The food and atmosphere was great. I had the trout special which was delicious. The patio was cozy. We will definitely dine here again.

Ok. I have some mixed feelings about this place. The first two times I’ve been here, my date and I received service from a waiter who looked like he had been partying for three days at a Widespread Panic show.(I love Widespread, so please don’t be offended). He argured with us after we never received out appetizers, telling us we didn’t order them. Ok. Next time I was there, it was great. We ate and drank and it was very nice… A year later, I came here and, yes, we walked in a little late and sat at the bar. We ordered food and the bartender was so rude. She actually made a snide comment about how they were closing the kitchen in 10 minutes. Really? We decided to brush it off and I’m pretty sure the bartender heard me make a comment about customer service, as her attitude changed immediately after that. Last time we were there it was so-so. The owner or manager or whoever he is, is super friendly. Perhaps he just needs to make some minor changes in who he hires…

Came here with a group of five. Made a reservation for dinner. Beautiful restaurant! On a cool spring night we were seated right next to the fireplace, that was lovely. Everyone’s food was good but… service was terrible!!! Our waitress completely inept. I honestly think she was high or drunk or something. Just as we were about to order my boyfriend said«you don’t have any specials do you?»(because she didn’t tell us about any) but turns out she did, glad we asked. She couldn’t pronounce them or describe them to us at all. We asked for some bread for the table and she was totally confused… brought us three small pieces of toast. Jojo, Jolene, something?, should not be a waitress. Would have been a great dinner if it weren’t for our server.

My daughter and I went here for brunch on a cold, snowy day. When we walked in, the staff brightened the day with their warm greeting and sunny smiles. Our waitress, Terese, had a smile that lit up the room. We couldn’t resist starting out with a warm bowl of the charred tomato bisque. Its presentation was beautiful and the taste even better. The croutons that soaked up the soup perfectly were a special added touch. My daughter had the crepes(the special was cinnamon pecan that day and yes, I had to try them) and I had the classic benedict. Yum! I chose this restaurant because it came up on Unilocal as a great place to go for crepes(my daughter loves them). But this place is so much more. I signed up for their newsletters and I’m already«jonesing» to go back. I can’t wait to try the patio one warm summer afternoon or evening(or both!). Thank you, Terese, and other members of the staff for making this a great first experience.

Stopped by later in the evening. Sat in the bar, so I can’t speak to the restaurant, but the area and people were friendly and inviting and thanked us as we left. Drinks and meal were just what we were looking for. When this place catches on, and the weather warrants opening the patio, I anticipate needing reservations!

Great dinner, brunch not so much. We drive by this place all the time and finally decided to stop in and check it out. Admittedly, for quite some time we had no idea what it was b/c the sign is quite small and from the outside driving by, you really just see a patio which in the winter goes unused. We went in a few weekends ago for our 5th anniversary dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Great food and large portions(except the pasta dish with my boyfriend ordered– was quite small), cooked well and good flavor profiles. I’m gluten free and enjoyed the gluten free options. The place is quite small but the ambiance was nice, quaint and they have a large fire place in the dining room. We were shocked how empty it was for a Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Either way, dinner was great! We decided last weekend to try brunch and I was disappointed. We sat for quite some time before a waitress finally appeared but we did get to enjoy the patio. I ordered an omelette and couldn’t finish it– not b/c it was too large but b/c the eggs were awful. I seriously got the impression they used carton eggs and microwaved them– they were not fluffy and soft like eggs would normally be and had the texture of having been microwaved. The spinach was also not cooked into the eggs and it seemed like they made the eggs, then put the fillings in on the plate and folded it over to consider it an omelette. We won’t return for brunch– but definitely for dinner or just drinks in the bar.

Love this place on weekend brunch on their large patio and bottomless mimosas! Their croquet madam is delicious along with salmon Benedict!

I really want to have a good place to go in the neighborhood that has a reliable brunch or dinner and I wanted so badly for this place to be it! I had been told by my wife of her experiences here that left«something to be desired», and after having brunch there today I know exactly what she meant. It was 11:30 am on a beautiful weekend day and the place was half empty, I was hoping that this was just good timing, but I think most others in the neighborhood already knew what I was about to find out. The service was very good and the place is beautiful, plus they have a nice patio… that is really the only positive things I can say – now for the«less positive”– The prices were out of whack for a neighborhood place($ 9 for a wedge salad that was tiny?). A plain omelette seems reasonably priced at $ 9, but adding each ingredient is $ 1 — and that includes green onions or spinach etc, it made me want to go shopping myself and make this breakfast for pennies comparatively. Oh yeah, the food wasn’t anything special, I mean it was just fine, but not for what we were paying. The food came out after other tables had ordered, but not a big deal at all, we weren’t in a rush. They have such a great location and a nice place, but today was probably enough to keep me going across Sheridan and to the Highlands for a more memorable meal. I do not like to give bad reviews, but almost wanted to give feedback to the management/ownership more than anything. I hope they can change some things up and turn this into a winner, but I don’t know if they will be able to do it. Best of luck because I know it isn’t easy to run a restaurant, I sincerely would like to see these folks succeed.

We’ve now been twice for dinner, nice atmosphere and clean. Food is good, but the service is so-so. Hostess was rather curt and seemed like we were an imposition despite having made a reservation. It was steady, but not overly busy. Had to flag server down to bring more hot water for tea. Ordered a starter salad and a bowl of the tomato bisque. Bisque came out, but no salad. So when we asked the server about it, he got very huffy and said we didn’t order one. Um, yea actually we did. Vodka shrimp fettuccine is very flavorful and made for a great entrée. Good fish and chips, fresh and not overly fishy.

I got the West 29th Street Burger($ 14) cooked medium with a side of skinny fries($ 3). It was really big, juicy, and delicious. I would definitely get it again. I just thought it was really expensive, especially since it didn’t come with fries. The guy never came by to refill our drinks… I downed a bottle of water as soon as I got home. The place was pretty big and not overly crowded on a Friday night. I tried to use Opentable to get a table at 7pm but they were booked until 9pm. I called the restaurant directly and was able to secure a spot for six people at 7.

The boyfriend and I have been here few times for brunch. My go-to breakfast/brunch choice is eggs benedict and it does not disappoint here. I would bathe in hollandaise sauce if I could. I get the classic style but one time, the boyfriend got the salmon benedict and he was not impressed. He said it was a little slimy and over salted. Other than that, everything we’ve gotten here has been good. They have a house made hot sauce that I really enjoy(versus the basic Tabasco or Cholula). I put it on my hash browns and it has a decent amount of heat to it. Each day, the crepes, scones, and pancakes have a specialty topping/filling. I don’t usually like sweet stuff for breakfast but they give the option of ordering 1 crêpe so I gave it a shot one day with pear and pecan compote… delicious! Even for someone without a sweet tooth, I was surprisingly pleased. We’re always warmly greeted and the wait staff is always polite and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t say they are overly friendly or chatty but always nice. We’re excited to finally go back and try it out for dinner.

Brought some out of town friends here for a nice dinner, and were not disappointed. Pros: Food was excellent in flavor and nice portions(we decided to share a few choices), decent price, and we left full. We got to sit on the patio under the lights, and the ambiance was great. Cons: We had the mussels, and the broth with them was sooooo delicious. I had a gripe though that they provide crunchy breadsticks at the table instead of soft bread, and when I asked for a few more slices of soft bread to absorb the awesomeness of the broth, they charged me extra for it, which seemed unnecessary. Also the restaurant was not that crowded, maybe four other tables total, and our server was not very attentive. We had a few requests after we tasted the meal, like extra water and stuff, and we couldn’t find him for almost 20 minutes — turns out he was doing busy work like re-arranging tables and preparing settings. I would have liked him to check on us more to make the dinner smoother.

Great place! We sat outside for breakfast on the patio. It was so charming with flowers and lights. We went for a late breakfast and had crepes and pancakes. All for under $ 20! Check out the pics. The food was delicious, the wait staff was very nice. We are coming back later in the evening to enjoy the wine bar!

I’ve been here twice now and each time, I get a brunch so good that I get upset after the first bite because I now sometime soon – too soon – this meal will be over and my ecstasy will subside. The crepes. Jesus christ, guys, the crepes here will change your life. If heaven is real, then they serve the West 29th Street Restaurant’s crepes for every meal and you never gain an ounce. Last time, I had the croque madame(I know, way to up the caloric content to a whole new level, Kelly), and it was just as decadent as it sounded. Seriously, I could have dribbled that sauce down the front of my shirt and I wouldn’t have cared, I was so into that meal. Also, bonus, croque for later! Though I’ve never been for lunch or dinner, I cannot recommend this place enough for brunch and I can’t wait to try it for other meals of the day.

We snuck in a quick Valentines dinner the day before Valentines day at 5pm without a reservation and with our baby boy in tow. The food was excellent and staff was friendly. I think we were one of the first to be there for their dinner service so the restaurant was quiet, just us, a couple elderly folks and another family with very young children. Our son threw a lot of the food on the ground and while most of the wait staff looked at him with endearment we did get a couple disapproving looks from a server that wasn’t even serving us so minus one star for that. Being relatively new to this ‘parenting’ thing, I’m very aware of the looks I get when my baby is throwing food all over the place and I usually apologize and offer to help clean up. We have been back a couple more times for brunch and dinner and we can’t wait to go back during summer and sit out on the patio.

Wow. Awesomeness. Great food! She had the lasagna I had the filet and both were mouth watering deliciousness. I’m picky from years of working in the service industry through school and I’m telling you try this place out!

Beautiful restaurant, a ‘first date’ kind of place with super friendly staff, reasonable prices and great food. Have their double pork chop, at $ 22 one of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. You will crave it again the next day. I still do a week later. Great beers and cocktails, two patios, parking and just a great ambiance. A hidden treasure.

Hats off to West 29th my visit. All the meals were prepared exceptionally and we had a food allergy guest that was dining with us and they took note to accommodate our needs. Very much appreciated and impressed to the level care they took for us. It was breakfast so it was busy, but very much worth the wait. This spot is a must try if you haven’t been yet.

Life appears so random at times.(You know, like when you sit down in the bathroom and your phone falls out of your shirt pocket; hits the TP dispenser and lands with a plop in the. .. let’s call it. .. water). Perhaps a little random TMI for ya? Uh, where was I? Oh yeah, that randomness thing… Running errands in the evening while my honey was at her monthly book group, a weird I-25 traffic slow-down prompted me randomly to take the Speer exit, heading north. Next thing I see the sign for 29th Street and remember that some Unilocal friends of mine had written reviews saying how much they’d enjoyed the West 29th Restaurant and Bar. Having no plans for dinner, I drove myself out 29th in the rain and found a ¼-filled really comfortable and inviting restaurant that set the stage for what turned out to be a very enjoyable meal: a meal all by my lonesome. Tired, wet, hungry, and a little grumpy(that I was all by myself:), I was greeted by the sweetest hostess whose warmth immediately cheered me up. She sat me at a charming small table right next to the fireplace and told me that I was really going to enjoy my meal. And ya know what…? I started to believe her. West 29th has a homey, yet stylish – almost prairie architecture design. Its open kitchen makes it hip. And it’s single large almost glass-enclosed dining area that borders a big patio space with lots of flowers kind of gives it the feel of a garden room or solarium. Adorable Erica was my server. Not shy about recommending her favorites, I had the lamb t-bones perfectly done medium rare. They were served with a flavorful molasses-touched sauce, along with polenta and fresh veggies, and it was well worth the $ 21 price tag. Ordered a very decent glass of Punto Final Malbec for $ 7 a pop and didn’t have room for dessert. All-in-all a genuine 4 star experience. Can’t wait till next summer to give their garden patio a try-out. But when that fireplace is going I bet its all warm and cozy inside, so hit ‘em up over the next few winter months. Their food offers comfort-and-a-half.

Went here a few weeks ago with a group of 6 for brunch. We got there just a few minutes after they opened and I was happy to see how many people were already seated. They have 2 large patios. Our server was friendly and tried to help us get in to a shady spot. My BF and I got 2 dishes to share. Classic eggs Benedict and their pancake of the week– strawberry & cream. The eggs were just ok, nothing special. But the pancake– that was really really good. I look forward to returning and trying dinner there.
