Here’s the facts as I know them: 1. Our furnace was working before we got our free tune-up from Tommy at Golden Heating and Air Inc. At that tune-up he told us our heat exchanger was likely to fail and we needed to buy a new furnace asap. 2. The high limit was bent during that visit, causing it to touch the chassis and short out the furnace, blowing fuses and stopped working 2 days later. 3. When Tommy from Golden Heating and Air Inc. came back while we were out of town, he told us that the control board was bad, and that he could install one for $ 700 but we should just replace our furnace. We got a bill for $ 60. 4. Joe from Golden Heating and Air Inc. lent us space heaters and gave us a quote around $ 5,300 for a new furnace. 5. When we returned home, we got another HVAC company come over to give us a second quote on a new furnace, as we assumed we needed to buy a new one. He told us a couple things, that these old furnaces are very repairable and affordable and that Amana also warranties their heat exchangers for life(and he’d NEVER seen one fail). They also recommended replacing the control board at that time, based primarily on our prior recommendation. 6. I started looking into it and realized I could get a new control board for $ 100 or less. I ordered one which instead of taking three days as promised, took 5 to arrive. I installed it and the furnace still wouldn’t start. 7. That second HVAC company came back the following Monday, again, identified the bent limit, told us that it was intentionally bent, fixed it, and left us a bill for for approximately $ 170. The thermostat was fried as well, but we were able to change some wires and can get the furnace working in a jerry-rigged way until the replacement arrived in the mail. My family was without a working furnace for 2 weeks over holidays 2015⁄16 and it was very cold! The money lost was not much but NOFURNACEHEATFOR2WEEKS is not ok. We have called and emailed several times, we are sent straight to voicemail and no email replies.

DONOT use this service for original installation or repair. Brian originally installed a new furnace and A/C unit in my new house. After less than one year the furnace and A/C stopped working. Brian came by once to trouble shoot the issue and determined that an incorrectly installed thermostat after original installation was the issue. This was not the issue. Brian has not returned my multiple phone calls in over a week. I just had to pay another repair company $ 300 to fix incorrectly installed wiring(at the furnace connection, not the thermostat) and charge the A/C unit(which was never charged correctly during initial installation). All of which should have been covered under the original warranty.

Brian is awesome. We originally hired him to replace the old furnace in the home we recently purchased. Since it was one of the items on our list on concessions we didn’t have too much interaction with him initially. However, once we got to the house and the furnace wasn’t set up exactly the way we preferred he not only answered his phone right away and addressed our questions immediately, he also came to the house within 24 hours to provide a temporary fix until we were ready for a more permanent version. The permanent version was to come after a bit of work was done to our basement. Once the necessary basement work was finished Brian came back and fixed the furnace the way we preferred(for no extra cost other after the original installation fees) and then we asked him to come back and help us fix our vents in the basement as we only had one really large one in one our of four rooms. He was able to come back within a short amount of time(about a week or so) and close up the one big hole that was sucking lots of heat from all over the house and create a more effective, reasonable vent in each of the downstairs room over the course of the day. The icing on top was the fact that he went ahead and switched out our furnace filter for a heavy duty construction version while he was here without us asking for it just because he knew it would be better for us with all the construction going on in the basement. And when he told me that he also said to let him know when we are done with construction and he’ll come back to remove that filter and replace it with a more traditional one. Again, for no charge. With service like this I would definitely recommend Brian for a heating/air problem any time.
