Salon Silk

I was in desperate need of a hair cut. I have long, tightly curled natural hair. I rarely have great experiences at salons and therefore only get my hairs cut when I reach a level of desperation. I noticed Salon Silk when they opened and kept in mind is like to give them a try. Today was the day!
I was able to get a same day appointment with Alexis and arrived a little early. From the outside the salon is a seemingly small little brick house converted into a business. The parking lot seemed packed and I wondered how everyone was fitting in such a tiny little place.
When walking in it was a bit confusing where to go but quickly realized the reception area is on the right as soon as you walk in. It is really beautiful inside. Everything is clean and bright. It’s decorated very well but not cluttered at all. Alexis came to greet me after I checked in. I was taken to one room to get my hair washed and another for the cut. There seem to be 3 rooms for hair care and a few more for manis, pedis and waxing.
Alexis had such a great energy about her. The whole salon was bustling with people and it put me in a good mood immediately. Alexis knew how to handle my hair and really listened to what I wanted and gave suggestions that were in line with my requests. The hair cut was quick with a little bit of small talk. I usually leave with my hair wet but Alexis seemed intent on giving me a blow out. It had been years since I’ve worn my hair straight so I looked forward to letting her style my hair. It was a quick blow out that looked great. She offered to do some big, loose waves in my hair and I agreed. I have never worn my hair this way and wasn’t sure what it would be like. It turns out I absolutely love it. It’s the first time in a long time that I wish my hair was straight so I could recreate the style more easily. While Alexis made it seem quick and simple, it’s much more time than I am prepared to spend on my hair each morning. I will, however, go back and get the same style if I have a special event.
I’ll update my review once I go again for another service but so far I really like this salon!

I just had my hair cut and styled here on Saturday by Heather. It was a great experience! I have long hair and am always nervous to take too much off. She did an amazing job shaping and styling it without compromising my length. I had a black tie affair that night and everyone was complimenting it! I HIGHLY recommend heading over there.
The owner Jeanne was also really nice and attentive to everyone’s needs in the salon!
