They are no longer Egan and Sons. They are under new management The menu has changed, they no longer have the traditional Irish pub grub items. The food was good now not so much. They have increased the prices. No specials to compete with other bars got football night. It is not as popular as it used to be. We went here last Monday to watch the game and there were only 6 people in the place. I’m going to check it out again on a Tuesday as they used to have Trivia night and $ 5 burger and fries, let’s see how that is, will write back.

I ate at Evan and Sons and My BBQ pork wrap sandwich was one half and inch thick with the lettuce and tomato. There was maybe two pieces of pork if that much. The owner Evan said he can’t do anything about it. $ 11.00 for that is insane. I told him at a diner they are at 2 – 3 inches thick. I ate it and then thought that was very odd. I would never go back here again. The atmosphere was very nice. The bathroom was dirty. Go some place else. From what I heard this place went out of business and re-opened again

Fun atmosphere. OK food. Inattentive, uncaring, and slow service.

Expensive, but less crowded than the montclair location, which is a major plus. Only went for drinks. Menu is limited.

The thin crust pizza is on point. The bartender Ryan is personable and makes a tasty dirty martini. The only thing missing is there used to be a hot bouncer at night.

Sad to write this review but I’m very disappointed with the food at Egan & Sons in West Orange since they changed chefs about 2 months ago. They USEDTO serve great burgers and salads! Actually, everything on the menu WAS delicious. The new chef is incompetent and losing their business — LOSTMYBUSINESS and we used to go there weekly. The chef, or whoever buys for Egan & Sons in West Orange, obviously changed food purveyors and is buying inferior quality products — very noticeable. The burger meat is «cheap»(can’t get the horrible taste out of my mouth a day later) and the burgers and salads sizes are smaller. I also had to send the food back twice for not being cooked properly(I never do that!). Even the fries tasted ‘different’ in a bad way. I will NOT go back unless and/or until I hear they changed chefs and/or brought back their quality!

Egan and sons is incredibly wavy. Their wings are yoppin. Jack told me he’d meet me an hour ago. He still isn’t here. I’ve eaten seven plates of wings so far. Why is jack always late to everything smh this is getting hella annoying. Good thing these wings are mad fckin good.

Great place for dinner or drinks. A little on the small side for a bar, but they have a great outside area. The menu is good and the food is amazing. Service is excellent and there is a public parking lot across the street. We’ve been there a few times and will definitely be back.

Was here for the first time this week. I can’t understand the negative posts. This is a great little place. Had Ryan as our server and he couldn’t have been nicer. Food was good, beer was cold and atmosphere is very nice. Oh, and the tables aren’t RITE on top of each other! Looking forward to next time, great little patio area. It’s a winner, give it a shot.

This place has the best wings in Essex County. All around good bar food. Good drinks. Decent beer selection. Tuesday night is trivia night. There are some very competitive regulars involved. Bonus: it’s a Steelers bar.

Egan and Son’s is just a complete mess all around. Rude staff, dirty floors, and very below average food. I guess you can forgo the bad food and get over the spilled ketchup everywhere, but the horrible and rude service was just the icing on the cake. As soon as we walked in, we were told that we cannot sit apart from the bar area. We had kids with us and wanted to sit away from the bar as a couple of guys were cursing all the way through. Ryan the bartender or server was a complete jack. Never smiled and never talked. Completely gave us the rude treatment throughout the entire stay. The place was 90% empty so I don’t know why the rudeness. The pricing is also a little on the high side for the quality of the food and service. The first and last time I will ever, ever go here. Just a complete turn off for us and our friends. Save your cash if you earned it the hard way. Just a horrible experience.

The bouncer/custodian who looks to be a 50 y/o parrot told us they can close whenever they want(contrary to the 2am close) and didn’t let us stay until our cab came. It’s about 5 degrees outside right now. Thanks Parrot Pete. –Joel(1:49 am)

I’ve been to the Egan and Sons in Montclair and I really like that location. I figured I’d give this one a try seeing as it should be similar. There’s easy parking across the street, which is nice, and there’s plenty of seating inside, despite being a small venue. I came here with some friends for happy hour and their beer selection was fairly disappointing, but they at least had Guinness on tap, which is a must. I got a small personal pizza for a snack and it was actually pretty good; the flavors were spot on and the crust was nice and crispy. However, the pizza was a bit overpriced for what you got and that was definitely a disappointment. It’s not a bad spot overall, but it definitely lacks the beer selection from the Montclair location and I would choose that one over the West Orange location if given the choice.

This is definitely not the Montclair location but it’s a smaller version with better service and a more intimate setting. None of the obnoxious drinking kids that flood the Montclair one.

Great little pub and local hang out. It’s comfortable and welcoming. Typical pub grub offerings on the menu with the added highlight of brick oven pizzas. But the quality is above standard par. Wine list could be a little more diverse but I understand that the beer is really the star here. The staff has been consistently terrific on each of my visits but our server last night, Miguel, was outstanding. Pleasant, personable, knowledgeable and professional he made an enjoyable dining experience even more so. Well worth the trip!

Great local spot in West Orange for a burger and beer and more. I like having the choice of sitting up front in the booths near the bar and big-screen tvs when I want to watch a game or sitting in the quieter back room when it’s too busy at the bar. Love their Portabello mushroom burger sandwich when I don’t feel like eating a beef or turkey burger. It’s topped with yummy Irish cheese and served with your choice of sides such as sweet potato fries, mashed or a side salad. The cottage or Shepard’s pie is good too, as are all their Irish specialties. Their individual sized pizzas are named after football heroes like Joe Namath(sausage and mushroom) or Tom Brady. My daughter ordered the Brady pie which is goat cheese, arugula, mozzarella, cherries. It was tasty, with the sharp goat cheese and cherries, but the arugula, cherries and goat cheese were strangely piled as a salad on top of a plain cheese pie, instead of being toppings. Good selection of beers on tap and bottles here. It was quiet on a Monday night, but even so, our server was super attentive and asked many times how our dinner was or if we needed anything. And did I forget to mention the outdoor tiki bar. Good option in the summer, but a little smoky out there! Also, plenty of parking on street or at metered lot across the street, that is free after 6pm.

Egan and Son’s is a great little find. Ask for«Jackie». She’s an amazing server and she will become your friend. As long as she isn’t talking to another table and forgets about you! LOL! The food is great. The craft beers are great. The Garlic and Shrimp bar is AMAZING! I love the décor and the ambiance. West Orange needs more places like this. Clara D’s UYE — 5 stars — Not sure what happened to the event listing. So many great faces, really fun trivia and of course it was cheap! The Three Unilocalmigo’s for life. We didn’t win, but we were definitely close. Tuesdays = trivia, $ 5-$ 7 burgers, and cheap pitchers of domestic beer. Trivia was fun though super hard to hear the emcee if not directly near him, so pro-tip: sit at the bar or the booths by the bar. The $ 5 burger($ 7 with cheese) was buttery and delicious. I ate mine sans bun and with a hefty side salad in lieu of fries and it was quite a meal. Nothing mind blowing, but for $ 5, yes please. The draft Yuengling was kind of gnarly, definitely not the cleanest and freshest tasting draft beer. It’s never a good thing upon first sip to make the face that I made; ’twas a bit foul. The service was super nice, just a tad bit discombobulated and absent minded. I definitely needed to remind this guy a few times about pitchers of beers, small plates to share nachos, etc. Nothing crazy and not the worst service, just not on point. Oh, the nachos! They were good, a pretty big portion too, filled with cheese, sour cream, and tasteless guac. What can you do. Looks like they have a great outside bar and this place definitely screams«a locals joint» and for $ 5 burger trivia Tuesday, you can’t go wrong. Egan & Sons West Orange is definitely A-ok in my book for a casual fun Tuesday evening.

It’s a fine Irish pub. Not nearly as large or as nice as it’s sibling location in Montclair. A decent selection of beers, and all of the food is a solid version of what’s more or less your standard bar food. However, they do offer a variety of interesting dinners, though admittedly I have yet to have dinner there. The back outdoor patio is nice in the warmer weather.

I’ll preface this by saying I used to work at the Montclair location and worked in the West Orange location on a few occasions. Although this location has the same Irish pub feel to it as the location in Montclair, the West Orange location has much more of a sports bar feel to it. Lots of TVs and they have the NFL Sunday ticket and really cheap specials to go along with it. A bucket of Coors Light was going for $ 5 last I was there and the wings and beef brisket were awesome. The rest of the menu is very similar to the Monctlair location and they do specials as well. The prices are not a whole lot cheaper here. The wine prices are, but that’s because the selection is not as good. Instead of paying $ 8 or $ 9/glass, you might pay $ 5 Last I was there, they had at least one TV for every NFL game, but the Steelers fans got dibs in the outdoor area in the back. I have no idea how this came to be, but as a Ravens fan, this only makes me happy twice a year(when the Ravens play the Steelers). When Steeler-nation is not out there, the tiki bar is cool to hang out at in the summer and they have plenty of tables for outdoor seating.
