I have had better sushi from Target. The rolls were terrible! Mushy rice, unrecognizable fillings, brown avocado. They use very little fish, and it’s poor quality. I peeled off the rice and ate some of the rolls because I was starving. The miso soup had an off taste and oily mouth feel. I added soy sauce to make it more palatable. At this point, I’m at a loss for words. Shumai bought at a grocery store and Sam’s club shrimp. Amazingly bad. Wow, no hyperbole required… really, really bad.

Decent little place with reasonable prices. Wasabi not super fresh and«hot» wasn’t very spicy at al. Very casual, food prepared immediately, a nice change of pace from fast food. Good for quick sushi.

Tsunami always has my back. It seems my sushi cravings hit me when everyone else seems to be closed, late or Sunday’s, but itchiban is there when no on else is. The quality of the sushi, along with the variety and creativity of their rolls, now had landed this place as one of my top favorites in the Greater Lafayette area. They plate the sushi beautifuly. If you’re looking for something else their hot pots seem to be the way to go. Although I haven’t tried them yet, it is what most of the patrons are dining on. Check them out for great food thats reasonably priced.

Tsunami is a small, cute restaurant located in Chauncey square. Every time I go to tsunami, I always make sure to get the Ahi Tower. It’s my favorite dish, and so delicious and filling. The food is fresh, and given in a timely matter. Also, each dish comes with complimentary miso soup. The staff are all friendly and I have always had a positive experience. If eating with a party of more than 6, I would recommend maybe calling ahead and making a reservation because it is so small.

I’ve been to Tsunami maybe 3 times and everytime I loved what I got. This time my friend and I tried the octopus balls and the spicy prom rice bowl. Korean Japanese fusion dinner. He rice bowl was pretty good but the octopus ball was just ok. I love octopus but the dough was just too wet. Anyways I definitely recommend to give Tsunami a shot if you like Korean Japanese cuisine.

This restaurant is in the Chauncey area, and is one of the only places I’ve ever been to in my life that serves gourmet instant ramen and instant udon. Their preparation of hot water to powder packet ratio is superb. As a dim witted college student, I could never concoct a mixture of such excellence with my own hot water maker and powder packet tipping technique. The miso soup is absolutely to die for, as in if you’ve ever had real miso soup in your life, you’ll die from how wonderfully artificial their miso soup is by comparison. In this day and age, people often settle for for faster, shittier food, and no place does it better than Tsunami. If you want to spend 5 or 6 dollars on 1 dollar instant noodles to treat yourself out to eat without having to feel guilty about eating fancy, real restaurant food, this is the place to be! On the upside, they gave me free Minute Maid lemonade. Don’t forget to go to Taco Bell afterwards,(there’s a door within the restaurant for convenient access as soon as you fork over your hard earned money or your parents money). Too bad Taco Bell admits that it’s fast food, doesn’t that just take all the fun out of it?

Appetizers there are better than other places. Sushi rice bowl is great too.

Surprisingly fresh sushi for being in Indiana! I absolutely LOVED the caterpillar roll. We also had the sunset roll and pacific roll which were pretty good. The octopus dumplings were interesting and tasty as well. This place is pretty small, but the service staff was pretty attentive. Seems like this place gets a decent amount of takeout as well as dine-in customers. I would definitely come again. Keep it up, Tsunami!

Excellent customer service and delicious food. I’ve had a couple of their chicken dishes and found them to be fresh, hot, and delicious! The sushi is not the best on campus but still in the top 3.

Tsunami is a small restaurant with 5 tables. Seats 14 people maximum. First off, service was impolite. The waiter dropped off two bowls of miso soups for us. Before I can ask him for white pepper/black pepper, he walked away to talk to another customer. Food is below average. Portion sizes are tiny for what you are paying. My girlfriend and I ordered one appetizer and two entrees. In the Ahi Tower, it is made up of 80% rice for the $ 9 you are paying. Personally I think the spicy tuna was really spicy. The chicken katsu curry sauce had a stark raw curry powder flavor. The chicken katsu bento box had a side salad, a scoop of rice, and the chicken itself. Rice and salad were okay. The chicken was swimming in salty Terayaki sauce. Although they had sushi, we didn’t order any. There were pictures of their rolls on the menu but they didn’t look too appetizing. All together we paid $ 30 for dinner. I was still hungry after I left.

Tsunami replace the A-haz store, but they have the same staff I believe. Their food is top notch! I love their rolls(especially the shrimp tempura roll with the shredded crab and spicy mayo on top), udon, and their beef and chicken teriyaki bentos! Great flavors, clean taste, the price is worth it! There is not a lot of seating at all though, be prepared for that!

3.5 Stars. Tsunami has good food. They’re newly redone, so I’m guessing they’re replacing an old restaurant. I went around 5 on a Sunday night and had the chicken teriyaki – it was good, and served in an authentic bento box. There was complimentary miso soup, which was a plus(even though it didn’t have any tofu). It’s pretty good although their food is a little bit overpriced for the amount they give. But hey, quality of quantity right? Their food is a little bit above average-although be warned, it’s self serve, so you’ll dispose of your food yourself.

Really liked the food selection and prices. Miso soup and edamame are what I crave and it’s rare to find it in one place that not only tastes good, but is kind to your wallet. Tried out some of their sushi rolls Caterpillar and California and thought they had good flavor and tasted fresh. Between the food and the friendly staff it’s a definite place to add to my list of top restaurants. Would give it 5 stars but it’s a bit crowded, space wise but luckily there’s take out.

My wife and I discovered Tsunami a few weeks ago when Maru was closed and we wanted Sushi with some friends, and wow am I glad we did! The food is just fantasic, especially for the price. The rolls are well proportioned and the ingredients very tasty and delicious. The only downside is that seating is VERY limited and it is a campus restaurant, so there are frequently lots of students in there. But if you’re fine with that, I really cannot recommend Tsunami enough, especially the #39 and the Spicy Ramen bowl. Soooo good!

Previously known as Ah-Z Japanese Fusion, Tsunami carries on the tradition of being non-traditional with interesting combinations of sauces and sushi. Sushi rolls are fresh and beautiful. Be sure to ask for their sauces!
