Came back a couple of days ago. Not too sure if it was just a bad day but as far as I know, crawfish is definitely in season right now. so why was my pound and a half of crawfish so puny? The sauce was definitely off that day. not much flavor and the spice level was not as I remembered. maybe they switched chefs or changed their sauce ingredients. That’s what I originally came for! Anyway, this is the first out of maybe about five times I’ve been here that I was disappointed. I’ll give it another shot but if I’m disappointed again I might not consider coming back. C’mon guys! I gave you guys 5 stars on my last review!

Yeah 5 stars from me. Order the chicken wings. Yep, you’ll thank me later, and then again and again after you end up eating here on the daily. The chicken wings are to die for. Better than kickin crab by a huge margin I got the combo number one. One lb of shrimp. One pound of crawfish. One lb of clams. Also has corn and sausages. Also comes with waffle cut fries. All for $ 33.99. Can’t beat that. No lines either. Went on a Saturday. Nice and clean place. Delicious!!! The shrimp was fresh too. Kickin crab had some over cooked shrimp so this place is awesome. They also used to have happy hour which is half off for appetizers but I didn’t get it during Saturday. Oh well!!! Go eat here. Seriously it’s so good. I wanna go back again. Oh yeah get the rockin combo. It’s just like boiling crab but cheaper and less lines haha Ps. Go already and stop contemplating.

Came in on a Thursday night at 10 pm cos Wild crab was closed, and this place was dead… *crickets* They have this deal for buy 1 get 1 free on frozen crawfish, shrimp, and clams but it didn’t seem like much cause me and my boyfriend finished 4 pounds no problem but when we go to Kickin crab or Boiling we’ll only make it to 2 lbs. Not sure if we were really hungry or if they low balled us 0. o Frozen crawfish: tasted like it was just thawed out. Not chewy plus the sauce was dry :( Shrimp: watery sauce but not that bad. ** Peach green tea was SOO good tho. $ 1 for refills and it was probably the only part I liked about our meal. I’d say to stick to wild crab when the crawfish is frozen.

Dear Rocking Crawfish, Why do you not have rice? :(. I love eating my crawfish and the delicious cajun sauce that is exploding with flavor over rice. Other than that complain, the food here is great. Crawfish here run bigger and fatter than other joints around and this is just how I like them! Less to peel but more meat in eat crawfish. Their seasoning is not too salty nor greasy. I always get mild spicy because I can’t hang past medium. Other recommendations: The sweet potato fries and chicken wings are good too!

Just another imitation boiling crab~ the shrimp was good and as were the crawfish. The sauce was good and Cajun fries were mediocre(though the texture was nice and crispy). However I have to dock them stars for poor service. This was my first time here. Tbh, we came here as a last resort(both boiling crabs on Euclid and brookhurst were both over an hour and a half wait). We wanted to split the combo but we didn’t know that it all came in one bag so we decided to switch our order around(since we wanted different levels of spiciness). Waitress rolled her heavily lined eyes so hard I thought her fake lashes would come off! Dang, our bad… On top of which she messed up our order! I will admit that it was complicated by the fact that we were splitting an order… but if you didn’t understand it then clarify! Or at least repeat our order after we said it. To top it all off, when we asked her why we were missing part of our meal, she snapped at us, saying that we that we hadn’t ordered it in the first place… Then even though our order was messed up, there was no rush placed on it or anything… she just put it in after all of the other orders from the tables she was waiting on… which basically meant that one person in our party didn’t have food for another 20 minutes… and she was pissed! Overall, the food here was pretty good. Nothing really comes close to boiling crab(as far as the sauce goes, they’re the best), though the crawfish and shrimp were quite good. But I’m definitely not coming back… I expect at LEAST decent customer service and we didn’t even get that… I’d rather wait in line for boiling crab.

This place is pretty good. Love the crawfish. Its live crawfish so its fresh and not frozen. The rocking combo has great flavors. If you cannot handle good spice, you should get the mild because spicy is flaming hot. But they are kind of stingy on their corn and sausages because you only get one of half corn from buying three pounds and two slices of sausages. Their special deal is buy three pounds get one pound free. The service is great. Everyone is friendly.

I love this place. I think Boiling Crab and other places are over hyped and people just like going there because they think that since there is crowd waiting in line, the food must be good… mehhhh I have been to almost all crawfish places around OC and The Rockin’ Crawfish has the best sauce and fresh live BIG crawfish among all of them. I don’t know if I come at the right times but almost every single time, I get the most juicy and big batch, especially during the crawfish season. The owner has his own supplier I believe and he gets new orders very often. Comparing the size of crawfish to other places, they are huge. Service may be slow sometimes and I understand why some people complain but it is because there are few servers and if the place gets packed, they just cannot catch up. But otherwise, the servers are really friendly and attentive. The location is by the supermarket so parking is usually bad but I would not blame that on them and they still deserve 5 stars from me!

I love this place. Always go in a group of about 5 – 10. We all order tons of food and enjoy. Usually we can never finish everything but we eat until we are full. The staff is friendly, atmosphere is nice, sometimes it is quiet sometimes it is loud. You can write on the walls. There are no plates, you just eat on the butcher paper table cloth. We usually spend about 15/person and it is well worth it if you like seafood. The shrimp and crawfish are fresh. The are cooked with heads and legs attached so you have to peal and eat. It slows me down but the deliciousness is worth the wait. Getting a parking does suck here. Its not easy

A friend who has been here so many times was craving for crawfish and I told her we can go to The Boiling Crab. But she told me about The Rockin Crawfish. She said that it is same as The Boiling Crab. And so it was on a Sunday afternoon when me and my friend finally came to eat here. The parking was crazy. One star deduction. It was packed since the place is located in a busy Asian strip mall. We got in, and da-da, there was no line. We got seated by this very courteous gal, immediately. There were only two tables occupied. And that is one star right there. And so, I looked at the menu, and basically, they are nearly the same with the boiling crab’s. I ordered the clams, Cajun fries, egg roll with crawfish meat, my friend ordered crawfish, and buffalo wings. I was going to order shrimp but I am allergic to it. And so the waiting time started, and da-da, our food were ready, after a couple of minutes. Another star right there. So we started eating, and I could tell, the clams were fresh prior to cooking. The egg rolls with crawfish meat were fried to perfection, the crispiness is fabulous. And my favorite Cajun fries, not too oily, just fine. And the buffalo wings were perfectly cooked. Another star for the presentation. I also placed take home orders which were King crab legs, shrimp and Cajun fries(for my sister), and were prepared very quickly. They make you feel you are a valued customer. Another star for customer service. The place didn’t get busy while we were there. This place is the best alternative to the Boiling Crab. Actually, not just an alternative, it’s the other boiling crab, just that the name is The Rockin Crawfish.

I’m a little bit sad that Rockin’ Crawfish has gone downhill recently. I used to frequent this place since their sauce was good and it was the next best thing aside from BC or Hot N Juicy. Their menu is simple and similar to the other billion crawfish/seafood boil places in the OC and LA. I do like that they have a bit of variation with their fries(gaufrettes ftw), although on many occasions they have become soggy before even reaching my table. Seafood quality is average, not the best around but their crawfish beats Boiling Crab by far. They are usually larger and not as «squishy» or «flimsy» as BC. The shrimps are cooked just right which is nice. Only complaint is that their sauce has changed and not for the better. Too much powdered seasoning so it feels funny in your throat, and I’m not even talking about the spicy options(which by the way are really spicy here). Try their garlic butter, can’t really go wrong with that. Another downside is that they don’t have too many traditional dishes — no gumbo, jambalaya or po-boys. Sometimes I don’t feel like too much seafood or have guests that aren’t too fond of seafood so that’s not too good. Service is always a hit or miss, more often than not they will forget things and it can get pretty disorganized when it is busy. Not the friendliest waitstaff. Another plus is that their lineup, if there is one is usually really short and the food is fast which is great for those intense gotta-have-it cravings.

Amazing flavors! Great prices! Great Service! I will not going back to enjoy this place due to my sudden disgust with tearing apart and cleaning my own food after it’s already been cooked. However, This pace has amazing food! The service was casual yet still attentive and the portions were insane!

Absolutely love this place! Better choice over Boiling Crab which gets packed way too much! Great atmosphere and service! The workers here are always nice and the food it’s outstanding. The longest wait time I have had was about 20mins last night, which was expected considering its lent… Other than that wait time is 0−5mins(which is usually for them to clean off a table). I always get a pound or two of shrimp; I recommend the Rockin’ Combo flavoring with extra spicy! And we get the spicy criss-cut seasoned fries. Delicious!!! The corn is always a plus too! And their Peach Green tea is my absolute favorite! Lol we tried the oysters last night and they were also very good! It was my first experience with oysters and I will definitely have them again. Definitely one of our favorite dinner spots!!’

Love, love, love seafood. Its not drowned in butter and makes you feel like you just ate a lb of lard. Warning: its highly seasoned and spicy. Get the rockin’ sauce similar to the shabang sauce minus the heavy cream buttery taste. If you are not into spice you should get mild if you dare. Parking might be extremely long but at least its not a two to three hour wait!

I’ve been here a couple of times and there’s never been a wait! I actually had lunch at Boiling Crab and dinner at Rockin Crawfish yesterday(don’t ask why) so I have a pretty good comparison between the two The signature Rockin’ Combo is not as good as the Whole Shebang from across town but its still delicious. The sauce at Boiling Crab has more herbs and spices and is thicker, so it is more flavorful and zesty. The Rockin Combo sauce at Rockin Crawfish is much sweeter and spicier(on the medium spicy level). We ordered 1lb of crayfish and 1lb of shrimp and they gave us one piece of corn and a few sausage pieces in our bag, which were pretty tasty. The sauce is delicious but they don’t seem to cook the crawfish/shrimp in the sauce long enough so that the seafood absorbs the flavor. The sauce just stays on the shell but doesn’t get into the meat. After peeling the shell away, the crayfish and shrimp just taste like plain ol crayfish and shrimp without any sauce so I had to dip it in the bag a couple of times. The shrimp I had here recently were HUGE(much bigger than the ones at BC) but the crayfish were TINY. The meat of both tasted fresh and juicy. They have happy hour from Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4pm-7pm with 50% off beer and appetizers. On Tuesdays, they have this game where they flip a coin at the end of your meal and you have to guess what side it is — if you guess right, you get 20% off your entire check. We got it and we were pretty happy. I think one of the only downsides is that the service here is slow most of the time. I used to think that small, empty restaurants would have better and quicker service but that’s not true. Busy and crowded restaurants like Boiling Crab will have fast service with dozens of waiters running around because they want you out of there ASAP. In contrast, the Rockin Crayfish is always so empty that the workers just stand and chill around the counter until we have to throw our hands in the air or yell across the restaurant. We were the only customers in the restaurant yesterday and it took forever for someone to come take our order. Nobody(out of the 5 workers standing around behind the counter) came up to us to ask how we were doing the entire time. We had to yell across the restaurant to ask for our check. We gave a pretty big tip yesterday because we were happy to get 20% our check with the Tuesday game but I was thinking«Man, they do not deserve that much tip otherwise.» Not bad service, its just really slow and inattentive. ZzZzZz. All in all, a decent place to get good crayfish and shrimp if you don’t want to wait 1.5 hours for BC. There’s never a wait and its practically always empty. The prices are about the same and the food is delicious but the service can be kind of slow.

I used to LOVE this place and I went so often, even if it was only to catch a drink. The service is still pretty awesome, but lately the food isnt as good anymore. The appetizers dont taste as fresh(hot, crispy, etc)… and the sauce isnt as flavorful or satisfying. For instance, their blue crabs are now placed into a bowl. It gets cold and dry. It used to be placed in a bag with plenty of sauces and seasoning. It’s still good and the people who work here are still nice. But just doesn’t taste like top quality food anymore…

Rating 3.5 stars Boiling crab or the Claw have a long ass wait? Well then come to Rockin’ Crawfish! Usually no wait and the food is just as good! Food: I ordered the 1lb of shrimp/spicy/Rockin combo(basically whole-sha-bang)/& a potato. And it was pretty damn good. The spicy had just enough kick to it in the beginning. When it was closer to finishing my pound my mouth started to light on fire. haha. Got the waffle fries, mozzarella sticks and fried zucchini for appetizer. Also had some raw oysters. All the appetizers I mentioned, I recommend. I already miss the raw oysters! I’ve also ordered the fish and chips here before. I didn’t really like it. Maybe it was cause i was dead tired when i tried it. I don’t know. Didn’t taste good to me. And while your grubbing down on your shrimp grab a ice cold beer! I just wished you would give a basket full of fried oysters instead of only giving 6 or something(i’m just used to BC’s way. sorry. :D) =\ Service: really friendly. Well maybe thats because my friends are regulars there and they know all the waitresses by name. But yeah, really friendly and they checked up on us a lot. Price: $ 9.99 for a lb of shrimp. Not bad. Parking: Parking sucks! So hard to find parking there. And when you do find parking the car next to the open space is always parked retarded! lol. Will i be back? Sure! My friends go all the time. So when I’m not lazy to drive out to westminster, I’ll see you again rockin crawfish!
