Wheat Ridge Used Furniture

I have bought and sold furniture at Wheatridge Used Furniture and have verbally recommended it to others – even took a friend along recently when I stopped by. Referencing another reviewer, I’ve never seen a woman helping in the shop and I’ve never been pressured at all. The staff, the quality of the pieces, and the fairness of prices keep me coming back to look for pieces as we change out our furniture. I’m also a bit surprised about the references to Grandma furniture in the house – some of those pieces are just too big for the shop – well worth taking a look.

Bought an oak table and chairs here about a year ago. Beautiful piece, exceptional quality! It was a little bit of a stretch for my budget at the time, but I love the table. It was worth every penny! The table pulls apart to accommodate a leaf. It actually has a crank and little gears inside to open up the table. This fascinates me! I guess I’ve always had the cheap table that you have to man handle to pull apart to fit the leaf in! Guys that delivered the furniture ended up walking through the snow to bring it to another door because the table wouldn’t fit through the sliding door. They smiled the whole time! I will continue to rave about this place! Definitely worth checking out!

The sales people in here are what blow me away. I’ve worked with the owner (?) and a younger guy and both are great. Initially I went in looking for a bedroom set. They had one that I liked but I wasn’t quite ready to bite the bullet. After more searching I realized how in love I was and to my amazement it was still there and not only was I able to strike a good deal in terms of price and delivery, they also changed the hardware on the mirror so I could hang it horizontally instead of vertically. I’ve never felt pressured to purchase anything and the selection is constantly changing. When I go back in to browse they remember me and the styles that I like. Overall prices are mid range for used furniture but the pieces are quality and worth it.

We stopped by here yesterday. The store is full of many kinds of furniture. The aisles are a little small. They have a ton of stuff crammed in here. I found a few pieces (like a china cabinet) I would have loved to buy, if I had a few hundred dollars to spend. The staff is nice and not pushy.

Smörgåsbord selection of used furniture. Some old enough to be considered antiques, some more modern pieces. No real theme other than ‘used’. They generally do a good job of trying to display solid wood and metal pieces — very little of the pressboard cheapies that you will find at some other used furniture stores. They use the house next door to store some of the pieces they seem to think won’t move as quickly.
Found a 60’s table that I loved here a few weeks ago. The problem? It was more than I wanted to pay (it had some scratches and smelled like an ashtray) and I didn’t want the chairs they were selling with it (it was sold as a set). I found one of the sales people and made an offer and he said they would call me if the owner was interested. No calls. I stop by a couple of weeks later and my table is still there. I make another offer — this time they take me up on it as long as I transport the piece myself. Deal!
My advice: if you like something, make a fair offer and prepare to be persistent.

Reading other reviewers comments, I am somewhat inclined to agree about high prices, but only to a certain degree.
There are many used furniture and consignment stores out there with comparable prices, but with lesser quality items. On my recent visit there, I found their stock (in the main shop) to be in very good condition, and also good quality. I did feel that some things were on the pricier side, but I did find quite a few items that were a great bargain.
Another reviewer mentioned the house full of «grandma furniture», and that description is extremely accurate. Some of that stuff likely was in God’s house when he was a baby. :-)
Anyway, I purchased a set of wingback chairs for an extremely reasonable price. They appear nearly brand new, they are a well known brand, and when I priced out the same style for the same manufacturer, I am paying 60−75% less than if I were to buy them new.
One other thing… regarding high pressure sales. It may have been a different style by a different sales person, but the gentleman that was there when I visited offered to answer any questions, told us about the furniture next door, and disappeared to the other side of the store. No pressure at all.
Overall, I would recommend this store on the «short list» of places to go. You are likely going to find a better cared for piece here than at other places.

This place has a lot of variety, but it is pricey for used furniture and a little on the high pressure end of sales.
So, there is a store full of furniture, some choice pieces on display out front and a house next door that is completely full of furniture as well. So, as far as selection/​variety, it’s great.
What was not so cool was I was found by a sales lady about a minute after entering who asked what I was looking for. I mentioned I was casually looking for a buffet for my dining room that I wanted to paint. She showed me one large buffet, but told me I wasn’t going to be allowed to paint it (???) and then next door to see a couple more pieces. She basically never left my side and said regularly how other people came in and looked and went home to think and when they came back the piece was gone (pressure anyone?). I was told that the piece I was interested in would go fast. So, without thinking too much, I whipped out my wallet and paid over $ 275 for a used buffet.
I was full of buyers remorse when I got home. And, my receipt was a bit ambiguous about refunds (it only said that layaway sales were final). But, once I got it inside, it was a good fit, so I pretend that it was a better deal than it was.
On the plus side, its only $ 20 for delivery per piece of furniture (most of their furniture will not fit in your car).
