Nice enough but CRAZYEXPENSIVE! A gallon of their milk costs twice what the same brand costs in the organic section of Payless. Ditto for their produce; nice but $ 2 for an organic avocado in season? Peaches were $ 7 a pound and they looked a little tired. Makes sense; because no one can afford them. Too bad because I’d like to support a local market like this, but I’d rather be smarter with my money and donate to worthy causes.

I’ve been shopping here a lot since moving to the area, and must say that although they offer great items, my wallet is suffering. I have since reserved shopping here for specialty items not easy to come by at Payless Supermarket and bulk bin items. I’ve found produce especially is very expensive here yet I will sometimes buy this as well. Although they have a limited amount of fresh veggies and fruit, all of it is organic and/or locally grown, which I greatly appreciate. Additionally, Sunspot does offer membership cards so you can get store discounts, which does help depending on what you buy. The staff is very friendly. You’re always greeted with a «welcome» at the door. In addition, if you’re having trouble finding something, ask! I couldn’t find what I was looking for, and after asking one of the workers, she informed me that she would special-order the item from another store. She took down my information, and I received a call a couple days later from a worker, letting me know the food had arrived. Similarly, I believe you can put in a request for them to carry something they don’t currently stock. You can’t beat this type of customer service. I would recommend this store, but shop smartly and be aware of repeat items that you can get much cheaper a few minutes down the street. ..

Very good selection of healthy food. I was kind of disappointed with their produce selection and that was the only reason I came to this place so I didn’t buy anything.

Sunspot is a nice, albeit small, market, that specializes in organic /vegetarian /local food, and natural cosmetics and herbal supplements. They have great produce, a good selection of interesting beverages, and a wonderful selection of chocolates and ice creams /iced non-dairy milk substitutes! They cater to a diverse set of dietary needs from foodie(me!) to vegan, to gluten-free. The majority of their stock is conscientiously grown /produced, which I appreciate. The staff are also quite intelligent and friendly. They can be quite pricey — much of their frozen food is available for much less at Pay Less(Kroger) /Wal-Mart(but then you have to go to Wal-Mart… Sunspot is so much more pleasant). If you are a student, I highly recommend going on Thursdays — there are great discounts! I know there are senior discounts as well, but I am not there yet, so I am somewhat ill-informed :)

I love Sunspot. They are really helpful and the store is beautiful. They have a large selection of groceries, produce, and supplements. They also carry body care products and gifts. I love the jewelry! I also love the bulk spice and herb section because its fresh and much cheaper to buy then the poor quality spices in the regular stores. They have discount days for students and seniors, and also school faculty/teachers. Gluten-free section, delicious ice creams, I could go on and on.

Lafayette/WLaf’s «other» health food store.(The other being Nature’s Pharm.) Sunspot is a little more vegetarian focused, has a slightly different supplement selection, and has a larger and usually more reliable produce selection. They also carry Jenni’s Splendid Ice Cream, which is, as advertised, splendid. ;) They have a good organic dairy selection — TPC and Horizon primarily. They’ve got some local meat — This Old Farm, and Sheepdog Farm mostly. The staff isn’t quite as knowledgeable as NP, but it’s still a good store. :) If you’re on the West side already, it’s probably easier to hit Sunspot than NP.
