This restaurant has closed permanently. I was a frequent diner and am saddened to see it go after many many years going back to the JL Hudson days.

Sounds so silly to go to a mall restaurant but we’ve been coming here for decades(back when it was Hudson’s). The Maurice salad is a Michigan original – can’t go wrong with that. Of course it’s busy during Christmas time but other times it is reasonable. PLEASEDONTCLOSETHISLOCATION

I have been coming here for years! Can’t go wrong with the Maurice salad and Canadian cheese soup.

I really love Maurice salads. I am a cancer patient and just got my appetite back in the last couple of months. I have been craving one and was in Canton today and called to order a carryout. Spoke with Rosie and explained my situation. How hard it is to get to restaurant with walker because it’s so far and upstairs. Told her the Southland Macy’s is great and have brought the salad to my car a few times. She insisted that it must only be picked up at the bar and they were going to get busy with lunch. I said I would never interrupt the lunch rush and could come at 3 or 330. No way according to her. I have been picking up carryout for a month or so now everything from mom and pop restaurants to chains. No one ever said no. Rosie needs a compassion class. I tried to call restaurant manager and they never bothered to call me back. Please keep this in mind if you run into Rosie the compassionate.

I ordered the Caesar Salad with shredded chicken. My waitress brought me the salad with a COLD, SLIMMY, right out of the refrigerator chicken breast. I asked her to return it to the kitchen because this is NOT the way it has been served in the past. She brought the salad back to me with the chicken cut into three pieces and it was still iced cold. Is there a problem with the wait staff or are they just afraid to take food back to the cooks for fear of what they may do to «CORRECT» the problem?

Let me first start by saying that this place only got the 3 stars because the service was SOOO bad. The food was WONDERFUL! They need a major remodel in this place, like the rest of Westland Macy’s. I felt like I had walked into 1989. The bartender who was there couldn’t hear a dang word we said & I felt like an inconvenience to even be sitting at the bar. There were only us &2 other people in the whole place. She didn’t ask us if we wanted any refills, she didn’t seem concerned whatsoever that we were even there. At shift change, the bartender left & a new one came in who was much better. The manager was walking around there & the whole time we were there she NEVER asked how anything was or acknowledged us is any way! What poor management skills! She didn’t even look at us. I don’t care how good the food was, due to the major oversight of the customer service skills I will not be back. Oh, I had the Meatloaf w/a red pepper bbq sauce, it came with really yummy garlic green beans & heavenly mashed potatoes. My Fiancé had a burger & some awesome, super crunchy fries & we shared a chicken lettuce wrap w/peanut sauce for an appetizer. We also ordered the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, that was very rich & the vanilla sauce was to die for. Hope this helps!

I don’t get to the Westland Mall often. Memories of the old Maurice salad called to me. Sadly, the old Hudson’s version is not the same. Barely any of those sweet pickles. The dressing had no bite. The roll the provided was a rock! I could barely break it and was concerned that I might break a tooth if I tried to eat it. The décor here is dreary to say the least, rather like the mall itself. As much as I loved the old Maurice salad, I will look for other places for lunch. Sadly it will have to be outside the mall as there really are no great choices here. I guess I should say there was one positive note. The waitress was exceptional.

8 of us have been going to Macy’s once a month for birthdays for the last 5 years. Over this time the«Famous Chicken Pot Pie has changed a couple of time, and tastes nothing like it use to. To many frozen ingredients The Meatloaf has changed from fresh to cut-up and frozen. The same with the«Alaska Cod. All frozen compressed meat, instead of flakey. The quality of the food has decreased, but the prices have increased. We were all there last week, they were busy. After waiting a ½ hour for our bill, I asked the manager if she could help us out. Her answer was, its the waiters job. Instead of helping out her people at a busy time, she walked around like a big deal shouting orders. We are now looking for another meeting place for our monthly birthday celebrations.

I remember going here at least once a month with my grandparents. I felt a little nostalgic so I told the hubby I’d like to grab dinner there one night. I ordered what I used to order when I was young so that was the chicken pot pie and cheddar cheese soup. I seem to remember it being a lot better when I was younger but hey all of our taste buds change over the years. Was nothing spectacular but also was not horrible. The waiter was hilarious and very attentive. And the bread they bring to your table was actually pretty darn yummy. My son had the bacon burger and my husband had the same but both said they were cooked perfectly. My son said it is one of the better burgers he’s had in a while. We would probably go back. Prices are a little bit high so I suggest checking the internet for certificates.

The ladies in my family have been going to Hudson’s/Marshall Fields/Macy’s restaurant for years for the Maurice and Mandarin salads. The Maurice is so tasty I don’t even need the dressing, but that’s also yummy. They have a Soup/Salad/Cream Puff combo that’s to die for — the hot fudge is from Sanders. So good, as are the warm dinner rolls. The only drawback is that the restaurant itself is very outdated/stuffy. I don’t imagine it appeals to younger people or men, which is too bad. Most of the staff are friendly, although some tend to disappear for long stretches. Still a must go, though.

My dtr and I had lunch at Lakeshore Grill today and the experience was delightful. Latice was the hostess and was superb. Quentin was our server and was charming and extremely helpful. Our food was also excellent. I had the Maurice Salad and my dtr has the Parmesan Crusted Chicken. The service was at leisurely pace; perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

My nana has been coming here probably since it opened. The food is always good. Mac n cheese, chicken, burger, pot pie, whatever you get, it tastes great. The wait staff are really nice and helpful to everyone(not just the regulars). It’s not that expensive for being associated with the store, and I am always glad to go shopping with my nana because lunch or dinner here is always a good time.

I remember the good old days. Lunch with my mom at Hudson’s, splitting a maurice salad and a chicken pot pie. Happy times. My mother is a bit shopping obsessed at this time of the year. I think she is singlehandedly trying to improve the local economy. My father is not so much a fan of the activity and he is a bit more bargain minded which is probably where I get it from as I am not really a fan of shopping either. I think my mom used lunch as a bribe to get me to go. I met my parents at Macy’s, which had originally been Hudson’s and was Marshall Fields for a minute there. It is nice for nostalgia that they still carry some items they always had there. They also have some nice-ish other items. My mom and I of course get the pot pie and maurice, the pot pie comes with a side salad but they let us get some canadian cheese soup instead. I like the cheese and veggies in it. My dad decides on some almond crusted perch after determining that indeed it is lake perch and not ocean. The food is much as I remember, good tasting, portions are reasonable to huge. I prefer the maurice to the chicken pie as usual. My dad had ten freaking perch with spiced fries and coleslaw. I also get a ton because my mom leaves us early to return to her shopping while I sit there a long while chatting my dad. I end up eating way more than I should. Service was nice, the place was not crowded at all and prices were decent. Not bad for the mall.
