My favorite spot in downtown westerly. My boyfriend and I are frequent visitors. The service is always wonderful, the bartenders always make you feel welcome and are extremely attentive. The margaritas are great; many different flavor choices and great prices. The food is phenomenal, love the fajitas and the burrito. They also have a great deal on Tuesday, $ 2 for any taco! Definitely worth the visit!

I’ve only been here once. Came in on a trip from New York and there seem to be nobody else there I’m not sure if they had just opened or if we were there on just a slow day. Our server was great he was very helpful in making sure that we order the appropriate stuff for our daughter. The food was good it could’ve used a touch more flavor but definitely got the job done for craving Mexican food. I would definitely go back here and I would definitely order margaritas because they were pretty good too.

4 star prices for 2 star food. Service was good, food was decent, portions were crap. Ordered the sesame crusted tuna over corn and mushroom«risotto», i use quotes because it was really just overly buttered white rice. Left more to be desired. I honestly dont need to eat much to be full but that was maybe 3 oz of tuna half a cup of rice. service was the only redeeming quality.

I thought that a tequila bar would serve a proper margarita but what I got when I ordered the first one on the list(patron silver, patron citronge and fresh lime) and I asked to leave out the citronge, it came out with a lot of cheap sour mix instead. When I clarified with the server what I did want, it came back tasting like cheap tequila, not-fresh lime juice and a bunch of melted ice. I think the migraine I got later was from this– perhaps just from the annoyance! We also got a salmon and plantain rice entrée that was tasty. The ambiance was cozy and thoughtful. Our server was friendly.

This is not your run of the mill Mexican place. Their menu is really interesting and includes some creative combinations. I had the lobster chile relleno, which was very good. My brother had the scallop and shrimp far diavlo, which was excellent! I kind of want them to jar the sauce from the far diablo. Also, they have a great selection of cocktails.

Absolutely horrified by the service. We got a bar bill that was not ours. We spoke to the manager Marco who was extremely rude and unwilling to listen to our concerns. He continued to tell us that he remembered us ordering all of the items on our tab. When we told him what we actually ordered and explained that we were happy to pay for those items, he refused to change the bill and told us he would run our credit card whether we wanted to pay for it or not. The food and drinks are great there, but I’m sad to say that Marco ruined the restaurant for us and we will never go back.

Ate there tonight… fine service, good margaritas and good food. The mole was just off… do not put cumin in mole… just wrong. Otherwise… very good.

Place was awesome! Server was Super friendly and as a vegetarian it was very helpful that they had tofu and tempeh on hand for replacements… yea rocket science right? I was even able to order off menu for a Oaxaca dish that i haven’t had in years. If you like heat, get the El Fuego Margarita. My partner got the chocolate mole with tofu and it was fantastic. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices for a nice dinner. Also bought a mustache whistle there as well! Gotta love chachkies.

Went for lunch & it was not great, but it was much better than I expected it to be. The guacamole was really good & we enjoyed the rustic chips. I also had the quesadilla of the day which was huge & tasty(though why serve me salsa & sour cream in plastic cups? Do they not have ramekins for something that would seem to be a regularly served side? It was bizarre). I was less than impressed with my margarita– it was huge, which was good, but was immediately melty all over the place. Messy drinks are not fun to drink. My friend seemed to enjoy her sangria though. Overall, it’s simply middle-of-the-road. It’s a restaurant that I’ll go back to if someone else wants to go there, but I’m unlikely to suggest it.

Great food and cocktails! I absolutely love this place. One thing that sets them apart are the vegetarian options of tofu and tempeh. Too often vegetarian substitutes are overlooked. The cheese they use for the quesadillas is amazing and they are so flexible with modifications! Great margaritas too! Definitely a can’t miss if you’re in the westerly area!

I’m from San Diego so I may be a snob when it comes to Mexican food. With that said, the food here hardly constitutes Mexican food. It tasted reheated & did not appear fresh. I’m giving two stars rather than one because the staff was friendly & the restaurant is clean. Also, the bar area is ideal to grab a couple beers & have chips & salsa. Keep this place in mind for the bar, but consider somewhere else to dine.

Dined here not too long ago with my wife. The place is a little odd — there’s a gigantic empty room that was to the right of where our table was, and it was clearly a function room for maybe 100 people. But some of the tables in the restaurant are right in the door ways to this empty dark space. Makes for a weird ambiance. Some things were good, like our waiter. He was enthusiastic and very pleasant, making sure that we were in good shape with drinks and such. Some of the food was good, some of it was just ok. The only thing that really put us off about the restaurant was the LOUD classic rock blaring from the bar area at the front of the place. The hostess explained to me that the jukebox in the bar is wired throughout the restaurant, so while you might be trying to enjoy a somewhat authentic Mexican meal and conversation, you’ll have to do so over the sounds of «Slow Ride» and«Cat Scratch Fever». I don’t mind that kind of music, but it is extremely out of place for a setting like this. I’d go back but if the music situation is the same, I don’t think I’d stay to eat. Maybe a drink and go somewhere else.

I’ve been on a spicy margarita kick lately which has led me to order the«El Fuego» with horchata on the rim the last two times I’ve stopped in for dinner. I highly recommend it! On my first dinner visit I ordered the chicken mole poblano and it exceeded my expectations. The plate consisted of 2 large pieces of chicken breast covered in a very tasty mole sauce, with a side of rice and beans.(I actually texted my friend who grew up in Mexico to let her know that I had just had a delicious mole dish and the next time she comes to RI I would have to introduce her to Amigos to get her opinion.) Last night we opted to start with chips and salsa which led me to order 2 carne asada tacos along with a side of rice and beans(this time it was a la carte). The tacos were delicious corn tortillas filled with tasty steak and guacamole. Overall I am a fan and will be back to try more menu offerings. Also, there is a private parking lot(which I tend to forget about) for those nights where street parking is scarce.

I love this place. The people are cool, the food is really good and the drinks are amazing. The service is also really good and they are accommodating for large parties and for people who bring kids. I’m dying to try the brunch. One bizarre thing — my family and I moved to westerly recently from NYC and the prices here are on par with what you would get for the same food/atmosphere and service around NYC. I was surprised by that.

We came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a raspberry margarita, which was very good. For an appetizer we ordered chips and salsa. It was good, but we wished it had more spicy heat to it. The shredded chixkem burrito I ordered was very tasty and filling. The guacamole was not runny at all as another Unilocaler had stated. I think they may have meant the green tomato based salsa that surrounded the meal. Our service was excellent. Great place for a shot of tequila too!

Not bad! You have to know what you want. This was the 3rd Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in NE. Being from SoCal i’ve been craving Carne Asada, real Carne Asada! I must say the Carne norteno was good and so was the Carne Asada burrito. It’s not Cali-Mex! but it was still good. A nice place, and customer service was excellent, that’s why I gave it four stars.

We are new to the Westerly scene and have tried other places in town. Amigos is the third spot and what a great one. Food was great — I’m not a HUGE Mexican food junkie but everything here was super fresh. The guacamole was awesome and the chips were fine. A bit thick for me but fine. I had the fish tacos which were awesome. My wife had a salad and the mini chimichangas. We watched the USA soccer team tie and the crowd was on average young. Great stuff! We will be back.

Apps — you have to pay for mediocre chips and salsa. If I have to pay for them then they should be above average(or at least average). Drinks– my margarita was very good. My husband’s sangria was mediocre. I thought it was ok, my husband didn’t like it so we switched drinks. Again, $ 10 for a mediocre sangria… Entrees — my Campechano burrito was very good, quite large but didn’t include any sides. My entrée was the cheapest in the group and was much larger than everyone else’s. I like their fresh and unusual approach to Mexican food but I think that it is very pricy for what you get. Plus, I didn’t think that any of the entrees were particularly spicy. No burn on any of our dishes which is kind of disappointing. My overall impression — I won’t be back. I thought that the food was good but not remarkable and incredibly overpriced.

Nice enough staff, but absolutely terrible service. Wait, wait and wait some more. Menu is impressive and to read it is to be excited about innovative«South of the Border» food, but what comes, after a very long wait, is cold,(like, pulled out of a cooler cold chips and guacamole) small-portions of not very inspired stuff. I know the margaritas are delicious, and I saw some friends that night who said their meal was«great», so I MAY try this again, but for the price and the way we were forced to sit there for so long to be served a second-class meal was unacceptable. I work to hard for my money. I could’ve excused being ignored if it were really busy and my food came out and was spot on, or I could’ve ignored the mediocre food if the service was attentive but instead I got a double dose of bad. Sorry Amigos.

This was our first experience(Jan 29, ’14) at Amigos. We have been craving for good Mexican food for awhile. We decided to get take-away. We ordered chips & salsa, along with a side of beans and rice to share. My wife ordered a Chicken burrito and I had the Campechano burrito. The chips were ok and the salsa was average. Mostly puréed tomatoes. The manager(at the bar) indicated the burritos($ 14) were very large(they were) and they came with beans and rice inside. Normally I do not order burritos with rice inside as it gives the restuarant a «license to fill». The manager also indicated the burritos came with green salsa on top. What a joke, fill they did. My burrito contained 5 small pieces of meat. The balance was some vegetables, beans and guess what RICE, RICE and more RICE. Also I am still looking for the green salsa. My wife indicated the chicken burrito had a little more meat, but was mostly, guess what, you got it, RICE and no green salsa. As to the side of beans and rice($ 4), underwhelming. Two soup spoon size portions of each. Overall, $ 40 later, more rice than one can stand and you have two happy customers. That all said, we cannot wait for a good Mexican Restuarant to open in Westerly. Magoo
