roast, mashed potatoes and thick gravy. Pretty tasty!

We LOVE the fish and chips here! The music is very pleasant. They have lots of seating, though it looks small from the outside. The wait staff are very pleasant. We’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it all tastes fantastic. It’s a great place to bring visitors. Our sister, who is an international traveler, said it was very much like pubs in Ireland — very authentic. She also enjoyed the food.

Dropped in on a Sunday night before our STAR day. Great friendly service. Order ½ orders bc it is a LOT of food! Delicious red ale. And here it is: BEST. .. REUBEN. .. EVER! Pulled corned beef and creamy Swiss cheese, sauerkraut &1000 Island pressed in panini style grill! «Kinda ugly and kinda hidden, but this was a really good choice,» says our 18 yo future Boiler Maker.

Three words – fish and chips. Get them! They’re amazing! The fish is very mild & the breading is perfect. Pair it with a Guinness or hard cider and you have the perfect meal for lunch or dinner. The service was also great. Our waitress was still in her training phase, but I wouldn’t have known it if weren’t for the other waitress standing with her. She made sure our drinks were always filled and our food came out warm & fresh.

Ever since it opened, I’ve loved 9 Irish. If you come when the car bomb burger is the special, get that because it’s absolutely delicious. Otherwise, it’s pretty hard to go wrong here, but make sure your entrée comes with an order of chips – they are some of the best pub chips I’ve ever had, in any country. The décor is hardcore Irish pub. Like, wobbly stools that are barely two feet off the ground, wooden everything, cramped coziness, and stuffed with Irish pub knick-knacks. The beer is decently priced too, and service is pretty responsive.

The obvious comparison here is to the Irish Lion in Bloomington. Ok, and maybe to every other Irish bar in the world. Let me start with the specifics. I had the fish and chips and it was excellent. The fish was very crispy and not overly greasy. The chips/fries were so so. They were essentially french fries cut as cross sections of potatoes. Nevertheless, with a splash of malt vinegar, all was well. I also really enjoyed the cole slaw – i wouldn’t swear by it, but I suspect that they make it there. The soda bread was a tad TOO sweet for me. But nice nonetheless. The décor is pretty typical of an Irish pub – flags, beer signs, soccer… BUT with he caveat that there is a really cool backstory about the family that owns the bar. They are a typical Midwestern Irish Catholic family – with 14 children(all baby boomer era) and there are anecdotes about all of them typed up and framed around the bar. Good stuff. So, Nine Irish Brothers vs. The Irish Lion in Bloomington. I’m an IU grade, so what else can I say? The Lion has the history, it has the Irish puff balls, it has the whiskey. The soda bread at Irish Lion is definitely better. That said, Nine Irish Brothers is great. If you have to be in West Lafayette, check it out.
