My boyfriend and I saw Deadpool here over the weekend. All of the staff was amazing. This was our first time there and the food was yummy. I personally don’t care for movie theaters because they are always stick and gross but my only complaint about this place is that it needs an update(which it kind of looks like it’s getting?). We really liked that they give you a clip for your order sign to know if you’d like another beer soon without you having to get up and order a second one.

The Movie Tavern is a different movie experience from other theaters. This was actually my first and only dinner theater I have gone to and it is a rather nice place. The price is very low especially compared to other major theater chains. I want to say the price depending on discounts and 3D or not I would say is mostly between $ 7 — $ 12 per person. I almost always pay about $ 7 for myself with a military discount. So a cheap movie is never far away. The theater is currently undergoing renovations and I will make sure to note what I am looking forward to and what was. Each theater previously had office type rolling chairs with a bar-top and white LED lights to see your food/drinks. I liked that setup a lot because it was so much different than I was use to. It was also fun to be able to move the chair around. You also seemed to have a lot of space within the chairs themselves. Each theater currently has new leather-like recliners with stainless steel cup holders in the arms and a small swivel table-top with a service button. This setup is much more modern and I really love it. The seats rock back and forth some, but they aren’t confining and still have quite a bit of space. The table tops are smaller, but if you aren’t eating more than two whole meals you should be fine. The service buttons are not yet operational. I look forward to the service buttons that way I can find my seat, press a button and order all without having to wait in a line hoping not to miss my movie or miss good seats. The employees are estimating the service buttons will start working sometime in February. The food stand is very typical quick foods. Burgers, fries, nachos, popcorn, etc. I have been known to be a bit overwhelmed by their food previously so now I only get small things. Don’t get me wrong, the food is still great. I think the thing I do like the most is I can get alcohol here. Not that alone, but they are installing a new full-service bar. I really look forward to seeing what the final bar will be like and if they have a larger variety of mixed drinks. Currently my favorites are their daiquiris. They are sweet and delicious. The Blue Thing was very powerful last I had it. I haven’t really tried it yet; however, they sell a large specialty mug that you can bring back and refill with beer. It’s called the Tanker. I love the idea; however, I’m not a beer person. Last time I asked they wouldn’t fill it with a mixed drink; however, I was told that some nights you can get the Tanker filled with mixed drinks for an extra charge. I haven’t tried it out too much and I do intend to. Overall, if you are looking for dinner and a movie this place is really shaping up to be that ideal place. This theater was one of the early theaters of it’s brand so it’s previous setup was a bit outdated for dinner theaters. Now it is going through a few million dollar renovations to get it up to pace with other similar dinner theaters. I am avery excited and will edit my review once all the new renovations are complete. Currently they expect all renovation to be finished sometime in February 2016.

Good idea. But the failed in execution. Seats are comfortable, but the theatre design is awful. No incline. So tourist right behind someone on the same level.

This place is great for a chill break from all the sight seeing and shopping around Williamsburg. We saw the Hunger Games here last Thanksgiving. I love how comfortable the chairs are and that they deliver the food right to you. The best part is that you can pre-order a beer or drink/food to be delivered at a certain point in your movie. So grab a beer, and pre-order one for the second half. You’ll never miss a second of the film.

I was pretty happy with the whole thing honestly. Beer was fairly cheap(you imagine any food/beverage at a theater to be expensive) and the fact that they bring you a refresher beer every __mins is awesome. The chairs were not uncomfortable by any means; they rock back and are quite cushy. Side note: might not be the coziest place for couples; the chairs — while comfy — are not cuddle friendly lol. All in all: I would definitely go again.

Always a treat coming here to watch movies and/or special events. It’s a huge plus that you can get real food here and beer. Really wish there was something like this back home.

This place is… interesting. I love the idea of watching a movie and ordering food/drinks and this place definitely fits the drink aspect. Can’t really mess up a beer. Stay away from the food though. I feel like this place could really use some updating too. The theaters are pretty small, but the main problem is that the chairs are so so loud. All I heard was squeaking the entire time. And unlike a lot of the newer theaters with the same idea, the chairs really aren’t that comfortable. Plus a star though because they have better prices than Regal.

So I thought we were trying something new until I realized I’d been to one of these before. In Georgia, just outside of Atlanta near Northlake Mall. However, it is a COMPLETELY different experience — Williamsburg being its saving grace. All Movie Taverns are not created equal. This theater is nice and has the same set-up; it IS their«thing.» University lecture halls with long tables. They even actually have cozy desk chairs that spin for you, so try and relax. But let me warn you; it is impossible. There wasn’t a moment I didn’t have flashbacks to watching a film in college(summer session, of course). They offer food, beer, and wine… so there’s the diff. You’re not in school anymore. You’re also far from a Cinebistro experience. But whatever tickles your fancy.

I always love this style of theater where you can have dinner and the movie together. The place is clean and well presented. You have to place your food order at the concession stand and they will bring it to you. This part of it needs improvement. I had a party of 7 and we used our cell phones to look at the menu and then I placed the order. The food came fast but was loaded with salt and not that tasty. Lastly the other places I have been too with this style of movie theater sell pictures of soda. If you have a large group that is a lot better then paying $ 5 a person for a drink. I had to spend $ 35 on drinks alone including the bottle water hostage fee since you can’t get free water. The lack of a cheaper drink alternative and salt in the food lost the movie tavern 2 stars.

I’ve always been interested in going to a movie/restaurant place and in the end was pleased with my experience. The movie ticket itself was very reasonable and comparable to other«regular» theaters. You are not obligated to buy food to watch the movie and can enjoy your little table area with comfy seating. We did buy food though which was also reasonable. Nothing special to report here. Average food for average price. We do enjoy movie theaters that serve alcohol though. I had a rather syrupy daiquiri while my boyfriend sprung for the refillable beer mug. Filling the mug with beer is much cheaper in the long run… Though since we live out of town he bought the mug more for souvenir purposes. I gave this place a 4 compared to other theaters. But compared specifically to movie restaurants this place is more a 3. I would highly recommend coming during their breakfast flick specials on Saturdays mornings. Earlier tickets are cheaper(duh), but their breakfast food are also cheaper overall from their regular menu.

Fun to have a beer at the movie. Don’t show up for the food it’s atrocious. But having a hot dog and a cocktail at the movie is enough to bring me in on a Saturday night.

There are 2 movie theaters in Williamsburg. This location is the best bang for your buck if you are an avid movie watcher. When I first visited here when it opened, I was surprised because the chairs were all computer chairs. Don’t let that discourage you because they are actually surprisingly comfortable. If you are a student, you get a great discount and will be paying less than $ 10 for a ticket. I tried the food here twice and its pretty good. If you forget to eat lunch or dinner and you wont make it to your movie time, its really convenient that they serve actual meals. Bit pricey but worth the experience. I got the chicken tacos and the mango was amazing! Fries are pretty good too. If you are trying to save a couple bucks and just wanna watch the film, this is the place to go. You can also order a beer too! This place also does not have as many kids that go as the other theater.

This place gets packed fast! since this is one of few places to go outside of the outlet stores around here. It’s in a new shopping center. It’s a place to get a full menu and beer while watching a movie. I didn’t eat here since I ate before I got here but the food was smelling good. The seats are comfy– it’s leather high back chairs. There are long rows of tables with lighting so you can see your food. And it is very spacious spaces so you are not actually touching your neighbors. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out and watch a good movie.

This theater is strange. Instead of seats, there are office chairs set up behind a small bar. It’s also dirty and generally not a pleasant experience. Would not came back here again or recommend it.

As one of only two movie theaters here in Williamsburg, I’ve frequented this place a lot over the years. It’s worth paying a visit to, but there’s some good and there’s some bad here. I’ll start with the good: the prices are for the most part very reasonable. The tickets last I checked ran a few dollars cheaper than the Regal theater in New Town. The tanker is the highlight of the drink menu here: it’s a 38 oz stein that you purchase for $ 9, and can fill with beer for either $ 7 or $ 9, depending on the quality you get. So you can get a movie ticket and the equivalent of 3 beers for under 20 dollars, which is excellent for a cheap night out. They run a couple of cool weekly promotions here: Breakfast and a Flick on weekend mornings(self-explanatory), and Retro Cinema, showings of classic movies on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The latter is a personal favorite of mine, I’ve had the chance to see movies such as Back to the Future and Jurassic Park on the big screen here. My two main qualms are the seating and food. The seating consists of several rows of office chairs with a desk/table area in front of you to place your food. That area has LED lights which you are unable to control, which can be somewhat distracting when you’re actually watching the movie. The food… well, I couldn’t think of anything to recommend here. It’s not ridiculously expensive, but I’d rank the quality as somewhere between 7-Eleven and Wawa. I haven’t dabbled in anything more than appetizer and side items, but nothing I’ve had has inspired my confidence in their pizzas or burgers. I’ll still come here due to the strengths I mentioned, as well as the proximity. However, with better options such as the Newport News Paragon Theaters and Hampton Cinebistro opening over the past few years, their flaws are accentuated more than in the past when the alternatives didn’t exist.

I finally took the leap into going to the Movie Tavern in Williamsburg, Va. Very different experience than I am used to, the use of office chairs is cheap and uncomfortable to say the least. The theater is good for their movie prices, but on the expensive side when it comes to the food.

Who wants to watch a movie in office chairs, with annoying bright lights in front of you?! Seriously if you have EVER visited Paragon in Newport News or any Cinebistro it makes this place look like a giant joke for a movie theater.

LOVE this theater. Cheap matinees, extra comfy seats, beer, half decent food. They even have breakfast and a movie on the weekend! It seems to be less crowded than Regal in New Town and the people who work here generally seem to be friendly and cheerful, which is somewhat rare for a movie theater.
