The only thing affordable and great is the fresh Italian bread. Everything else is pricey.

Vine Ripe Markets is what would happen if an Italian grandmother took over a Whole Foods. There’s plenty of produce and staples, but the place shines with its prepared foods and breads. Buy anything there in ring form. Prosciutto ring, eggplant ring. Anything. Just be happy that your Italian grandma is doing so well.

I have only been in twice for limited purchases but had to restrain myself from buying dozens of deliicious looking store made foods. Meals, wraps, appetizers, pastas and meats of many kinds. What I have purchased has been quality and very tasty.

My wife and I went here for the first time today. We were initially impressed. Many of their prices are in line with the bigger food stores. Their prepared foods are extensive and reasonably priced, a package of 12 precooked meatballs was $ 4. When we returned home we noticed the crate of clementines we bought was moldy! Returned to the store only to find out all of the crates were moldy. Exchanged the moldy crate for a bag of clementines that were the same price, but had less — oh well. I left feeling that I’d never return. New store. Moldy oranges. Not good in my book. However, our dinner of meatballs and store made vodka sauce was excellent and very delicious. I may not return to buy produce(which is funny to me given their name), but I will definitely return for the prepared foods and meats. Didn’t try their fresh breads, but they looked great too.

Rating des Ortes: 5 Westfield, NJ
This is what Westfield needed since we moved here from Pittsburgh 40 years ago. Its a true metropolitan area grocery with more varieties of bread, fresh fish, baked goods, and fresh produce than you see at the local stores, and at prices that don’t break your budget. Plus the people who wait on you couldn’t be nicer. I met Angelo who prepped my fresh whole stripped bass. Calver who selected great stuffed artichokes and fried eggplant slices, and Lydia the checkout cashier. I’ll be back to shop for our New Years dinner party and several times in between. Thanks to the owners for coming to Westfield from NYC. You nailed it.
