Morgan did the flowers for my wedding and I can’t tell you how happy I was with the result! They were stunning and she really listened to what I wanted and made it happen. I would highly recommend the company!

Yeah so it was a Thursday in February and the slush was like peanut butter and it was soaking through my $ 3.50 kmart nylon socks. I was leaving the court house with a heavy heart and a lighter wallet and deepening disregard for the justice system. Grey, the town was grey and salt washed like the boardwalk of some post-soviet shit hole. White River Junction, Vermont awash with the crust and exhaust of a Jack Frost hangover, the raw sobriety of a three month bender. There ain’t no color this time of year. The mush blends into the grey bark of trees, matching the pale bureaucracy of shiftlessness of anonymous structures. Their windows dark like the eyes of a taxidermied python, matted and unreflective. The entire scene awash in the kind of blanketed absence of the heat, the warmth and zeal of Ra’s most awesome power. The sun had not shined in 18 weeks. Some type of human, a resident of this small hamlet shuffled along the corner, sex unrecognizable amidst the abundant layers of fleece, wool and down. Male or female, none matter. There was no affect, nor reason for it. I crossed the street and toward the under ground dwelling of Than Wheelers, a purported wateringhole, for my soul needed the waterin’. The burn of the 4 degree door handle nearly sizzled against what remaining heat my hand still had. The door was locked. The sign said closed. The light was off. If you can’t sell booze in Vermont in February, than you might want to reconsider your business plan. I moved forward. Thirsty, cold. Around concrete pillars, bucolic facades. Dead wreaths, wind tossed fast food lids. I walked down alley ways. My mind was brittle, lips chapped, ears red and cracked. Down like 12 rounds in the ring with Rocky Marciano. I’m done. Send in the forensic unit and put the case together. Motive — died of a broken heart. I slumped beside a dumpster and let the breath seep out. I tasted the frost gathering on my lips. But then. It was like bells. Like static on a tv growing louder. With chimes in harmony. Softly dancing against the grain. The wind gust. I opened my eyes. I blinked. Color. A blue. Blueish purple. Periwinkle? Another, a shade of pink. Like a department store full of Barbies. Then. .. another, bright red. Orange. Fuchsia. Violet. Crimson. Goldenrod. Aquamarine. All in little pages. Fluttering postage stamps from a mail truck car accident? No. They came from a corner flower shop. The sign said the Valley Flower Company. Someone had left a pile of flower pedals on the front steps. The pedals blew down the street and collected around my legs. Insulating me from the harsh realities of the season. Color, yes, color, is a thing. Like an airborne vaccine, the unknowing staff of this small shop was washing the grime from the streets and the dust from my mind. I climbed to my legs. I felt steady. I thought about the summer. The shandy. The bath of solar. That’ll come. I thought about hot asphalt and lawn chairs. Neighbors burning burgers and sweaty cut grass. The winter ain’t forever. Ain’t nothing forever. Also, parking can kind of be a pain, but I’ve usually found a spot.

We wanted to find a local florist to send some sympathy flowers today. It was last minute and didn’t know if it would happen before Monday. Upon calling I spoke with Emily. She was very kind and personable on the phone. I gave very little direction other than saying something heart felt and wonderful. I called around noon and they were closing at 3 but was not an issue for her delivering them. My brother and sister in-law texted us when they received them WOW! You rock Emily! Thank you very much… I highly recommend this company.

I had called the shop at 5:45 to ask what time they closed. The woman told me 6. I was only a few minutes away so I drove over and got there at 5:50 and the closed sign was already up. I tried knocking on the door but nobody was there. Very disappointing! The woman on the phone said nothing about the shop closing early. Please do better than this!

I used to be a flower-hater. It’s taken awhile, but I’ve slowly warmed up to them and this store has turned me around to even appreciating them. This is unlike your typical grocery store florist. It’s not even like the florist where I got my wedding flowers from. It smells so beautiful and the flowers inside are unique — you just know they go out of their way to find the most interesting pieces and you can’t go wrong regardless how you pick them. I sometimes find myself, on a busy day at work, wandering outside and stopping by this flower shop for a little un-caffeinated pick-me-up for my desk.

Although I’ve spent countless summers in New Hampshire and my granddad had a tire store years ago in WRJ, I now live in Arizona. My mother and father, however, are in Hanover. I found VFC online and I saw some beautiful arrangements on their blog. I was looking for lovely, meadow flowers in a sophisticated but unfussy presentation. For my parent’s 59th anniversary, I wanted the flowers that I remember from driving up Route 5 in my youth and from my other grandfathers abundant garden: Queen Anne’s Lace, BeeBalm, Phlox, Sweet Peas. Morgan was full of excitement and ideas and a joy to encounter. She did flowers for both my brother and I [we had, somewhat serendipidously called unknowingly within 5 minutes of each other!] — both lovely and just SO. Perfect. Wonderful to find such a special florist and a kind person. I could not have been happier.”

Morgan and her team at the Valley Flower Company designed the flowers for my wedding in July 2009. I was thrilled with the results. Not only was the look chic and elegant, but the flowers were affordable, traveled well, and held up even better in the hot July sun. This is no small town NH/VT floral shop, Morgan’s designs rival of the high end designs I’ve seen out of Boston shops like Winston’s. I wish I lived closer, I’d order flowers all the time!

You can’t find a better florist in Vermont. Morgan is creative, communicative and oh so inspired. She put together FABULOUS arrangements for my wedding and had awesome suggestions for displays. When my mom was upset I wasn’t going to ask her to do a mock up and send me a photo(we’re from TN, but the wedding was in VT), I took mom to her blog and she said, «Holy cow. You’re right! I trust her too.» Her prices were very reasonable and she even threw in an orchid to save my hair at the last minute. She was hands-down my number one vendor for my wedding and I still follow the shop on Facebook.

Morgan at Valley Flower Company is terrific. We hired her as our wedding florist and she did not disappoint. From beautiful centerpieces to a gorgeous bouquet to a stunning chuppah, everything was fabulous. She’s creative and fun to work with, and her prices are totally reasonable. She also put together flowers for my fiancé’s mother to use at a memorial service, and they were absolutely lovely. I’m just sorry we don’t live in New England anymore so I can’t hire her more often!
