So this is the second closest grocery store to my house. Thats why I come. The first closest has half the selection and the prices are higher. There is a Redbox machine inside. The beer selection is meh. The meats, meh. The veggies, meh. No cilantro usually. smh From time to time the prices on butter, cheese and meats can be cray cray low. Also the coffee creamers too.

This is a store that has both a take it or leave it attitude and has just stopped trying altogether. The staff is friendly, but thats where the praise ends. It’s expensive to shop here. They use the buy one get one free gimmick a lot, but the prices are so high, it’s not a savings. They don’t have a great selection of items, they never add or change things up. There’s never free samples, they are not innovative. The produce section. I don’t care if people think that Westwego people are simple and don’t move past the staples, They should really have a better selection. 2 words Winn Dixie: REDCABBAGE. The deli! ugh, it’s bad, the sign has cobwebs that look like they are from the 80’s. The prepared food behind the glass looks like it’s been sitting there for God only knows how long, crusted over and nasty, yet it sits there with this take it or leave it attitude, nobody cares. Theres been more than one occasion where I get the deli meat home and it only lasts a few days before getting slimy. Nowadays I go in and theres only ever a few customers in the store, but the Piggly Wiggly store is always packed because their prices are much better. I will travel out of my way to not shop here. I go all the way to Rouses in Gretna for a selection and decent produce section, and I save money.

I’m upgrading this from 2 stars to 3. It’s still a small selection for a Winn Dixie, and they don’t maintain the produce section as well as they could(there were NO bananas today. None. The banana table consisted of about 10 green plantains). So, why upgrade the review? Cheap stuff. Over the past few months, I’ve realized that people in Westwego must not like produce or «healthy» meats. Thus, these items are regularly marked down when they near their best before date. Like I mentioned in my previous review, the cheap produce is great if I’m picking something up for dinner. Cheap meats though? Fabulous — it can go in the freezer. For example, this evening I found some«All Natural» sausages, in various flavors, that were a ridiculous $ 5.99 each regular price. However, they were part of the BOGO sale that week… thus, about $ 3 per pack. Since the best before date is tomorrow, they each had a $ 2 off sticker. I happily grabbed some andouille and sweet Italian sausage for $ 1 per pack. They had really cheap gluten-free chicken and turkey burgers too! I will never come here on a weekend to do my major shopping trip, but doing a quick loop around the perimeter of the store after work 1 – 2 times per week seems to be a great strategy for saving a ton of money.
