Love their food! We always get the orange chicken — can’t go wrong. Crab Rangoon appetizer is delicious, also.

Get this for take out all the time. Great variety, always warm and delicious. Pretty quick turnaround. Love the princess chicken! Potstickers and egg drop soup also great. Prices are reasonable.

Had Mushroom Chicken(simple but good), combination fried rice, gyoza(tasted mass produced even though they said it was house made) and mu shu shrimp(said the msg was only in the plum sauce and it was in the whole dish). Really surprised that they had msg in every soup and appetizer — made it really difficult to have to not order favorite dishes. Service was ok, but never asked us if we wanted more tea or beverages. Just so so. Not likely to be back based on the msg issue.

Came here for the first time after living in the area for over 2 years and we are happy we did! The service was excellent and the food was hot, fast and delicious! We will certainly be back. The crab ragoons, orange chicken and triple vegetables were so spot on! Great place! I want to eat it again… Right now for breakfast :)

Great service, good food! I was not expecting much when we walked in – the space is a bit dingy. But we were so pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was very sweet to our small children, chatting with them and bringing them«chopstick helpers». The food is American Chinese, so don’t expect a Chinatown experience. The potstickers were really fresh and tasty. The Tsing Tao chicken was great! We will definitely be back.

Great food and wonderful customer service! We have been going here for years and my personal favorites are the orange chicken, hunan beef, potstickers and soups! I would eat here every day if I could!

Very good service, food was tasty, but not great. It’s a lot more Americanized than I thought. The twice-cooked pork was very dry and I don’t think they used the correct type of pork. It’s a good place to eat for lunch, but nothing to write home about.

My family has been going here for years, and we have never had a bad experience. The staff is extremely friendly, and the food is great! I personally recommend the hot and sour soup, crab rangoons, orange beef, and an off menu item called Richard’s chicken.

How does this place not have more stars? My family has been going here for at least 20 years, and I make sure to visit ever time I visit my folks in Wilmette. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants ever, and hands-down the best for Americanized Chinese. The egg rolls are made in-house and are extremely delicious. The Mongolian beef is a must, and we always enjoy the empress or princess chicken(which are similar to Kung Pao chicken). Their sizzling rice soup and egg drop soup are also notable. Finally, Tsing Tao has a great ambience — there is something very classic about it, and the staff are friendly and gracious(I believe the restaurant is family owned…).

This is a Chinese restaurant tailored towards Americans. If your view about Chinese food is popo platter, lemon chicken, you come to the right place. If you crave for some delicious authentic Chinese food, you will be disappointed. Food price is reasonable, and servers are friendly, although service is rushed. The taste gets a very low rating.

I liked the food just fine, but it wasn’t mind-blowing. I much prefer authentic Chinese which you can find in abundance in Chicago. I got the orange beef, and it was good. It wasn’t the best orange beef I’d ever had, but still good. I also got the potstickers because of the recommendations, and I did not like them at all. I mean, they were meh. They tasted like tiny, slightly spicy sausages in a pot sticker wrapper. I much prefer the potstickers at Sam’s Club you make yourself, or Trader Joe’s. It was also pretty expensive – I recommend going at lunch time and getting a lunch special first and seeing what you like before ordering a dinner and appetizers.

Sesame chicken was OK. Tastes a little old though, don’t go near closing. 13 bucks too…

Tsing tao is a great place to eat. It’s been in wilmette for 33 years I think. So I love food, and my favorite thing to start off a meal is an order of egg rolls. Very crunchy and great flavor. I love to add some sweet and sour sauce to it. I could eat them everyday. (also a tip order egg drop soup and ask for some crispy noodles and put them in the soup. It’s really good.) Now main courses everyone needs to order Richards chicken. It’s a lightly battered chicken done in a sweet sauce. It’s not on the menu, but order it and you won’t be disappointed. My next favorite after that is the Mongolian beef. Add some steamed rice and I’m on my way to heaven. As for drinks I love getting Mai tai they are so good I wish I didn’t drive so I could have more than one. Also if you like whiskey they have a couple of choices. Like red label black label, makers mark. I saw a bottle of Jameson black barrel reserve, which I have to try the next time I come to eat dinner. I recommend Richards chicken, Mai tai and Mongolian beef. Tsing tao = awesome

Carry-out menu calls Tsing Tao Shrimp«A very special exotic dish!» I fell for it. The dish includes peas and carrots that look and taste like they came out of a can. There also were a few sad-looking onions. I thought maybe that ordering soon after they opened today would mean the fry oil would be fresher tasting. Wrong. The shrimp had the same lousy aftertaste as their other fried stuff. I’m finally done with this place.

Very traditional American Chinese here, though not enough veggie options. I do believe I had food poisoning from this location as well. Thankfully it was mild. That said, the garlic green string beans were good, the broccoli was«meh», and the veggie fried rice was okay. The service was good, the food fast, and the tea strong. The strange locals who frequent the joint are an interesting crew.

The most egregious failing of this restaurant is that its COMPLETELY inaccessible to someone in a wheelchair. The restrooms are in the back down a lonnnnnnnnnnng, narrrrrrrrrrrrrrow flight of stairs. COMPLETELY unusable by a disabled person and they couldn’t even wash their hands on the first floor. Now that I’ve voiced that: My review: We took a run up North and since Depot Nuevo was closed(wahhhhhhhhhh) we defaulted to Tsing Tao for lunch. Bad mistake. Really baddddddddddddd mistake for lunch. Maybe I shoulda asked for their regular menu but I was lazy. I had Sesame Chicken with eggdrop soup, fried rice and an eggroll. The soup was meh(wife called it slimy and pushed it far away). The fried rice was pretty much inedible by anyone who’s eaten GOOD fried rice with no peas, no beansprouts, no mushrooms, no nothing but lukewarm rice. My sesame chicken had no sesame seeds!!! WTF over. It tasted burnt too. I left most of it on the plate. Next time we’ll go North to the Green Bay café…

Kind of OK. Not nearly as good as I remembered it being. Tasteless vegi egg rolls, good hot and sour soup. The only flavor the Hunan beef had was the dried peppers(good heat level) and the soy sauce I added. The Schecwan Green Beans were tasty but needed another vegetable or SOMETHING. We had been looking forward to going back. That itch is scratched and we can’t imagine going out of our way to eat there again. This time we were looking backward through rose colored culinary glasses.

This was the first Chinese restaurant we tried after moving to Wilmette. We came from having NO good Chinese restaurants in the small Oregon town we lived in, so this was pretty good. However, I would NOT recommend the Sweet & Sour Chicken. The sweet & sour juice was just a liquid, really runny, and did not taste good. The egg rolls were really good, as was the Mongolian beef that my wife got. So, we’d definitely try it again, but I would never get the Sweet & Sour Chicken again, which is a bummer, because that’s normally one of my favorite dishes.
