Amani African Hair Braiding

THIS PLACE IS THE WORST!!! Before I begin I would like to say if you try to make an appointment with this place don’t even bother. Being if someone just walks in during your appointment time without an appointment they will see him or her before seeing you (that’s even if you are on time). Also when they answer the phone and they take down your information to hold the slot, they aren’t actually writing anything down to reserve that time for you. It’s still open to whoever shows up. Also it takes them about an hour before they actually begin doing your hair. I came in to receive curly micro braids, like I have in the past. They were more curly than usual but the stylist kept complaining (she was a short, soft spoken African American women with natural curly hair) and she kept stopping to tell the other stylists how annoyed she was to do my hair. I would have been okay with it if she would have offered another style or another type of hair, but instead she continued to complain for another hour or two. Finally after the fifth hour she went to the stylist across from her and begged her to switch clients with her so she would no longer have to do my hair. That was no problem, but here I thought that I was more than half way done but she only got the ¹⁄₃ of the top of my head done. So the other hair stylist (who had a wavy weave) was the one to finish my hair after 2 other stylists quit on me. One client said out loud to me is she taking out your braids or putting them in I can’t tell!!! She continued to say that my hair looked like what hers looked like after she took out her braids the night before! After nine hours of sitting in the chair my hair was finally complete. When I looked into the mirror, I instantly was mortified and left. When I got in my car, I couldn’t stop myself from crying. It looked horrible!!!
PLEASE IF YOU CONSIDER GETTING YOUR HAIR BRAIDED STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! They are unprofessional and they don’t help make better hair decisions. If anyone knows a great place for me to get my micro braids redone, please help a sista out!!!

Such a nice group of ladies at this braiding shop. They were friendly and pleasant. Prices are about average — pretty much what you’d find at any other braiding shop in the area. I got box braids and was satisfied. Another shop in the area flaked out on me so I was happy that Amani would take me the same day. I would definitely return.

I have been going to Amani for YEARS now and I have to say, the bottom line is that these women do good work! Yes they speak french, yes they are busy… but the bottom line is I have YET to find a braiding salon in Waldorf that does such good WORK. Ask for Ms. Julie and tell her Angie sent you!!!
I forgot to add, I went to another braiding salon thinking I would try someplace new and the woman completely BUTCHERED my hair. I called Amani the same day and asked if they could fix it and they accommodated me. i will never EVER go to another salon in Charles County!
