I would give it 2 or 3, but the couple that runs this place works their damn tails off. The food is nothing special and portions are not big, but it’s amazingly cheap and homey. The couple that runs it reminds of me the American Dream… anything is possible with hard work !

I guess I’m a food snob. This is the last time I eat in a new place without consulting Unilocal. What an awkward moment when you realize that you have no choice, but to leave without eating the food. I had one bite of the eggs, four bites of home fries and some of my French toast. The bacon had zero flavor, maybe because it had zero meat. My real problem is that I generally only eat high quality food, mostly local and organic if possible. This food was of the lowest possible quality. It’s one of those things, like smokers don’t know how bad they smell. Back in the days when I ate fast food, you could throw a good meal in there and I would not realize that what I was eating everyday was not good, but coming at it from the other end, it is near impossible to want to insult my body with such low quality fuel. I am already feeling my health plummet. Real eggs are dark yellow when scrambled, healthy pigs have lower fat, so the bacon is mostly meat and maple syrup does not have corn syrup in it. This is only my opinion, because the local regulars that were also eating there seemed to like it fine.

Cozy, no nonsense joint. PLENTY of country décor, especially stuffed toy bears. I think we were there on an off day. Our server was a bit irritated, but that’s his problem.(It was quite busy when we arrived, nearly full capacity — including counter diners.) Several tables around us were lacking service or follow up service, so I’m thinking he was doing his best trying to fill in for someone else. We ordered breakfast. I was going to get hash and eggs. When I asked the server if it was home made hash, he curtly answered NO. Strike One. My wife had eggs, toast and home fries. She ordered a muffin for my daughter. I ordered sauage biscuits and gravy. At this point the place was less than half capacity. Orders came(eventually), you get a LOT of food for a little money! However, our food was luke warm(strike 2) and they warmed up the muffin for my daughter by cutting it in half and grilling it. It was almost burned. The server never checked back on us(or tables around us that ordered ahead of us). So we never had a chance to get anything fixed, drink refills, etc. Strike 3. If I’m invited I might go back there, but we will probably not return on our own.

Stopped in on my way back from Ithaca… not much to look at from the outside, but cozy, family atmosphere inside. staff were very polite and attentive… I ordered the breaded cauliflower which was excellent… and the hamburger platter, which was mounded with fries and a nice, juicy flavorful 6oz burger perfectly cooked. I’d stop at this Place again… too bad it’s so far from me. I’d become a regular.
