I was pleasantly surprised! If you live in West Linn dont ever go to a sushi train/boat/track again!!! Great prices, fresh fish and large quantity! Doesn’t get much better. And its a small quaint place. The ambience is average but I personally eat sushi for quality not to pay for an eclectic overpriced meal. Locally owned and staffed family restaurant.

My first one star review… Was hoping to find a good sushi place near our house and went here based on the Unilocal score. I have no idea how this place has 4 stars unless people are just being nice or haven’t been exposed to good sushi. First off, its your normal kind of run down looking mom and pop shop that could use a face lift. Fine, who really cares about the atmosphere when you’re hungry? The place was far from packed(maybe 6 tables with people) and had 2 waiters but the service was slow albeit friendly. Also, I guess they push the«boats» there which have a ton of sushi on them, so the one chef has items coming out pretty slowly. We ordered edamame which came out reasonably fast, about 10 minutes, and was the best part of the meal. There wasn’t anything special about it but everything went down from there. The miso soup was underwhelming and then after a long wait, about an hour, the sushi arrived. We had ordered a rainbow roll, some nigiri, and something else. As soon as the fish was placed my girlfriend and I looked at each other. I thought it looked weird and she thought it smelled weird(I dont have much sense of smell). We both tried a piece of the rainbow roll and were disgusted, it tasted as if it had been frozen at one time, it was watery and chewy. She was done after that first piece but I also tried a piece of the nigiri and that was it, I was done. I asked the waiter if they were using fresh fish(it sure didn’t taste like it to me) and his response was that the chef«cuts it every morning». I’m not sure exactly what that’s supposed to mean but I didn’t want to get into it. I offered to pay for the edamame and miso but we were not going to eat that sushi, they told us not to worry about it and we were on our way. Not sure if it was mental or the fish but we both felt too nauseous to eat dinner that night.

We’ve eaten here dozens of times over the last year, mostly take-out. I make allowances for their sushi because of the take out factor. I usually find at least 1 order of nigiri slightly inedible. But the cooked food while pricey($ 10 for a kids meal) is really pretty good. Until this last order. As my husband was eating he said«this meat doesn’t look right». That should have been his warning sign but at over $ 22 for the plate he ate it and was sick all night. I went in to complain and the(way too young) manager apologized and offered a refund. I looked down at the receipt in shock when I realized he had given us a $ 10 refund off an $ 80 total order that my husband was up all night with. WE’LLNEVERBEBACK.

Went when it wasn’t as busy with my brother and my mom and they were very attentive and the food was great considering that options for sushi in West Linn are slim. I think their prices are a little steep for above average sushi.

I just moved here from Los Angeles so I may be a bit spoiled, but reading all these 4 – 5 stars reviews makes me think that patrons have never had quality sushi? This was a very very poor representation of a beautiful Japanese delicacy. It’s a shame. In a beautiful place like this in such a great town there should be at least ONE good sushi joint? We first ordered water. Which was clearly tap water. Ewwww. Then we ordered a dragon roll. Below average. I had asked for scallops but he replied“what?” Is the chef Japanese??? Yes scallops! He replied. «I don’t have». Um ok? Anyway, we then ordered green mussels. Which aren’t listed as green muscles … «he don’t have» those either. So we ordered the Tuna Tar Tar which they made up their own rediculouse name for, like most of their so called Japanese items. I’m telling you, a true Sushi Chef would laugh at this poor attempt to be eclectic! Then the Unagi! I ordered it saying it just like this: «one order of Unagi please». He said«what??? Eel?» Seriously? Yes. eel. Do you not know your own language? Ugh Anyway. The menus had tons of gunk on them. Make that lazy waiter clean them!!! Yuck! And bad soap operas were playing at 3pm. Someone needs to come in and take that place over. It’s a great location that needs a huge makeover and a new chef!!! And the sushi was horribly displayed. Guess I need to drive to Portland and pay for the quality I want.

I normally go to Sinju sushi or Sushi Land, but I recently discovered Saprona which has become my new go-to sushi haven. Saprona has quick service, and a quaint and cozy atmosphere. The sushi is wonderfully textured and can be warm or cold and has so many great flavors I cannot even begin to explain. Everything on the menu is worth sampling… which makes for a fun and exciting experience. Tonight my partner and I had the sushi bomb, the Las Vegas, the crazy roll, a couple other rolls and lastly a sea weed salad. The portions are decent… we were just starving… don’t mind us haha.

Saprona has the typical fare like dragon and spider rolls, along with some decently fresh raw fish. The place also offers green, red and orange dragon rolls, as well. My wife enjoys the Thai side of the menu, which is a relief because she isn’t big on putting raw anything into her mouth, which is too bad if you ask me. She’s kind of a germaphobe even when the item in question is certifiably fresh and germ-free. But, hey, we can’t all be adventurous, I guess. Like they say in Japan: «Eating in the raw is not for the timid.» So mixing Thai and Japanese is less than authentic, but in terms of the practicality, it’s a welcome choice when one lives in West Linn. Let’s face it, we don’t have a huge amount of restaurants to choose from here. When you can go to the same place and get your dose of sush –n-saki while the missus sips on her standard bowl of Tom Kar soup. .. well, that’s A-Okay. Kids like the big menu, too. Plenty to choose from.

Based on the good reviews we gave it a try. Nice selection of saki but the food is over priced. We will probably continue to get our sushi and Japanese meals at the Sushi Boat in West Linn.

The BEST sushi place in the Portland metro area! Hands down. Quality is awesome! Randy does a great job with the presentation. Ask him about the Uni. He only brings it in on Fridays if it’s extremely fresh. Maybe if more people ask for it, he may bring it more often. He prepares sushi boats also for bigger parties. I had Randy make one for the NCAAF championship this year, all the people at the party were amazed with the taste and quality.

A small restaurant located on a little business strip in West Linn. Went into this restaurant twice in one day, once when my wife was getting a massage so I could check out the menu, and the other time was a few hours later when we ate there. Both times it took a while before anybody greeted me upon entering. The sushi chef hardly spoke English(but was friendly) and there was hardly a waiter or greeter to be found. The menu had a lot of choices, but wasn’t the most organized in my opinion. The food was overall better than some other sushi places I’ve been to, but not the best. The price seemed a bit high for the quality, but overall was good/ok. I ordered a sushi combination, and had some adamame for an appetizer. I was a little surprised the adamame was $ 5+. Crazy Sushi, one of my favorite sushi restaurants, gives it to you for free with many of their meals. Anyway, for now I’d give this cozy restaurant 3ish stars, and if I ever go back I may adjust, but live far away.

The rolls are huge. For a sushi bar without a belt, fresh made to order, I give them four stars. I have not had a bad menu item. What I have tasted ranges from average to delicious. We try something new every time. I feel that for our local area, this is the best that you can get without traveling too far. It is not the best, but it is a far cry from the worst. The sushi«sandwich» was so much fun and very good. So many flavors from sweet to spicy. The hand rolls are fabulous. The quality of the fish is better than average, especially for this area. Buttery salmon, clean tasting tuna and white fish. I will try something new every time and post pictures with a description and review. I encourage others to do so as because the menu is so large, too large in fact. It would be nice if they scaled it back. Quality and quantity(for those who can eat a lot of sushi) justify the price in my opinion. Also taking into account this is West Linn $$$. The establishment is clean and has a nice ambience. I found the service to be polite. UPDATE — I finally found something on the menu I do not like. Going against my better instinct to order the«Tuna Tower», I opted for the«Cube Tower» since it had not been reviewed. Instant regret. This crispy rice packed monstrosity was covered in Strawberries, Cilantro and Cashews. The beautiful flavors of the spicy salmon and tuna within were both devastated by these abnormal additions. I strongly urge against it. I love creative combinations, but sadly, this was not a blue ribbon winner. The miso broth was great, I will be sure to order it every time. 7÷26÷15 — The Salmon Tower is yummy! Spicy and sweet with creamy avacado.

Ive been in a few times, and though the younger staff they hire isn’t entirely competent, the food has always made up for it. Yesterday I went in for lunch, sat at the bar, and was served immediately. I ordered a bowl of Phở which came out quickly and was piping hot. The broth is made in house and was seasoned to perfection with garlic, lemon grass, green onions and just a hint of pepper flakes. The noodles were thin rice noodles and of course it was loaded with bean sprouts and fresh cilantro on top. Absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this establishment and this dish. Would be five stars if not for the poor service when you sit at a table.

Cute little place. The rolls were pretty good. The tempura was like fish in chips(thick batter) instead of light and crispy batter.

Considered going into Portland for sushi but wanted to stay local since we were staying at an Airbnb close to this joint. We were super happy we missed the downtown traffic and got some ROCKIN sushi! This place was so good! We had the tuna tataki – bomb. And the red dragon and celebration rolls, also bomb. Service was good, beer was good, saki was tiiiiiiiiiiiigt! Even got some panang chicken which was delish! They really throw it down on some combo Asian cuisine. Totes recommend!

First time and so far is very good. The spicy tuna is very very flavorful. Rolls are good size and prices to match. I know my sushi and the poor reviews must come from people who eat at sushi nasty train bars woof woof barf. Place is very small so I would get there early. My new sushi place for afternoon eats.

This place never fails me. Every time I go the sushi and experience is great. They have the best sushi in the Portland area in my opinion. And or a reasonable price. The only reason I have these guys a 4 star is because of the wait I experienced last time I went. But that is a very seldom thing you’ll have to experience. Go!
