Great place if you like Japanese food! The crab balls were beyond tasty, lol, with such crisp outside but juicy inner crabmeat, not to mention the delicious sauce! Sushi and tempura were good too. Best miso tofu soup. Further, I was really impressed with the décor of KoYa. From the flowers up front, to the nice casual din lightening. Such a wonderful time tonight. Will definitely be coming back!

The sushi is exceptionally fresh, and quite delicious. The bento boxes are full of tasty morsels, and great value, especially over lunch. Add to that gentle music, a cozy interior and attentive service, and this little sushi café is real jewel.

Wow, this place is a gem of a find inthe heart of Wilmette. Just a block or so from the Metro next to the theater. Right away I was impressed with the décor of the restaurant. From the flowers up front, to the nice casual dim lightening, to the spacious layout of the store made it a warm and comfortable dinner. I asked out server/host if he had any recommendations and he pointed out some most commons. We went with his advice and got the rainbow dragon(delicious and well plated), Godzilla(very different than other Godzillas in that it was a larger roll but not so large that it is difficult to eat. What i liked about it the most was it had a wasabi sauce on it that gave you the taste without the overwhelming heat.) ugh I can’t remember the 3rd roll but it was cooked and started with a T(Tanatara? That was my friends favorite. I’m going with the Godzilla. The service was beyond great. For a single server and half a house full he did a great job. Very polite and nice. Next up, have to try the Highland Park reservation. Highly recommend

How have I lived in Wilmette for 9 years and not been here?! The main reason I give this place 5 stars is because of the service. I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants and I’ve always had mediocre service. But from the moment you walk in, you are bombarded with welcoming spirits. Not exaggerating. You can tell that they appreciate the customers. I ordered the udon and it was pretty good. Nothing to go crazy over, but good. We also ordered the teriyaki noodles and pork cutlet. The Teriyaki noodles were subpar and pretty salty. The pork cutlet was great and not dry. I’ll try something different the next time I come. But I highly recommend this place. It’s perfect for a date night or a family dinner.

Koya is amazing! My wife and I LOVE this place! Whenever we are craving sushi, we go here. Avocado torch roll is heavenly. Best miso soup. The people who work here are so friendly and welcoming and their food is THEBEST. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Go and try for yourself!

We have frequented all the sushi restaurants that have been in this space. And this is by far the best and not just better than the rest but really good. Sushi is always very fresh, service is good. It is apparent that they have experience(they have another sushi restaurant in HP). While the space is a typical Japanese restaurant, the food and service are definitely worth it. Great tip Is the Children’s menu — very reasonably priced and good! Kids love the chicken teriyaki bento box.

What an awesome place!!! We went here tonight for my sister’s birthday and had such a wonderful time. The owner was so nice, very informative about the food, and made the whole experience delightful, even for my 3 year old! He gave him kiddie chopsticks, a cute little plastic cup for water, and the list goes on. The food was deeeeeelicious! So fresh and yummy and great prices to boot! Even though we live almost a half hour away, we will definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a nice evening!!!

Service is excellent; free dessert at the end is a nice touch as is the miso and seaweed in the beginning. Very nice atmosphere and décor for a neighborhood joint.

Came back after months and it’s been busier than usual. Regardless how busy it was service was still great! We sat and the server came to us after 3 minutes. Food is still amazing as always. Thanks koya for always giving great service regardless of how busy you guys were!

Food is great, especially for the price, but it’s the service that really shines. All around great experience, we’ll be back soon!

Koya, formerly Kama Kura, is barely okay. The only reason why I’ve gone there is its proximity to the Wilmette Theatre. There are much, much better alternatives notably Renga-Tei in Lincolnwood.

Koya is really outstanding. It is new to Wilmette but has operated in Highland Park for 10 years or so. It’s family owned and operated, the décor is very nice, very clean. The standout is the food. The best sushi around, fresh and masterfully prepared. Outstanding in every way. Give these guys a try and you’ll be back.
