Oh my goodness, THIS is what good food is. Everything was unbelievably good. Be sure to order a bread basket — you will NOT be disappointed.

What a jewel in Williamsburg! Southern cooking at its best, and at a very affordable price too! Cornbread and hush puppies are sublime. Shrimp & grits are awesome, and the specials are always worth checking out. Hope the Norge location is just as good!

Great experience!!! Will be back again for the food and maybe Margaret(LOL) when in town. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken, Mashed and Collard Greens. The gravy was addicting requiring extra and the roll to polish out the side bowl of gravy; chicken awesome and cut with a fork and the greens… OMG. Wife had fried chicken… perfect. Others had brisket/sweet potato hash/fried okra; ribs/cucumbers/slaw; pulled pork; burger… excellent, excellent, excellent… Margaret explained their BBQ… I would call it half Texan/half KC. Tomato based but semi-sweet like KC and not real spicy. I am picky with BBQ with KC preference with more hot kick. I liked the brisket a lot but mild for me on ribs. BTW…I do not typically like okra, but really liked yours. Cornbread, biscuit and hushpuppies were awesome also. I hope to take you up on your breakfast before leaving as I am a sucker for the biscuits and gravy… If you read through the reviews, most nah sayers complain about the service. I cannot explain their experience but know from my family experience that being a server is not a black and white job and sometimes, things happen. I hope that Margaret gets a chance to read as your crazy orange guests really appreciated our experience. I did not tell you but my wife and sister-in-law were in your shoes previously and completely understand your concerns about other not so good reviews. It is tough to please everyone every time when so many things are out of your control(less room to stand and wait when cold outside; your cooks get out one tables food before another; understaffed due to less planned servers and a sudden rush; etc). Your ability to deal with our group(and maybe me) and a tired young man was great… Go and enjoy the food and maybe Margaret… Go with a group and try something different so you can sample each others and this was a great experience that I would recommend.

If you’re looking for the best breakfast experience in Williamsburg, look no further. From the delicious French toast to the garlic potatoes, there is not a single item on the menu that isn’t a culinary delight. A journey to Honey Butter’s begins with fingers crossed; seemingly without fail, there is at least a short wait, the restaurant’s popularity a testament to it’s consistent brilliance. Also, be forewarned: Honey Butters is closed Mondays. Once you get a table, you will presented with a menu from which to select breakfast options. Do not allow yourself to choose anything other than the French Toast Combo! The French Toast is a wonderfully crafted masterpiece. The Honey Butters’ chefs use a thick piece of baguette to ensure all of the delicious flavor from the French toast batter is soaked into the bread. You will not experience French Toast like this elsewhere. Complemented by your choice of meat and egg, the French Toast combo is part of your balanced breakfast. If the meat and egg sides do not appeal to you, try substituting in the garlic potatoes or the stone ground grits! The service is excellent. Even with the busy nature of the restaurant, servers are sure to check in with you several times during the meal. Not once has my coffee cup run dry! The food comes quickly and is delivered politely. Honey Butters is committed to the community, evidenced by its discount offered to William & Mary students. Honey Butters is a favorite to all; with its home town diner appeal, it is certain to be a family favorite. It has always been a Sunday morning tradition for us and we hope it provides your family with happy memories for years to come!

We really enjoyed our time here. Service was good. Garlic potatoes were delicious. Corn cakes and maple syrup wonderful. Delicious corn grits with cheddar made just right. Marbled toast pretty. Eggs were good too. An overall pleasant experience. We will be back.

AWFUL experience. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our food. The reuben sandwich was the worst I have ever eaten… poorly made corned beef, only partially cooked, and mostly fat. My wife felt instantly sick after eating her chicken fingers. This was a «3 strikes» experience for me. I will NEVER eat there again.

Awesome tunes, good food and friendly staff. Needed a late breakfast and this hit the spot. We had a half order of perfectly cooked French toast, egg sandwich and a basil omelette. Everything was simple and delicious. Ideal portion sizes too.

My experience began with being told we couldn’t wait inside the restaurant and we had to wait outside in the cold because there is NO waiting area. That can definitely start your meal off wrong. But we waited inside the doors(it was slightly warmer). Now for the service and and food: Our server was fabulous. I ordered the honey cakes with the chicken livers, it was DELICIOUS! Definitely gonna return hopefully it’s a warmer day!

Visited on a whim looking for a non chain restaurant. It doesn’t look very appealing from the outside but the inside was very nice. The staff members were very friendly, the food was good, the restaurant was very clean and the prices were very very very reasonable. We tried catfish, chicken fingers, Bologna & egg sandwich and garlic potatoes. If you are in the Williamsburg area definitely check it out!

Came here based on its Unilocal reviews, and it didn’t disappoint. The fried chicken livers are really good, as is the fried okra. It didn’t blow me away, but it was really good. My only regret is that we arrived too late for breakfast.

If you believe all breakfast are made the same, try HBK and you’ll fall back to liking breakfast. Breakfast and lunch is interesting in HBK so every time we are in Virginia, I will not skip a beat to eat in here again.

Mmmmm my sister and I went here for brunch on a weekend that she did a loooong training run and wanted to splurge(I did not run but helped her splurge… I know, I’m SUCH a good sister! haha). We ordered several items to split: a tater tot casserole that was on special, a chocolate chip and pecan pancake, and a monte cristo sandwich. The tater tot casserole was AWESOME! Crunchy tots, some kind of creamy oniony, garlicky sauce, then topped with cheese, sour cream, and bacon… what’s not to love? This came with eggs(which we got scrambled with cheese — pretty good for restaurant scrambled eggs and I am very picky) and garlic potatoes. We thought it was weird to have potatoes as a side for tater tot casserole… but they’re so good we didn’t care! The chocolate chip pecan pancake was HUGE and delicious! We topped it with butter and syrup and it was heavenly. The monte cristo sandwich was also very yummy and we got that with baked apples. There was a bit of wait, but it was a nice day, so no problems. Overall, this place is great for homey comfort food.

Not the average spot I would eat at, but if you are closing in to Bush Garden Williamsburg and looking for a quiet family spot this is it. Food was tasteful and healthy — I picked up the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and it wasn’t loaded with sauce. The sides included sweet potato and black beens. Warm and courteous service, very inexpensive. Also try their corn bread… yummy.

Oh mama… anyplace I can get shrimp and grits for breakfast is the place for me. This place does them amazing! And for such a cheap price, you get a lot of shrimp on top of cheesy grits. They were seriously way better than anything I’ve had in northern Virginia. I’m not used to getting so much food for so little money. I couldn’t finish the eggs and biscuit that came with it. We also got a side of corn cakes which were way worth getting if you’re a corn bread lover like me. The cake was delicious and crumbly and paired perfectly with the honey butter. If you come on a Sunday morning, expect to wait for your food. I feel like food is well worth the wait though. We saw a family walk out and all their delicious breakfast was wasted so definitely make sure to stay. Will definitely come back when I visit so I can fall into that glorious food coma again.

Words can not describe this level of deliciousness! With all the breakfast places Williamsburg Va. have to offer you really have to do something to stand out. Well this place stands UP and stands OUT with the food they place before you. My wife swears by the shrimp and grits! I love it ALL!!!

Great service, delicious food, big portions, low prices! We were there in a group of 5, lots of different items ordered. The shrimp and grits were a wonderful rich buttery flavor, included around 8 shrimp, well prepared. I wasn’t as hungry, got a side salad and split a pecan bread pudding with ice cream — both excellent. We would have gone back the next day, but closed Sunday evening and Mondays. Went back with another group of five friends a few days later, got the chicken livers, also delicious, same excellent service, menu with good variety of southern style dishes, and looking forward to trying more! Highly recommended!
