I brought my bike into Wheat Ridge Cyclery to have it serviced. It was completed professionally and on time. More importantly, I had a special request of management and they listened respectfully and were highly motivated to provide excellent customer service. I highly recommend this company based on my experience. Thank you Wheat Ridge Cyclery and especially DJ for treating me so well.

Terrible job at the servicing center. They have a very unhelpful and unknowable staff. Every time I go in there for questions for help or servicing on my single speed they treat me extremely poor. I suppose if you have an high end bike then they would be accustomed and helpful towards your needs. Overall though they have limited amount of gear selection and only have very high end products for sell that I believe to be over priced.

Disappointed! Not sure I will try them again. Went to get brakes installed/​bled before a big ride. The rear brake was not bled properly or at all. It would hit the grip unless I pumped it up 8 – 10 times in quick succession.
Next visit in a few days– they did bleed the brakes well but left the chain too long for a 2×9 setup… major chain suck and chain drag on the dérailleur in the small ring. The chainsuck locked up the crank hard enough to basically launch me off the bike. That was great. So I get to Breckenridge and Avalache Sports had to shorten the chain and adjust the derailleurs.
Wheatridge seems to have become too big. The service «advisors» up front– not sure if they actually do the work or if they have others actually doing the service work. I wanted to like these guys– they carry a lot of stuff and seem helpful, but have been disappointed 2 of 2 times.
I also picked up $ 16 worth of gels and bars similar to the first time but stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes before anyone helped me. Will the third time be a charm? Will there be a third time?

This store is massive! It’s very clean, organized and full of amazing bikes and cycling accessories. The types of bikes they carry are for more serious cyclers who enjoy extreme mountain biking, extensive road cycling and triathlons/​racing. I talked with employee Wayne Herrick and he really knows his stuff! He says he’s out riding one of his many bikes as much as he possibly can so he can definitely answer any questions you have on your search for the perfect, new bike.
If you are looking for the bicycle to take your hobby to the next level, you need to pay Wheat Ridge Cyclery a visit. You may just find the two-​wheeler you were looking for!

Wheat Ridge spent 3 hours with me on two different days (6 hours!) and in the end talked me OUT of a bike I’d put on layaway. I stopped in two days ago, and Andy helped me look through several bikes. He was patient and answered all of my questions. He wound up setting up several bikes for me to ride. In the end, I decided on a bike and put in on layaway to give myself a couple days to think about it and be sure. When I returned, Andy was out but Tara helped me. I explained that before I picked up the layaway bike I wanted to take one last look at another bike that I wondered might be a better fit. Long story short, three hours later, a look from one of their bike fit guys, and two more rides, we decided that the layaway bike was NOT the right bike. They said they wanted to make sure I bought a bike I’d be happy with in the long run. Who else takes tons of time to not make a sale? At no time did I feel any pressure. I was impressed! I’m still deciding about the bike, (same price but lower components, so I’m thinking on it) but I know which shop to recommend!

Went in about a week ago wanting to check out some basic bikes for every day riding around Lakewood/​Wheat Ridge. While most of the bikes are quite sophisticated/​pricey they were more than happy to spend some time making sure I found the right fit and feel with a bike. I was in a few times between the initial test, ordering it and picking it up and the staff was patient with a novice and very helpful guiding me to the right choice. Didn’t try to oversell me and helped me get the bike ready to ride out on pick up.

Very frustrating experience with them over the past few days. My husband put a layaway on a bike last week and decided to cancel the transaction. We live over 30 minutes from the shop and my husband tried to contact them via phone to cancel his transaction. Even spoke to the manager and they would not help him on the phone. They insisted he had to come in with his credit card to cancel the transaction. Would not help him via phone, email or mail. He went to the shop and all they said was sorry and then ran his card through for the credit? Can’t believe that a company in 2015 still operates this way! My husband had bought many bikes from them over the years and is still looking to purchase a bike-​will not be here!

Could not be more happy with these guys. Didn’t try to over sell me. Told me what I could save some money on without losing performance. Totally worked with me on the price. Thanks!!! Super knowledgable and helpful

Years ago I bought a Specialized Roubaix Expert Compact from Wheat Ridge. This bike took me to an entirely new level of cycling. It do not, however take me to the top of the financial heap. Recently, after cracking the frame, destroying the rear wheel and dérailleur on the Roubaix I had the opportunity to return to Wheat Ridge Cyclery for a new bike.
After working with Adam and getting prices, I attempted to be «Oh so smart, and to order a bike oniline from Kurnia Cycles in Indonesia; at half the price no less. All I can say is thank goodness for Paypal and paying with plastic and a guarantee. I learned a valuable lesson, that even when checking out a company thoroughly, talking to at length and attempting to verify as much as possible, one can still be ripped off. I got my money back with little issue. (interestingly, I received an apology note from the money recipient that, «They were taking money from PayPal and not me and that I would get my money back.» Interesting indeed…
Subsequently, I ran as fast as possible back to Wheat Ridge Cyclery and Adam. After apologizing myself profusely and begging for forgiveness, Adam set me up with the bike of my dreams and aspirations. As Trek did not make the exact bike I was desiring – this even though they were demo’ing it, Adam and the nice folks at Wheat Ridge Cyclery made it happen to my satisfaction.
With the bike assembled and ready, Adam took over the fitting and adjusting. While I am pretty much an average/​average/​average off-​the-​rack fit, there were some tweaks and adjustments. Adam also took the time to explain the differences between shoes, pedals, helmets and computers. I left the store in an amazingly fit Trek Domane 6.2 with hydraulic disc brakes and Di2 electric shifters, lighter in wallet a bit but fitting and outfitted for safety and comfort. I still need to setup an appointment with Phil Who also works at Wheat Ridge for custom orthotics foot-​beds for cycling and skiing to be reviewed later. But happy am I.

This is my go-​to place for anything bike-​related. I even go there to get answers to my strange beginner cycling questions.
The staff there is super helpful and I feel like they don’t pressure you to buy anything. Evan, our rep who sold us my husband’s mountain bike, was very patient and informative. The gentleman who sold me my clipless shoes gave me tips on how to help my feet that were going numb during my rides.
They also offer financing with zero interest at times through some bike manufactures. Check them out!

I bought my road bike at WRC in 1998; a really nice LeMond bike that cost nearly $ 3,000, which for me was a REALLY BIG DEAL! I had never bought anything like that before; I was quitting smoking and had always wanted a nice road bike, so I bought it as a reward and incentive. I liked the idea of buying my bike at WRC too because I grew up rooting for Ron Keifel and the 7 – 11 team.
When I got the bike the rear brake mechanism was wonky and the metal was shaved off like someone’s tool had slipped when installing it and they didn’t bother to fix it. So I had to bring the bike in right away to get that fixed, and when I did I surprisingly got some push back, with them questioning whether they had done it or I had done it. I was kind of shocked by the suggestion, but I thought it must be an isolated incident so I’ll let it pass.
So I get the bike back finally, and there is a tear in the seat where clearly the bike had been knocked over in the shop and it ripped the leather on the seat. I asked them about it and again they gave me attitude and suggested that «shit happens.» I was stunned. So after arguing with them about it, they begrudgingly offered to put on a new seat for me. At that point though, I told them where to stick it and I promised myself I would never go back.
Fast forward to this past spring, I was living near the shop and needed some repairs done. I thought it’s been so long maybe it’s worth trying them again. So I took it in for some work, and when I got it back and went out for a ride, it was clear that something was wrong. The chain kept slipping and at one point I was putting on a lot of torque trying to cross a busy road, and the chain slipped completely off the chain ring and I nearly fell down in front of a speeding car! I was furious.
So I brought the bike back, and again they gave me lip and suggested it was no big deal, but since they were nice guys they’d take a look and see what they could do. They ultimately fixed the problem, but the attitude was unbelievable and frankly, there should not have been a problem to begin with.
Finally the other day I brought it in to another shop to work on (Nice Bike on S. Broadway — great shop!). They actually commented on how bad of a job the last person who worked on the bike had done. They were careful about saying that as they assumed it was me that had done the work, but when I told them it was WRC, they laughed and said it didn’t surprise them.
In short, WRC doesn’t care about keeping customers. All they care about is your money, and once you’ve bought a bike there, they could care less about any issues you may have with it. There is no friendliness and neighborliness at WRC like I like to see from my LBS. There is abundant arrogance and attitude though, so if you’re into those things, be my guest. I’ll stick to the guys who know what they’re doing and that don’t talk to me like I’m an idiot.

I’ve visited WRC several times over the past year to «tire kick» and fully expected that when I was seriously ready to buy a new bike, it would probably be from them. Recently, on a slow weekday afternoon (I wouldn’t even think about going on a weekend) I went in with the intention of getting some serious assistance on picking the right bike.
There were not any other customers in the store as far as I could tell and after several minutes of standing around while employees just walked past me, not even making eye contact I finally asked a guy behind the counter if I could get some help. «Oh sure — how can I help you,» he replied. I told him that I was interested in a new bike and waited for him to start asking me questions about what type of riding I did, how far and how often, what type of riding surface, budget (!), etc. He didn’t seem to interested in asking me any of these questions so I pretty much volunteered the information so that he could actually provide me with some options.
After about ten minutes of, well this bike could work for you… he told me about the $ 200 service where they would basically custom fit me to a bike and make all the necessary changes to the bike to make if the best fit for me — the $ 200 doesn’t include the parts needed. Excuse me, if I’m spending $ 1,200+ for a bike, should’t I get some customization as part of the deal?
It was obvious to me that this guy didn’t give a hoot about selling me a bike. He never even introduced himself. I finally had to ask for his card just to find out what his name was. After leaving, I sat in my car for shaking my head in disbelief at the crappy experience that I’d just had.
I threw his card away.

Stopped by last night for a simple helmet adjustment, and to ask about new models.
For the straps, they told me this could not be done because the straps were incomplete, they were too short, and the helmet’s design made it impossible to do in the first place.
Turns out none of this was true. But the boss man tried to sell me a new helmet anyway.
For the question, about a road helmet with a faceguard that’s sold in Europe, he then tried to sell me a downhill helmet with full facemask.
«Wow! Sounds pretty heavy, for a road helmet.»
«It’s about like a motorcycle helmet.»
«Would you ever wear one?»
«No.»
Conclusion: these people will try to sell you anything. Anything. And they will lie to do it.

It is so rare today for a bike shop to consistently under promise,…and OVER perform. Wheat Ridge Cyclery has been doing this for years. Their service writers don’t oversell you on products or service. I’ve happily used them for years even though I live 50 minutes away. Great job!

Not impressed. My boss (who is an avid, alp riding, cyclist) recommended this place to me even though I was searching for a commuter bike. From their website I thought it would be a great fit so I made the trek from downtown.
I was so wrong. After several attempts to flag a sales person down I finally got someone’s attention just long enough for her to say she was busy. The thing that ticked me off was that I could see several staff just hanging around chitchatting.
I eventually figured out they would have no suitable commuter bikes for my petite frame, and in my price range. When I asked if they sold used bikes they actually laughed at me.
Unless you are going to drop serious cash for your race bike, this place is NOT for the casual rider.

Imagine 3 to 4 mechanics standing around apparently doing nothing 30 minutes before closing. I walked in holding a rim and a new hub and ask to have measurements made so that I can order new spokes. I’m then told that this is a complicated process and that I can pick my stuff tomorrow if I leave them at the shop. In reality these measurements take minutes to make. They obviously took me for a spandex loving weekend warrior that has more money than good sense and is mostly ignorant of bicycle mechanics. So I then drove down the road a few miles to another bike shop that I had not yet been to (Salvagetti) that took a few minutes, measured everything and cut the spokes for me on the spot in less than a half an hour. I’m sorry that I ever spent any money at Wheat Ridge Cyclery and I’ll never be back.

WRC doesn’t disappoint. After having my bike stolen, i went there to get another, after my great experience the first time. Again, fantastic service and great pricing.
A couple days ago i clipped a car door on my way to work. I dropped into the store for an adjustment to my drivetrain, and in less than 20 minutes i was riding again. But wait! That’s not all! They cleaned up my drivetrain and aired up my tires while they were at it.
That’s the way these guys roll: always doing you one better. Top-​notch bike store and staff!

I’ve been wanting to purchase a new bike for a few years and when gas prices started to skyrocket over the last few months, I knew it was finally time to put my money where my intentions were.
I came to WRC on the recommendation of Julio T. When it comes to a bike shop, I can’t think of a better endorsement! As Lisa H and I walked in, we were impressed with the selection of bicycles as well as all of the other necessities that comes with cycling: helmets, locks, apparel, books, etc.
I’m pretty clueless when it comes to bicycles these days, so I meandered about for a few minutes, ooo-​ing and aah-​ing at all of the pretty bikes that were, without question, out of my price range. The day we stopped in, WRC was pretty busy. So it took several minutes before I was able to snag the attention of an associate. I explained what I needed in a bike (ability to commute a few miles, but also take off-​road) and my price range. We narrowed my need down to a simple mountain bike. Adam, the WRC staff member who was helping me, pointed out a bike in my price range and explained how it would suit my needs.
I took said bike out for a test ride and loved it! After deciding I would be taking this bike home, Adam helped me pick out a helmet and a U lock.
WRC is certainly farther away than I would like, but it came with great reviews and recommendations. I’m pleased with my purchases and certainly would recommend a visit if you’re currently shopping for a bike.
