Don’t take your driving test here. You’re better off taking it at a private driving school. That’s was I did and passing was a breeze. I’ve honestly never heard of anyone passing at the Willimanitc DMV the fist time. The employees at this DMV want you to fail so that you can spend another $ 40 to retest. Save time, money, and agony and don’t test here.

So don’t trust the wait times on the app! They only count the time from when you check in! Not the 30 minutes plus you wait to check in! Wethersfield was even worse! Actually left there to drive to here and probably still got out quicker. However they get five stars for great staff. When we got to the counter they told us we had to go back to Wethersfield but Judy went the extra mile and asked her supervisor if they could do the paper work! They did! The wait was worth it!

Got my license renewed and did not wait in line long. Walked in and and got my service ticket and was called up in a few minutes. Renewed my license in about 30 minutes. I stopped in this DMV office around 1:30pm so it was off peak hours.

I went in to register a vehicle, and get new plates. I arrived at opening– there was a long line but it went fast… previous complaints of increased traffic isn’t this place’s fault– power to this one branch that was effective enough to stay open. The parking, and building, was not well equipped to handle the large crowd– but the people were efficient, proficient, and … cheerful…

The closing of numerous other branches has this one circling the drain from what I can tell, giving us yet another example of the State of Connecticut’s constant struggle to efficiently run its Departments. The building, cramped parking and limited staff are all ill-equipped to handle the increase in customers. The parking lot spillover runs into neighboring businesses, and you’ll wait in a line for an hour just to find out what to do next. There’s no excuse for how slow the«information» line is, nor for why they lump all but driving tests into the same category. Best bet is probably to take several hours off from work and go at an unusual time. Did I mention that their posting on the wall for a Manchester AAA office(that can help with license renewals) was for a AAA office that moved over a year ago? Have fun finding it… Oh the temptation to really go off on a rant…
