Bostonian Barber Shop

Best haircut I’ve ever gotten and it was affordable. I came in a bit late with a line and they still took me and didn’t rush my haircut even though it was past closing time. Thanks again.

I’m big fan of this barbershop setting. Not cramped, comfortable chairs while you wait, and flat screen Tvs
Barber was really good and it’s one of the best hair cuts I’ve received in months. He took his time, checked multiple times to make sure everything was even, and gave me multiple chances to provide feedback (even though he pretty much nailed it on the first attempt anyway)
I would come back anytime I’m in town.

I want to like this shop. The atmosphere is great, but if you don’t get a decent, quality haircut atmosphere means nothing. I have gone to a few of the different barbers they have and have had in the past. I waited approximately 2 ½ mos. to grow my hair back from the last experience I had. The previous barber I went to there is no longer at the shop. I would have gone to my normal barber shop, but due to some famiy events I elected to give this shop another shot. I told the barber I wanted a low fade with just a little bit of a trim on top. I explained that I had two family events over the next two days so «less is more». What I got, was an extremely high fade (practically the top of my head) and a choppy, uneven cut on top. I gave it a few days for the hair to settle, but over a week in now and it looks ridiculous. Nevermind the fact that I got charged for a particular cut I didn’t request. I think I will be heading back to my normal shop after this experience.

I was in desperate need for a haircut after the snow storm and I stumbled in to this place. I did not know what to expect when I came in and I was blown away. A young kid named Ryan cut my hair and did a great job. My normal barber leaves it to long and messy he gave me a nice clean precise haircut. What won me over was the hot shave and the ears and eye brows being cleaned. Very good shop. Ryan and the shop won me over, I am now a proud Bostonian.

I am a barber myself in middleboro MA, so I don’t usually find myself at the bostonian barber shop for cuts but take it from an industry professional:
Bostonian Barber Shop creates an atmosphere, look, and image that all shops should strive for. The building is beautiful the shop is clean and it everything you could look for in a modern shop. New school flair with an old school vibe.
As far the barbers themselves, at certain points I trained and worked alongside Kayla, Matt and John while Pedro is a staple in the south Shore barbering game. They’re all phenomenal barbers and stylists and their work more than speaks for itself.
Their Web presence and marketing is second to none and they will only grow.
There is no need for bostonian to set up appointments. The modern barbershop has mostly outgrown the appointment model. Barbers can’t depend their day around appointment blocking because if cancellations occur, the day can easily be compromised. A walk in service takes the pressure off of you the customer! I’m sure they more than welcome you to wait for your favorite barber effectively defeating the purpose of appointments.
This is a one stop shop for haircuts, shaves, and a variety of hair and beard products (some of them made in house) a truly impressive establishment that you shouldn’t think twice about making your go to spot if you live in whitman or the surrounding areas.

It’s hard to give a rating to a barbershop or salon because you really aren’t visiting the shop but the stylist or barber who you trust with your hair. In the case of Bostonian, there are a couple of barbers there who have proven they can patiently and expertly cut my hair (which is thick, wavy, and full of cowlicks), but there are also a couple of others who’ve provided me an inconsistent or, frankly, kind of rushed job.
I just moved to Massachusetts a few months back, and I’ve been in the process of trying to find a barber who can navigate my hair and provide a consistent and quality cut. I believe that I’ve found that with both Pedro and Derek at Bostonian. When both of them have cut my hair, I’ve been really impressed with the attention to detail and the careful precision with which they trim and style. I’ve really felt like they weren’t going to let me out of the chair until they were satisfied with everything, even the aspects I might not notice.
I haven’t had this experience with a couple of the other barbers, and normally this wouldn’t be a problem because I just wouldn’t go back to them. (It’s not even necessarily that they’re bad at cutting hair, but they just aren’t a good fit with my hair.) The problem is that the Bostonian doesn’t allow you to make appointments with a specific barber, and all haircuts are walk-​in only. This is compounded by the fact that I never know when the barber (s) I like will be working, which means it’s all luck of the draw if I’m going to head there on a day when someone I trust will be cutting my hair.
This is really my only complaint about the shop, but it’s a fairly significant one. I’m almost to the point where I may start looking elsewhere if just for the possibility of finding a steady and consistent barber who knows my hair and my tastes. I’ve actually visited the Bostonian a couple of times and walked out because I didn’t want to take a chance with an unknown person. When I’m taking time out of my day for a haircut (which I also find relaxing and enjoyable), I’d like to know that I’m heading there for a known person rather than the luck of the draw.
Please find a way to set up an appointment system, Bostonian! I think you’ll find that you’ll not only get more customers, but you’ll really help to build a loyal customer base. Once I find a barber I trust, I’m willing drive up to an hour to have them cut my hair. Please give me a reason to stay!

I was home from Orlando for a few days and desperately needed a haircut. I had read about this place opening online and thought I would give it a shot. It was a phenomenal decision. The shop was pristine, very clean and still has the new building smell. I love the refurbed barber chairs, the bumper pool table and the TVs set to something other than daytime dramas. There wasn’t a wait when I arrived, but all three chairs were taken, so I had a few minutes to kill. My barber was fantastic, really friendly and did a great job. I haven’t had so many compliments on a haircut before. The conversation was about sports, the news, nothing too personal which I appreciate. They had great background music playing. The price wasn’t terrible, $ 17 for a haircut, $ 30 for a professional shave and a cut. I would recommend this place over anywhere else in town, you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been looking for a good barber shop around the area for a while now and going to Whitman-​Hanson word spreads fast. I decided to give it a shot and it was hands down the best haircut I’ve ever had. Matt cut my hair and was very informative and have me the exact haircut I asked for. I would recommend if you need a place to go to give them a shot and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Great atmosphere. The owner and his employees are passionate about what they do. One of the few barber shops in the South Shore that does «Gentleman’s cuts», which is a trending style. The chairs look really nice!

I’ve moved back up to the new england area a few months ago and made some friends around the south shore area while attending school here beforehand. Being from DC we do not really have many shops like this, more hair cuttery or supercuts down there which makes it hard to get a good trim or gentlemen’s cut. Seeing the progress on the shop and talking to friends about it opening made me more eager to get a cut. The space inside is huge which is awesome, but think a pinball machine or something retro would be cool to pass some time, or like an N64. The atmosphere is great as well, mostly because the owner and the barbers at the shop are very passionate about what they do which definitely makes it a friendly environment.
The prices are very reasonable as well and not expensive as other places, so I would recommend that everybody in the area or just visiting should stop by and get a cut.

This little shop has been on my radar for a week now on local social media clicks that I’m part of. It’s a rarity that I get a Saturday off. What better way to spend it than to get my hair cut?
As a male that likes to keep my fingernails short, hair trimmed and face clean shaven, a true barber shop screams at me to get my attention, and one that does strait shaves calls my name even louder.
Enter: Bostonian Barber Shop, located in an old shoe factory in Whitman, MA. The shop has been built by hand by the owner, Erik. As soon as you walk in, in addition to being greeted by a friendly face, you’re also smacked with the air of a shop destined to bring you to a time when men were real men.
Everyone in the shop embodies what I expect in a staff of barbers: Clean cut, shaven and groomed. I may be in the minority, but whenever I’ve been to a barbershop and the person lowering my ears is not clean shaven and they’re hair isn’t maintained, I subliminally question the quality of their work, and find myself excessively scrutinizing the end result.
I walked in and proudly told the lady behind the front counter that wasn’t busying herself with an iPhone or electronic device that I was there for a cut. I mention this because when I visited the shop, there was a person getting their hair cut, and 3 or 4 other people in the shop, all talking to each other. Not one of them staring at their phone. So refreshing to walk into a business where technology isn’t ruining the most basic form of human interaction.
She sat me with a young lady who was friendly, but in a different kind of way. You know the friendliness and small talk you can have anywhere, but the same small talk is awkward when you’re having your hair cut simply because there isn’t anything else to do? I usually am quick to find that awkwardness because I’m someone that wants to shut up, get my hair cut and leave. But what the blazes, this woman was chit chatting about things in Whitman, and for some reason my guard didn’t pop up to shut me up! My experience in this chair was pleasant! I wish I’d have asked her name for this review, but she’s a young girl with black hair and a sleeve of tattoos on her arms (By the way, I’m a fan of tattooed professionals dispelling the stereotypes that the mainstream has towards ink).
I went to the shop for a high and tight, and got one. This is a tricky one for many barbers because the high and tight can mean so many things to so many people. But here, it means exactly what I’ve grown to love about high and tights. Close shave to the skin around the head and a high fade beginning to the crown of the head. The only improvement that could have been done would be to use a foil bladed shaver to bring the sides to the skin, but I didn’t see one of those anywhere in the shop. The entire cut was done with multiple blades on an Oster 76.
For those that style with pomades and stuff to make your hair shine, the shop seems more than prepared to cater to you.
The prices are very reasonable and range from $ 12 – 19 for cuts (If I recall correctly) based on the detail involved. The board mentioned a «Gentleman’s Cut» to which I can only speculate is for people that have the ability to grow gobs of thick hair that can be styled (I envy you all, by the way).
Unfortunately I had shaved my face this morning so I didn’t have the opportunity of having a strait shave. When I return in 2 weeks, I will update my experience on this review. Oh, and I’ll definitely be bringing my sons here.
Bottom line, get here. ASAP.
