We drove by on our way to Old Sac after a day trip to Ikea. Looked interesting. Upon closer inspection the park at the entrance was full of homeless folks. As we walked up to the road to check the area out further a guy came up to the levee off a surface street and said boldly, «Let’s see what can I take from you»? Little did I know my hubs was giving him the«hairy eye» and then he mumbled, «I guess nothing»! I echoed his mumble more boldly, «That’s right, nothing»! As we walked back to the car(it was just getting dark) the same dude was yelling obscenities at all the homeless folks in the park… I’m in no way an expert but I think the guy was tweaking… not a pleasant experience. I would not recommend launching a boat from here as your vehicle may not be found as you left it. Definitely, do not take a walk around the area, or bring your family to this neck of the woods… this is not a safe area, period!

My friends and I go fishing on our boats from this FREE Boat Ramp. The park’s entrance is completely free. I’ve been coming here since 2010 and the place has always been clean, even though there are a lot of homeless in the park, they mind their own business and sometimes help people get their boats in and out of water. I’ve never witness anyone behave violently here. It might seem like a dodgy place but its free and problem free(for the most part).

A nice place to sit with a book and a coffee or walk your dog. Usually filled with undesirables like me but the obvious drug deals and shadiness are always handled with the utmost tact and discretion. I have never been bothered by anybody. Nor have I seen anyone acting super crazy or violent. Like all the marginal West Sac characters these people are pretty benign. The bathrooms are gross but fortunately I’m a dude and so was born with that weird gene that lets us stand in the urine of a thousand men and not really care that much.
