I stopped in tonight, to grab a couple of bottle for my wife. The store is very nice and the employees were just as professional. They were not Wine Snobs and I got to taste a couple of delicious reds. First time in there. Not bad at all.

I recently subscribed to Grapes email offers and placed my first order yesterday with Daniel Posner, the owner. Today I called him to add an additional 6 bottles to the case that I ordered yesteday and one of his employees picked up. When I asked to speak to Daniel directly he informed me that Daniel was on the other line and would pick up shortly. A minute later the employee told me Daniel was now gone and left for a week vacation. Really? Who would do buisiness with this company if they don’t even want new business and don’t have the decency to get on the phone. The employee was clearly not smart enough to offer his help soI instructed the employee to cancel my order from yesterday since it wasnt going to be shipped for a week or so and he assured me that Daniel would get the messgae to not charge my card and cancel the order. He then tolld me I was’t even in the system even though I spent 15 minutes on the phone with Daniel yesterday giving him all my contact information and credit card information for future orders. What a stupid busiess man since I am a ferquent shopper and I shared that with Daniel as well. I immediately unsuscribed so I would not receive any more annoying email offers in the future. I would not spend a dime with this company. Horrible custumer experience.

Grapes has one of the worst customer experiences of all my years trying different wine stores or liquor company’s. The«owner» was an imbecile and rude as he must feel that he is better then the customer. Which he clearly is not, I’m surprised he has lasted in business this long. His employees must see and feel the same way as they whisper to get his attention. A miserable man at best, why would I EVER purchase ANYTHING from a man who was short with us as consumers and was too busy filing papers to answer a question. Good luck getting helped and treated nicely at the joke of a Grapes Wine Company. Thank you Daniel for this horrible experience.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a Unilocal review, but I need to share a wine experience gone sour at Grapes. They do a lot of things right. The prices are fair, they deliver to NYC for free, and their daily emails offer a bit of amusement. Their selection is good, especially in Italians. But their return policy makes all these factors null when you get a bottle of bad wine, or two in our case. After dropping a fair amount on what was supposed to be 97-pointer, we found a ‘wine of the year’ to a poor excuse for grape juice. Cooked, corked, whatever the word, it was just bad. Yet, after sending the wines back, Grapes tasted them, deemed both good enough, argued about wine terminology, disposed of both bottles, then refused to reissue the full credit. Big disappointment, and major red flag for a wine retailer. Sad. as we were looking forward to trying out the wine, but will have to look elsewhere.

I first discovered Grapes when they were in Rye. The new White Plains location is beautiful. The staff is helpful. The selection reads out of Wine Spectator. Lots of good California wines which I was never able to find in New York or Scarsdale. Prices seem to be reasonable for a boutique.

I will be transparent like Rick. I also used a Groupon — however I am happy I did. I didn’t know about this store. I thought the only«wine» stores were Vino 100 and Westchester Wine Warehouse(not counting all the small liquor stores) The prices were really reasonable. They have wines ranging from $ 7.99-over $ 250 a bottle. And they are not the run of the mill wines. I got a handcrafted white wine with only 20,000 bottles made for $ 8.99. The selection is really amazing. They have something for everyone. Also they really helped me to find a wine that fit my taste profile. They were incredibly knowledgable. I would really recommend this store.

I just want to write this to be the first– I used a Groupon here today. It was cute, with a lot of little cubicles of wine. They seemed to know a lot about wine and have a lot of good wines. I’m enjoying a glass now! Give this place a try.
