I love there dried combination noodle. That’s actually the only I eat when I come here. My kids got the rice and they didn’t like it. As for the noodle, it has very good texture.

THISUNITNOODLEPLACENOLONGEREXISTSSINCETHANKSGIVING2010 The Bun Bo Hue Ngu Binh took over the space from that date on. If you really like them, it’s a family run business. You can go to the one on Bolsa Ave & Magnolia(in the same parking lot with ABC’ market) run by the sister-in-law; or their sister’s place on Golden West & Westminster(same parking lot with the Popeye’s chicken) or the brother’s place on Brookhurst & Westminster(same parking lot with the Pizza Hut).

Mi Kho Dac Viet — the best ever — the combination of roasted chicken and shrimp w/a side of broth. Amazing! Just so cheap and satisfying.

Excellent egg noodles. I always get the special #1, extra noodles available for $ 1. I wouldn’t order any of the rice dishes, they’re okay, but not great. Not sure why anyone would go to a noodle house and get anything other than noodles.

FYI– this Mi La Cay location is gone. I think the bun bo hue place(Ngu Binh) bought it out. Sadness, it was my favorite location of the four.

my brother and i walked into an empty restaurant a few days ago around 7pm… we stood at the entrance for a few awkward minutes, sat ourselves for another 5 awkward minutes… seriously, i was thinking, this is hella awkward, should we go to the kitchen and tell them«yo! you got customers!» or… what? it didn’t help that there was a vietnamese couple sitting there just gawking at us too. this is the only time i wished my mom were there too, she has the loud, vietnamese mother thing going, you know, where she will shamelessly yell out, «can we get some service up in here(in vietnamese, of course)?» well, we were eventually noticed by the staff, and everything was all gravy since then, my brother and i ordered the #1, their special, and like everyone said, it came with yummy breaded shrimp, slices of pork, and chicken. i was hoping it’d be deep fried chicken like some others wrote, but maybe that only comes with the noodles when you order it dry. because we asked for wet noodles(the one with soup), and the chicken was .well, it was just chicken, not deep fried :( overall though, it was really yummy! i like the breaded shrimp, don’t think i’ve ever had that in any viet dishes… and the broth is sooo good, not too salty, not too sweet.perfect. the best part? no signs of MSG(I THINK) because i felt fine afterwards! lol the servers were polite so i guess that made up for being unnoticed in the beginning. i’d come back for a great bowl of egg noodles!

Phở is great for hangovers… and so is Mi(Egg Noodle). Dont underestimate the look of this joint. Totally family-like restaurant and definitely food in the home makin. Order Mi La Cay Dac Biet(their egg noodle special w/breaded shrimp, some bbq thin sliced pork & deep fried chicken). Yes, I swear to you the chicken is deep fried. Aint no roasted chicken’s skin that crispy. Add some pepper for some spice in your life & a tad vinegar for a perfect soup. P. S. you can order any of your egg-noodle dry(soup on the side) or with soup PRICE is CHEAP. No more than $ 6/bowl. I love BOMB food with BOMB price.

Egg noodle soup, yum! Even on a hot day, yes sir. Not too hard, and not too soft, just right. The broth is perfect. Roasted chicken leg, breaded shrimp, and plentiful strips of green onions… My friend and I got two bowls soup and drinks for about $ 16. Not too shabby. Restaurant is very clean and it was pretty crowded for lunchtime. Plaza has a bakery, balut, supermarket, cell phone store, dessert place, and BoA. plus much more. It was funny because when we went into Van’s Bakery, they have FroYo machines located in the back. talk about maximizing their money…

I had my first mi experience here. I admit that I had to put off my review for this restaurant for awhile until I could find the right way to describe my experience, and for a very good reason– –Mi La Cay is my best friend’s childhood favorite. And he happens to read my reviews.(Hi fuzzy!) Eating the dry noodles in that very al dente texture threw me off because I wasn’t expecting to have to chew my noodles. I usually just slurp it up. The accouterments to my first bowl of mi were shredded lettuce and some of the breaded fried shrimp, doused with a mild oyster sauce. I would like to say for the most part that I keep an open mind and would try anything once, but I was getting a little panicky because my noodles weren’t softer. Or, at least, I didn’t know that mi wasn’t supposed to be soft. I’m such a nub. So, second time’s the charm. I had my mi in the hot soup with char siu. The char siu was nice and tender, good-sized portions too. The hot soup helped soften the noodles a bit, but I tried not to drink too much of the soup knowing full well it was chock full of MSG. Now that I’ve been acclimated to the noodle’s texture, I’m ready to take on the dry version again.

I absolutely love the Mi Dac Biet! I’m very picky with egg noodles, but this place does it for me. The service is somewhat alright. The manager/owner lady is always there when I walk in. She’s nice and is prompt when writing our orders down. I can easily say that is restaurant is on my top five vietnamese places to eat at!

I was starving after my haircut and didn’t wanna go far, so my mom suggested Mi La Cay for lunch(located in the same plaza as my hairdresser). I was a lil skeptical about going here because I am super picky with my mi. I ordered the mi dac biet. Much to my surprise the mi was real good. The noodles were not overcooked, a lil al dente style. The broth was just right, not too salty. My only complaint is that the dac biet did not come with liver… Oh and the complimentary soda was a nice lil plus. Good and fast service, cheap food and seems like a clean place.

One of my favorite places to go when I crave mi la cay. I always get noodles with fried shrimps with soup on the side and my boyfriend always get duck with red rice. This place is pretty affordable. My noodle costs about $ 4.75 or so, and it’s rare that you find a small Asian/Vietnamese restaurant that accepts credit card, so that’s a huge plus. Every once in a while, they have promotions for free drinks and such. There’s never a wait. They sit you down and serve your food pretty quickly.

IMO this location is better than the one on Brookhurst and Westminster. I like to get the Mi Ga Quay which is supposed to be roasted chicken meat but in fact it seems like it’s fried. Either way, it’s just a tasty chicken dark meat quarter mostly unseasoned and crispy. The mi, egg noodles, have a great tough texture. I hate it when they are too soft and have no character. The broth is good though I believe they use MSG as I have that powdery feeling on my teeth after eating the noodles here. It’s usually a consistently good bowl of noodles, nothing spectacular. I think the noodles here lack creativity and by that I mean they just usually toss some sliced green leaf lettuce and green onions. Not much in the way of condiments. It’s almost 4 stars, not quite…

I love Mi La Cay’s noodles!!! Sometimes when I’m craving for noodles, I would stop what I’m doing and drive all the way down to Westminster just to get some food.(20 minute drive from where I live). And this location is the BEST out of the others, much cleaner facility and tastier foods :) I’ve tried a variety of things on their menu and each thing that I’ve tried so far hasn’t failed me yet. I love their Combination Chow Fun, Beef Stew Noodle Soup, and Seafood Fried Rice, but my favorite would have to be the BBQ Duck Rice Noodle Soup with soup on the side — bomblicious I tell you! The way their duck is cooked isn’t like the ducks you see at the other Chinese Restaurants where there’s a fatty skin and the fat is visible, but instead their duck is extra crispy, so when you bite into it you hear a crunch, like *crunch crunch* inside the mouth, it’s cooked to perfection where it doesn’t look greasy and it has a THIN layer of skin which makes it look scrumptious. YUUUUUUM-OHH!!!

Been to a few of the Mi La Cay locations and this isn’t one of my favorites. I’d say this location has more MSG and flavor-wise, isn’t as good as the one off Westminster behind Phở Quang Trung. That one is my favorite. However, the service is fast and they speak Cantonese which helps a lot. I always get the house special mi kho which is the dry lo mein. I like the texture of the noodles but I didn’t like the fact that the cha siu wasn’t really cha siu but was just pork. The pork was very tender but kind of fatty. If you like fatty pork then you’ll like this. The accompanying broth was okay, not as good as the other location and of course, lots more MSG!.
