We celebrated 2 birthday meals here. My wife’s friend and mine. We showed up around 7 and for a table of 4 it was an hour wait. So we went to perks and corks for some drinks and to sit around to wait, we spent about 50 minutes there. They have an outside area but since is was mid-November the weather was cold. At Longo’s there is no waiting area but we had to end up waiting an extra 20 minutes because there was still no table available. However, as we were waiting I started to notice that the host seemed very interested in certain people that came in and that left. Maybe they were regulars or had money because the host knew they were staying at the Ocean House. Our meal consisted of calamari, Veal parmesan, Spaghetti and meatball, veal saltimbocca w/risotto. We all had drinks, wine, beer, and I had the Limoncello martini. Overall the meal and atmosphere was fine. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledge on the specials and could explain the menu in detail. One big thing about my risotto was that it was bland. It tasted like it was never season throughout the cooking process. I would go to this restaurant again but will be mindful of what I order.

This is by far, our favorite Italian restaurant, and almost favorite any restaurant, in the area. The urban/mob atmosphere adds a fun vibe. The pastas are delicious — large portions and fairly reasonable. Our service was perfect — not too push, not to distant. It’s a nice break from the touristy or pub type food. Thank you Longos!

Dined here with my wife on a Thursday. The interior and ambience seems like its going for an italian mobster/frank sinatra tribute cave. The menu is basic Italian American with nothing really creative standing out. We shared a caesar salad to share to start with which was pretty good, I had spaghetti carbonara and my wife had some fried mozzarella. Its basic but done pretty well with generous portions. Had Tiramisu to finish which was excellent. My biggest issue was the service. Its obvious this is a family business with people doing a job they have no business doing. The lady who served us was a little abrasive and provided no pleasantries or niceties. Seemed disappointed we only ordered one glass of wine. Our caesar salad plate was left on the table for 10 minutes after we finished eating while she was drinking wine behind the bar. I tried to pay with an Amex and she just said ’ got anything else?” with no apology or explanation given. I don’t think she intentionally tried to be rude or abrasive, she just has the wrong personality for the job. We saw what I presume to be the owner walking round the restaurant wearing sweatpants and drinking which I thought was a little odd. I know its not fine dining, but come on. We paid and got up to leave. Nobody said goodbye. I gave 3 stars because the food is not terrible and I think they are doing their best but it just wasn’t our style. Seems successful as it was pretty busy. Give it a try and see what you think.

Owner and his mom are great! Very comfortable, yet crowded all the time. Food is very very good. Prices reasonable. Location is interesting, but once inside, the tv’s playing Scarface and the memorabilia make you feel the Vibe of the place. Good for a night out with friends, especially more than two couples if there’s room to get seated!

Adequate but disappointing as we had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. We were able to score an outside table early on a Friday evening and were pleased. Tables well spaced, not crowded. Friendly and capable waiter. Menu not overly extensive but four different ways to have chicken or veal were fine with us. Pre dinner drinks were good. Bread with oil and Parm cheese were good but we had to ask for it. I noticed everyone near us had to ask for it too so, obviously, that’s the deal. I ordered Chicken Marsalla and Spouse ordered Chicken Picatta. Fair price, $ 18. We asked what it came with and were told we would have to pay extra for pasta. Never heard of that. We just split one order. When our Zuchinni Flowers APP arrived it had no Marinara and I asked for some. Was told it cost $ 1.50 more. At this I accused the waiter of nickel and dimming me. He took offense saying it wasn’t his fault. I stated I was aware it was not his decision to make. Both meals arrived and both were disappointing. My Marsalla was very thin and the Picatta had virtually no lemon taste. Chicken was thick, dry and had not been pounded prior to cooking. We took half home with us and started to eat it for dinner today, Monday but neither were worth the calories as they hadn’t traveled well so out they went. Wine list was adequate but not exciting. There were several wines in each category and most could have found something they wanted. Ambiance: I already stated we were happy to be outside. The AMTRAK trains actually added character but the noisy motorcycles were an annoying distraction and the teens with radios blasting riding up and down the street a-la–«American Grafitti» really hit the spot. I know these things were not the management’s fault but they didn’t add anything to an already blah experience. Inside seemed like two different worlds. One room only had a few tables in it and the main dining room was packed elbow to elbow and quite noisy so, we actually were better off outside. So, in retrospect, the experience may only be deemed adequate and I would look elsewhere next time I’m in Westerly.

As an Italian, I am very picky about my Italian food. Somehow, I just can’t get past my grandmother’s macaroni and meatballs. I eat at a restaurant and the food would be just ok. AND then came Longo’s… All of you picky Italian eaters… drop your forks and napkins and go to Trattoria Longo’s. The food is made by the Italian South Philly grand mom. No processed food here ladies and gentlemen. It is the real deal. You will love it!

We tried this restaurant for the first time for a family dinner, we will not be returning. The service was good but the food was terrible. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer the portioning was stingy, not enough for 5 people. The complimentary bread is stale and cold. The menu is al a carte which is the first time I’ve been served chicken parm without pasta being included. The spaghetti and meatballs dish is on the smaller side, gnocchi sorrentina has a block of mozzarella mixed in and the sausage and rabe over rigatoni was overly buttery with poor quality of sausage. Next time we will try somewhere else.

From the moment you walk in and are greeted you realize Jerry wants you to have an experience. The food is well prepared, fresh and classic. We enjoyed the unique pomodoro calamari with balsamic glaze, parmigiana multiple ways and the cutlet and broccoli rabe are awesome. Come here, enjoy a glass of wine or a martini(or both) and have a great Italian dining experience… not just a meal.

Outstanding dining experience top to bottom. We started off with the meatball salad, Momma’s home made roman rice balls, home made stuffed pepper, the calamari and the eggplant on the hill; each one delicious. We then enjoyed veal Marsala, sole and home made gnocchi as entrees; again all delicious. Our great food was made even more enjoyable by our server Carmella, who was not only outstanding herself, but was sure to bring by Momma and brother Jerry to say hello. By the end of the night, our family was certainly feeling like part of their family and we look forward to many future visits.

I have eaten here four times now. The first time it was NOT good. My wife’s food tasted like CHEFBOY R DEE. Went back a second time to give another chance. Same result, VERY average food at best. The third time(we eat out three nights per week) was the worst. Had a dish called fra Diablo which was a very pricey special, however I NEVER mind paying for good food. The server described it and stated it was topped with a lobster tail… How could one go wrong!!! Ends up the seafood was over cooked and to make matters worse, it wasn’t a MAINE lobster tail, it was a Caribbean tail, which is really like a giant crayfish. In the end dish overpriced by $ 10 and had the taste of a plate that one would get at red lobster. I finally went a fourth time, with a friend who says I’m crazy as this is the best restaurant in westerly… Well, I made him order, and the goods was ok. The owner was however very jovial and pleasant and stopped by five times to chat with my friend… and THAT’S when I realized the food was irrelevant, as my friend felt like a king there, so the food was secondary. Personally, I’ll never be back, as too many MUCH better choices on the SAME block… not impressed.

We are regular patrons of Longo’s, back from the days when they were in Providence. Last week, I took a team from work for a dinner, and it was as I promised the group, exceptional! The meatballs are of course incredible, 10 out of 10. I tell everyone I know about them, and they all think I am building them up too much… that is until they taste them. The rest of the food is excellent. The supli was a nice app to go with the meatballs. I had the Veal Parm, thin and great sauce. The pasta sides were huge and delicious. Finally, it is a family running it the right way. Jerry the owner is a great guy, nice enough to always say hello, ask about the family. If they were closer to my home, I’d be there every week. If you are in be area, it’s a can’t miss stop.

Let’s start off by saying the food is Exellent. Everything was cooked very well. The restuarant is small but very nice. On the other had, one big thing my wife and I both noticed is that it was freezing inside and most of the staff was wearing sweaters shirts. It seemed like half the people inside had left their jackets on to eat. Please turn up the heat. Thanks

5 stars for quality of the meal and fantastic service. I’ve been several times and I’ve never had a bad meal. The servers are relaxed and very friendly. It feels like a real family place; if you’re looking for a sterile, formal dining experience go to Ella’s… Some say the menu is too small, but there isn’t a bad dish on it, and their specials are fantastic. The only thing I would ping it on would be the tvs in the dining room, but as I can’t rate 4.5 stars, I’m rounding up!

I give the place 4 stars for food I would give it 3 for service and that’s only because when we walked in we waited for a hostess the owner finally realized we wanted a table and came over to seat us. Our waitress could have put a smile on her face but it was late so I guess she was ready to leave. As far as the food goes the meatballs are great, risotto was fantastic the bread they serve was cold but ok. Eggplant mozzarella app was tasty. Overall the environment was nice they had music they also have a private dining area. The owner came over said hello talk for a few which I think is very important as a business owner. I’ll be back for sure.

Our favorite spot! Growing up in an Italian family, I’m very picky when eating Italian out. Longo’s is always point on with simple, fresh, homemade dishes — so, so good! Excellent service — definitely feel a part of their family while you’re there. The one time we did have to wait a long time for our app, the owner treated us to a complimentary drink and dessert which was very much appreciated. If you haven’t already, check them out — you won’t be disappointed!

Visited this great restaurant sometime in June as I was visiting a friend in Boston. First off, the place was clean as a whistle, the staff was down to earth and the décor lets you know your in for a treat! I started out with a dirty martini and a meatball salad! Hey, that’s the name of the place! I’m very fussy about my food and my martins… both 5 stars! I then a veal chop which was cooked to perfection, medium rare, accompanied by risotto… ah…Gordon Ramsey would be proud! Over all… visit this place, you won’t be let down! Oh, by the way… Billy Joel was having dinner at the bar!

Meat balls and Martinis!!! Well it caught my eye and I had to try it. The first impression I had was that this was a family run place. I don’t know if its true or not but that was the impression and the second impression was that the family was welcoming you. A very nice atmosphere. Dinner was so so. I had a veal cutlet that was nothing to complain about but it also wasn’t anything to write home about. Service was great and friendly. I will be back to see what I missed on the menu… its such a welcoming place.

Absolutely unbelievable food. I lived in Rome for over a month and have yet to find food that brings me back there… until now. I pretty much stick to the same meal: Pollo Milanese with broccoli rabe. The chicken portion is massive and the broccoli rabe is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also always stick to a side of penne. The pasta sauce is phenomenal. If only I could jar it. Although I have my favorite meal I have also tried their meatballs which are incredible. This past weekend I went with my mother and we split two appetizers: the meatball salad and suppli. I sincerely hope they make suppli a part of the menu because they were excellent. The cocktails are great too. I highly suggest one of their Martinis. I had two Ruby Red Martinis and they were to die for. Besides the food, I just love the atmosphere. Yes, it is a little loud, but its a family run restaurant with family members acting as servers, hostesses, runners, and cooks… have you ever eaten with an Italian family? If it isn’t loud there is a problem. You feel like part of the family and its always lively. No complaints with that.
