Today I’m reflecting on my experience at Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe in West Linn, Oregon. First of all, I’ve been a customer of this wonderful shoppe for a few years, and I couldn’t think of one thing I would suggest to make it any better! Maybe it’s the fact that the shoppe is decorated to inspire. Maybe it’s the friendliness I’ve felt from the very beginning from the owners and staff. Maybe it’s just how happy I feel after I visit. I can’t choose just one thing… it all goes hand in hand to make this quilt shoppe the best for me and so many other«friends» I now know as a result of being a frequent customer. Last year, I took my first class… now I’m hooked! Let me just say, it’s addicting! I’ve now attended so many classes that I’ve lost count, along with special events like the Breakfast Club, Mystery Quilt, Wool n Harvest… the list goes on and on! Now, I’m looking forward to attending my first Homespun and Holly event! The folks at this shoppe always go above and beyond the norm, so I know it will be epic! I’d also like to remind others that it’s really true that you get what you give… try it, you’ll fall in love with this beautiful shoppe!

This place is A-ok. This quilt shop is beautiful, impressively so. The fabric is displayed in very unique ways. They have more quilts on display than most other quilt shops I have been to and that was fun! It’s always great to see other people’s works! Hollyhill also has a great stockpile of pre-cuts! Best selection in the area in my opinion. Charm packs, mini charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes, and fat quarter/half yard cuts of most, if not all, fabrics they have in the store stored right next to the bolt. Awesome! Prices also were on par with area quilt shops and online stores. As for selection, one word: Moda. I was a little overwhelmed by Moda. They do have flannels but I was missing my other favorite manufacturers, maybe they were hidden, maybe they were transitioning, who knows. However, this abundance of Moda made this place have a little less personality than I wanted. Layout is difficult to maneuver in and I had a hard time viewing everything, I walked around about four times to get a feel of the place. Fabric is organized by collection. Customer service was a little off for me. It was definitely friendly but felt a little forced and there wasn’t the usual«What project are you working on?» questioning that I am so used to at other stores as they help me find the right materials. I kept trying to make small talk and got one word answer. Not a big deal, but but wasn’t what I was looking for. This quilt shop didn’t really jive with my style so I think I will stick to other shops, but the availability of pre-cuts may keep this place open as a possible stop in the future.

This is one of the busiest quilt shops I have ever gone to. I’ve had to wait to get fabric cut and wait to speak to someone about a project I’m working on. I expect it because the place is so busy, and I’m ok with that. It happens when you have some of the best quilts in town. There’s no way I’m going to miss out seeing this years decorations and quilts Brian features for the current holiday. How can I? Its awesome every year! I haven’t experienced the rudeness some of you talk about here. I’ve been a little testy myself on occasion only because I’m in a hurry and I have to remind myself its quilting not brain surgery. I think the mood of the shop is relaxing and accommodating. And while I’m ranting, this shop is a quilt shop not a feed store, elbows up!

It does not get any better than this. I live in Northern California and have visited the store 3 times, twice with my family in tow and once on a road trip with quilting buddies. We all loved the store, including the décor and gifts. The visual presentation as you walk in is wonderful. Keep up the good work!

I’m not sure why this store has a four star rating. It must must be for their fabulous fabrics, and quilt samples. It’s certainly not for their customer service. I’ve purchased several kits and many many bolts of fabric from here in the past, but my last visit was so disappointing that I will probably never go back. The staff was rude and not helpful at all. That is so unfortunate! I mean, really… how hard is it to be friendly and share your quilting expertise with your fellow quilter?

This is the most beautiful quilt shop I have ever been in and I am giving it 3 stars because of that but not because of customer service. However if you read the 15(1 star) reviews that have been filtered out by Unilocal, they are all only one star for a reason, poor customer service(read them and see for yourself). Speaking from personal experience I think if customer service was priority those reviews wouldn’t be there nor need to be filtered out which is probably what will happen with this one…

After being a very loyal customer for years, I will no longer spend money in this store. Whenever we had out-of-town friends who are quilters, this is where we’d take them. No longer. It all started when they had a «second store in the same building» as the description says. This was where they kept all the modern and children’s fabrics. I’m a bright fabric lover, so this is the store I wanted to be in! I’d been there 4 different times, to only find out that«side» was closed for one of several reasons. I heard reasons such as «resetting the store» and«not enough staff». Neither of those issues is my problem, and yet, I have to deal with it. I was told rudely to «call to see if it’s open». Kiss my what? Then – there was a blog post and an email with a condescending tone from Brian, the Co-owner of the store. That was it – my business isn’t wanted, so it has gone elsewhere. It’s unfortunate, because they do have one of the better fabric selections(but only if you like Moda) in the area. You want the selection – go to Fabric Depot. You want service? Go to The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego or Speckled Hen Quilts in Aurora.

I placed an order on-line with this fabric shop… they had great prices and a great selection! I ordered 7 yards of a specific fabric(assuming they didn’t have it, but a girl has to try, right?!) I asked them to contact me if they did not have the full amount, an hour later I get a phone call from a very nice gentleman telling me they only had 5 yards available, and asking if that would be okay. A little while later a very kind woman called back to make sure they were giving me the best prices on flat rate USPS Priority shipping! They shipped my order later that day and it arrived 2 days later(to Colorado!). They were a pleasure to work with from start to finish, I will definitely be shopping with them again!

My review stands and I don’t appreciate being called a liar. I have nothing to gain from sharing my experience(things that happened to me).
