All-States Cremation

I never thought I’d have to write a review about my daughters cremation. MY DAUGHTER! Then to have her things cremated with her while we asked for them not to is mind blowing. Let me tell you a little about those things. Her favorite book that she would pick out everyday and want me to read to her. A book that I would of liked to pass down to other children we might have. A rose that I saved from her first birthday. The only birthday I got to celebrate with her. Her blanket that all I want to do is hold. I’m not sure if you’ve ever lost someone but those things matter. They’re all you have left and you took that from me. You can never replace this lose and I hope that you never do this to someone else. If you’re reading this review thinking of using this place please go else where. Please don’t let there even be a chance for it happening again. Go somewhere else!

I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you truly want a nice experience for your loved one. My mother passed away suddenly over Easter weekend and working with All-​States was a complete and utter disappointment. The individual who was supposed to be in charge of the arrangements called in sick and never bothered to contact us to let us know who we should contact or who would be assisting with the service, the prayer cards, memorial folders or anything! Thankfully, we called to find out what was happening, because Dwight, the person who helped us, never bothered to inform us what was going on.
We then had to rush and send all of the information to another representative who also failed to post my mother’s online obituary, thus many people did not attend because they did not know anything about what had happened. In addition, they got my mother’s birth date wrong on the obituary and posted it twice! This caused the printer of the actual newspaper obituary to post the wrong date as well.
With regard to the location on Jason Street, it is the most deplorable location ever! It is in a fully industrial area, no parking, and nothing to show the location of the business.
Lastly, my father had to keep calling them to find out when my mother’s ashes would be available for pick up, as they never bothered to call them, and then they didn’t return my mother’s rosary, glasses or jewelry, which was requested prior to the start of the service.
I know many people don’t have a choice when choosing how much money to spend for a cremation, but please look at other providers so that you and your family do not have to endure the horrible service we went through with All-​States. It was an inexpensive alternative, which my mother wanted, but the people are completely incompetent and uncaring. They only want your money, so please look elsewhere when looking at cremation services. They may be more money, but you will get a caring staff.

It seems weird to say «Yay! I’m a fan» of a cremation place. Anyway, this could have been a five star review, but it’s not. When I knew that my father’s time was coming, I sent a message to All-​States via their website. I was contacted, and then all I could do was wait. My father died on a Saturday. By Monday morning, I finally called All-​States to see what was going on with his body and to start working on the arrangements. Apparently they tried calling me, but had the first six digits of my number and the last four of my husband’s phone number. I don’t know where the disconnect was between my web inquiry and the hospice paperwork was. So I’m glad that I was proactive.
I was able to come in later on in the afternoon of that same Monday, which was nice. We went over the paperwork and the options. After I fretted about how I was going to pay the costs of their services, since I didn’t have the money outright, they gave me two options. First, I could apply for «bill me now» through Paypal. Not an option. The second was donating my father’s body to Science Care. if he was accepted, they would cover the costs of the cremation. Since it seems in line with what he would have wanted, we put in the application. The application does not specifically state that Science Care would pay the costs, so I added it on there. I really think that they should present that option at the beginning. My neighbor’s husband died a few years ago, and she went through All-​States as well. She said that he would have liked to have donated his body to science, but she didn’t know that that was an option.
I had family friends tell me that I should order 10 copies of the death certificate, because you never know who wants an original copy. After being upset at the large price tag of the cremation services and then having it settled with Science Care, I let Bevin, the funeral director I was working with, talk me into 3. I realize that $ 137 in death certificates (for 10) is a lot compared to $ 46 for 3, but that is a lot easier to cover than the total cremation costs. Anyway, so she ordered 3 and I kept kicking myself for it after I left. She called on the following Wednesday. I stopped by on Thursday to pick up the death certificates. Through an error on their part, they still ordered 10 copies, but they only charged me for 3. I felt they did right by me, and I did inform Bevin that although my dad didn’t have many assets, I used three death certificates just to inform the credit bureaus of my father’s passing. At this point, I was hovering at 2 – 3 stars in my mind for this review.
When it came time to pick up my father’s ashes, she came into the room and left the door open. Then she left and came back, carefully bringing the ashes in. It was an upsetting moment for me, but I really appreciated that she handled my father’s remains with dignity and respect. That is what put this review up to a solid four stars. In all, I think I would return if I am stuck in this situation again. I have a better understanding of how the process works, although I think having a second person who is a little more assertive with me might be a good idea.
