I buy the rice sheets at Thai Son to make my «Banh Uot» at home. Their rice sheets are made fresh and I love how light, thin, and fluffy they are! When you buy a stack of the rice sheets, it comes with prepared fish sauce and scallions($ 10 total and is enough for 4 servings). Great deal! I just cut up Cha Lua and voila, easy meal! Great for lunch meal prep too. This Vietnamese dish called«Banh Uot» are light, fluffy rice sheets cut into strips and garnished with Cha Lua(pork loaf), steamed bean sprouts, cucumbers, mint leaves, grilled scallions, and prepared fish sauce. It’s easy, simple to make, and great for lunch. A favorite of mine growing up! I think the rice sheets here are the best.

Don’t expect customer service here. One lady was nice when we asked questions while the other one was so RUDE. I felt like we were in Vietnam where customer service is not expected.

Placeholder removed, real review inserted: Thai Son has become on of my new favorite fruit markets! I had some jackfruit from there yesterday that filled my house from wall to wall with the pungent aroma of delicious jackfruit literally within ten seconds of walking in the door… and it tasted every bit as good as it smelled. The couple who runs it are both super friendly and will work with you to only sell you as much as you want even if what they have prepackaged is too big or too small. Their selection isn’t as good as Trai Cay Ngon’s next door or even the other one a couple storefronts down whose name I don’t know, but what they do have is pretty much guaranteed to be quality.

I was raised by my grandma for the first 9 years of my life and during those 9 years Grandmama would tell me the story of how she struggled as a single mom raising my Dad and uncle by selling banh cuon and banh uot(rice flour sheets). Consequently, banh cuon is my dad’s favorite thing to eat. So I started a new tradition, every time I go visit my parents I would stop by at Thai Son for 5lbs of banh cuon, because it is super fresh and tasty and cheap. The sheets are super thin but springy and durable. It is about $ 3.50 a lb for banh cuon. Banh cuon is different from banh uot, I mean they’re both made out of rice flour, but the banh cuon has stuffing and the banh uot does not. Easy huh? So even though my older sister does not make my dad fill up her gas tank when she comes for a visit and she graduated from Pharm school and is very generous with them, but I buy them banh cuon every time I visit. I win! Thanks Thai Son! :) P.S: I wouldn’t buy fruits here, especially if they also sell it at the supermarket primarily because I think it’s actually cheaper at ABC market. Anyhoo, come here for the banh uot and banh cuon. It is super fresh and the banh uot is so thin. I don’t know how they do it. I also like their cha lua(pork roll). I don’t care so much for their nuoc mam because it’s too bland, make your own, there are tons of recipe or go buy a bottle at Banh Cuon Tay Ho, their nuoc mam is pretty decent

I only come here to purchase banh uot(rice flour). When you purchase the banh uot, you also receive fried garlic and fish sauce. The banh uot is pretty fresh. The prices vary based on pound. They also sell fruits and flowers here along with every other store in that plaza. I would come back again for the banh uot.

Rip off warning! Zero stars if I could. Momma said stay away from this place. Of course we didn’t listen. This place is way overpriced for the junk they sell and went bad after we got it home. The old farts here talk sheit about you if you don’t buy anything. They cussed behind a couples who didn’t buy anything after they left(in front of us!). Nice. They only stay in business because suckers are born every second.

I’m not a regular yet… but I will be!(well, if you consider a regular a once-a-yearer!) My cousins and I decided to take a So Cal trip to West-min-ster(w/Vietnamese accent) before the Lunar New Year celebration to get some tropical fruits and take-in the ambiance of Little Saigon… but ooooh-weee… I felt like I was in Vietnam. They had fruit and flower stands set up everywhere… it was gorgeous and scary at the same time. Since there were so many different stands we decided to bargain shop before purchasing the fruits… luckily we stumbled upon Thai Son. When every-where else was selling a case of the Rambutans for $ 45, we found them at a steal here for $ 35. And that was because we were buying in bulk. I DIDNOT know this, but apparently we were visiting Lil Saigon in So Cal to supply for Lil Saigon in Nor Cal(aka San Jose) My cousins and I purchased 6 cases of Rambutans(total 42 L-Bs), Mangosteen, Guanabana, Guava, Hawaiian Papaya and who the heck knows what else! LOL … And if you don’t know what any of those things are, that’s why they are tropical and very very hard to find fresh. The manager gave us a great price all the entire purchase so we were happy shoppers. Now with a happy tummy and packed van… we were ready to head back home. See you next year! We will definitely be back for the fruit yummy tropical fruits next year!

Fruit on top of Fruit and then some Flowers! Fruit and Fresh Flowers. Two stores side by side sporting the same commodities. I am not sure of the relationship between the two, but I like this one better. The lady was super nice. She did not try to force any products on me. Instead, a sweet warm smile lured me to her shop. The odors of fruit and fresh flowers are simply amazing. If you are looking for any type of fruit, you can find it here. If not here, walk next store and you are bound to see it. Fruits range from mangoes and papayas to jack fruit. Prices are about average. It’s the selection that makes this place unique. Apparently, they like to bargain also. Amazing. What an experience to be surrounded by so many fruits and flowers, two stores in a row. Must be what Eden would have been like. No poisonous apples here! Thai Son Fruit and Flower Store, Bolsa… Another reason the OC is the best place to live!
