I like this place! They sit right across the road from the lake, and the view is really pretty. They have a nice deck, but so far I haven’t sat out there. Maybe next summer. They went thru a spell a few years ago when the food wasn’t so great, but In my opinion that has been sorted out. I really enjoy the burgers here, as well as the fish and chips. You get a really nice portion for your money. The only downside I can see about the place(and it’s just me), Thursday is a tough evening to go here, since it is also karaōke night, and is apparently very popular with the older crowd. It’s hard to get a seat and enjoy a leisure meal, while the karaōke host and hostess are busy scurrying around to set up their equipment near and or under the table you are sitting at. If I were there for dinner before a night of karaōke I wouldn’t care. It’s just a little bothersome But I’ll bet any other day of the week is just great.

Really really good. The tavern burger is a great meal. I get the fish and chips all the time it’s awesome. Nice view of the lake. Good spot for beer during the ice hockey classic. It is a dive bar but the menu is huge and the food is really good.

Was boating all day and came here to get a bite to eat. The beer was cold, the pizza was very good and I am a pizza snob. It was good! It is exactly what you want right off of a lake.

This is a rustic places with a view of Whitmore Lake. This is also the type of place where you pick up the menu and immediately know the best thing is probably the perch sandwich and not the Thai salad. We all got the perch sandwiches which were very good and large. Service was friendly and food arrived quickly.

The food is good overall, but can be hit or miss, depending on what you get. I like the Coconut Shrimp, the Jambalaya, and the Quesadillas and Burritos(they do put coney chili on it, just fyi). I did not care for the Ribs or Pasta I ordered(the ribs were baked & the pasta was bland). The service was good as well. I would go back for the good items.

My opinion is, if you’re in Whitmore lake, Brown bag it. Don’t waste your money here. Ordered a chicken Mexican dish and apparently the«cook» put a spin on it. The(once packaged and frozen) burritos were served with French fries and the whole plate was smothered in canned hot dog chilli sauce. Hmmm… I don’t eat beef! That’s why I ordered chicken! And, why would anyone want hot dog chilli on a burrito? I would’ve been more satisfied with a bowl of cornflakes. Come on people!

Passing through the area. Picked up a couple of pizzas to go. Looked & tasted like the were using the cheapest ingredients that they could get their hands on. I’ve had better frozen pizza. Sucked. Bad. Nasty.

We visit the Tavern on a regular basis. The food is good and the service is nice as well. I think we have visited for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have had very good meals for all. Our current favorite is the Perfect Pizza with a pitcher of Oberon. Can’t beat a large pizza and a pitcher of beer for $ 25. During the summer months the patio area is very nice to enjoy a few beers and catch some rays. The view of the lake isn’t fantastic as you are across the road but you can still see boaters out there so the lakeside vibe is still there. We moved to Whitmore Lake this past winter and have definitely seen a big jump in business since the weather warmed up. Don’t be surprised if you visit in the winter and you’re the only group in the place. In comparison to the other local options the Whitmore Lake Tavern is our«go to» choice.

Waitress asked if we were ready for our bill twice… before we’d even gotten our food. Seemed annoyed when I asked for milk or cream with my coffee and forgot our water twice. Food is mediocre, the hashbrowns are inedible. They’re slathered with butter to the point of being gross. Its convenient to get to but overall, for that kind of service you’re better off going to the Coney down the street.

Honestly, we order out from here at least once a week; their salads are ALWAYS so fresh(*cough* unlike Captain Joe’s *cough*). I don’t remember ever ordering anything here and being disappointed. It’s not 5-star holy amazingness; but it’s definitely the best place to eat if you’re in Whitmore Lake.

I love coming to the Whitmore Lake Tavern every time I am in town. Great Pizza and the best potato skins you have ever had. The patio is nice on a hot summer day to have a few beers while enjoying the view. Friendly staff and great owners.

Great walleye, nice atmosphere. Will say that food is inconsistent. Sometimes fish and chips are great others not so much. Great place in summer have a beer none the less.

I love this place. I’ve lived in the area for 14 years and this is «our Cheers». Very nice and friendly owners & staff. Fantastic view over looking the lake. We enjoy watching the sailboats in the summer time and ice fishing in the winter. On one wall they have pictures of all the iconic rock musicians. Just a great, very casual, nothing fancy fun place. When we have out of town guests, they ALWAYS want to return the«The Tavern» for some of the greatest pizza in the world. Good stuff. The menu is what you would expect. Burgers, sandwiches, dinners, it’s all good. They added a deck a few years ago.

Ordered the jalapeño catfish and thought it was great. My side was squash which also tasted wonderful. Only complaint was too much liquid on the squash which ran all over the plate and made the fish breaking soggy. Easily rectified by tilting the plate but, certainly something that could be improved. Always a good time here.

We had a random explore Michigan kind of afternoon and wound up at beautiful and large Whitmore Lake. The Tavern looks quite divey from the outside, and kind of lives up to that look on the inside, but I really enjoyed myself! They have great prices on drinks– $ 8 for a pitcher of Bud Light and had a ½ apps deal going since there was a football game on. We took advantage of the deal and ordered spinach and artichoke dip and it was really impressive. It came with tri-colored tortilla chips that were super tasty and the serving size of the dip was insanely huge. And very very yummy! Our burgers were thoroughly average. I wish we hadn’t gotten them«deluxe»(+cole slaw and fries) because the dip was more than enough food! The fries are the crinkle cut ones that I don’t like so I ate about 3 of them, thus demonstrating a rare feat of not eating every single thing on my plate :) The view is beautiful, the drinks are cheap, and the apps were half off. What’s not to like? :)

Having fled from nearby Zukey Lake Tavern after a terrible experience I had really low expectations and still needed to eat. My goal was outside grub and a view of water. Already in a sour mood the outside appearance of the tavern didn’t really fill me with too much hope. I was wonderfully surprised however. The inside isn’t divey but not really fancy either. The outdoor deck isn’t much bigger than what some homes might have, but it makes for a more intimate experience with better views of the lake. Far better IMHO than the Costco on a roof next to a lake vibe at Zukey anyways. My mood took a great jump up when I ordered a great on tap 22 oz beer at a decent price and my friend ordered a delicious bloody Mary. Two great drinks at decent prices had already exponentially bested the experience I had jest fled from. I ordered a Polish sausage special and my friend got a fish dinner. First off they were happy to substitute the soup that came with the meal for a dinner salad. A simple matter but it’s nice when a place doesn’t act like you asked for a side of filet mignon instead of fries when you ask for a simple lateral substitution. My meal was excellent, seriously the most happy I’ve been with a meal in ages. There was a very healthy portion of sausage and it was cooked to perfection with the edges all crispy. It was accompanied by a terrific red skin potato salad that was obviously homemade. The really excellent final touch of this meal was the bowl of fresh fruit that accompanied it, the perfect thing to balance off the heavy sausage and potato salad. The fruit bowl had perfectly ripened strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew and blackberries. Who does this at a little bar on a lake? It was great and I wish I knew how to buy honeydew that sweet and delicious on my own! All this for $ 9. NINEBUCKS!!! A fantastic well balanced high quality meal for almost the same price as one pisspoor excuse of a drink at Zukey Lake Tavern(can you tell I am holding a grudge). My friends fish dinner was well prepared as well. This exactly scratched my itch for what I wanted to do. Eat some good food and drink at decent price outside and watch the lake, the people, and cars leisurely stroll by.
