Great food! Great service! Well worth leaving the interstate to eat! We enjoyed the Buffett, salad bar & deserts. Highly recommend!

Stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Great service and delicious food… Had the breakfast buffet which was excellent! The grits were creamy, the potatoes were crisp and had great seasoning, scrambled eggs were fluffy, biscuits were fresh and hot, bacon was crispy without being burnt, sausage patty was average, sausage links were«ok», coffee was fresh and hot. We will go back when traveling through Willimaston heading to the Outer Banks.

I’m not much of a buffet goer. But the southern food served at this restaurant is awesome. I highly recommend the coleslaw, boiled cabbage, collard greens and sweet potato casserole. The collard greens were my absolute favorite. Chicken was also excellent and very moist. Desserts are also pretty good. Try the pumpkin crunch tarts. Would totally go there again. Not an empty place in the parking lot.

Good food, fair prices, but time it right or this place is a zoo for lunch. I didn’t know eastern north carolina had so many police officers, but they all show up here at 11:30 for lunch. The salad bar, greens, butter beans and fried chicken are great. Friday is seafood lunch buffet, I can take it or leave it. The staff has always been very nice. I ordered catering once for 50 and the prices were very reasonable.

Country buffet is the meal of choice here. Anything on the menu is roughly the same price as the buffet. The food is ok, nothing special, but it will fill you up.

Was recommended by hotel staff when I asked for a local place with barbecue. No barbecue on dinner menu. I went with the closest I could find — a cup of chili, Mac N Cheese, and loaded mashed potato. Chili was great, unfortunately service was a little slow and waitress«assumed» I wanted the items one by one not all together(they were all side items). So I had two glasses of wine while waiting and left a little buzzed. I sat on the porch swing outside watching the many hummingbirds visit their feeders until I felt ok enough to drive. All in all not bad. Free wifi access if you ask for the password. Friendly locals. Dining room was kept dark, I am not that old but could barely read menu.

So I got some wings and a glass of wine. They delivered my food, but no silverware. And when I asked for a napkin and a fork — she acted annoyed and went about ringing In bills while my food got cold

These are the best tumbleweeds(onion rings) ever. Very clean. Great restrooms. Great service. Did I mention the tumbleweeds? They are great. You have to order them. They call their version of fritters corn nuggets. They are great also. I had sirloin tips and my wife had cod cakes. This place is great!!!

Had dinner here last night and was pleasantly surprised. Service was fast and very friendly. The thing that stood out most was that nearly all of the wait staff(not just our waitress) stopped by to ask if we needed anything. They genuinely seemed interested in serving their guests. The food was also good. DW had sirloin tips with baked sweet potato and I had the western chicken dish. Both were cooked properly. The chicken breast was moist and tender. No room for desert but I’m sure it was good as well. I would recommend this place to a friend and would stop in again if in the area. Good job!

A little bit of country. Rustic with lots of wood. It has a salad bar with the usual. Boring bread and not real butter. The food is eatable but not memorable If you like good olé boy food this might be for you. Does have a full bar. Friendly staff

It’s generally ok. We have been here several times when in town. We go when nothing else is appealing. The food is standard and is nothing to rave about. The salads seem old. Limp lettuce and soft tomatoes. Service was good.

I like their lunch and dinner. Last time they could not get my breakfast right. What’s hard about fried eggs firm without runny yokes? The bacon and potatoes were good thought and good coffee. Good service with a friendly smile.

It’s been four years since my review, Time for an update! Went here for lunch while staying in Williamston. I had the lunch buffet which includes the salad bar. The Salad Bar had a very good variety — much better than the average«local» restaurant. The buffet had eastern NC style barbecue, fried chicken, and seafood with several vegetables. My only concern is that the pans of food are not labeled. They had a couple of large pans of food that had a melted cheese topping but I couldn’t determine what the food was under it. Had some delicious spiced baked apple slices — which I thought were boiled potatoes based on the color and texture and their location next to the pan of barbecue. They had a nice variety of desserts that was nicely displayed on another table. price was reasonable for the meal.

Ok. So I pride myself in being very accurate in my personal opinion on reviews. This particular review deserves a note. My review of this restaurant is based on where it is located. Where it is located it is a SOLID4. If you placed this same restaurant in a major city it would be a 3. Ok? So, given the location. Visited on a Wednesday evening about 6pm. Not very busy when I arrived but by the time I departed the restaurant was at least 50% full. I ordered the 10oz Ribeye MR, w/baked potato and substituted the salad bar for the house salad for an extra charge. They do have beer and wine. Ok, so standard lower level beer and«house» wine but where it is located I was surprised. Back to the food! The salad bar was well worth the extra charge. All ingredients were fresh and the bar itself was well maintained and clean. The waitstaff was pleasant and very attentive. The steak was cooked to order, potato hot, and bread steaming. Note: the steak was a standard quality steakhouse cut so don’t expect a gourmet cut… but it was pretty good. The potato. Can a potato be the highlight of a meal? If so this would be it. Very well cooked. Not raw. Not old. They could improve by using ground pepper instead of the«pepper dust» that was available. But again. Not so bad. For the non-meat eaters. My daughter is a vegetarian and honestly I would had not thought this place had pasta but it does. Didn’t try it but I do know that between the pasta and the salad bar she would leave happy. Final scoop? I have been driving by this location for over 20 years to the OBX and have listened to folks in the car whine about being hungry for most of those. Before you suffer through another drive to a «place that has good food» stop at this place… it has good food!

Went to the Hitch’n Post this past week for the first time. I have to admit that I was a little hesitant on being excited about this place. I mean, the Hitch’n Post is a name that did not resonate great food items, but I was told it was a must so I agreed. First, the staff could not have been more hospitable and awesome! We were taken care of the entire time, and as if we were the only customers in the restaurant– even though it was super busy! They had a general menu that I didn’t even look at because I was told the buffet had a huge selection and was wonderful. Smarty Shannon, I went for the buffet and was pleasantly surprised. Not only did they have a very large buffet with lots of options, the salad bar had so many fresh veggie options, I almost filled up on that alone. They also had a mean corn pudding(tying with my grandma’s recipe-shhhh, don’t tell her I said that), homemade mashed potatoes, and green beans that were so flavorful, it could have been a meal in itself. Next time I am in Williamston, I will definitely visit Hitch’n Post. Williamston doesn’t have much to offer with restaurants, so it is nice to know that the one and only option, other than fast food, is something this good!

Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening, although always a welcome site to see a parking lot NOT empty when pulling into a new place. Have been meaning to check this place out for a while and after reading a few reviews here thought it was about time. Very nice atmosphere, almost a Cracker Barrel feel without the store to navigate through to be seated. Very simple menu but plenty of variety. Be sure to check out the specials board. Prices were very reasonable and service was attentive. If other servers walked past your table they were sure to refill drinks and remove any finished dishes.
