Duke was wonderful. We had parked on flite acres and it turns out it was a no parking area, Duke saved us from getting towed. Because of the floods little Arkansas road was closed(we were staying at Montesino ranch) so he let us park at his place all weekend. Generous and kind person. In the future will look at renting from Jackaroo

I scoured the Internet for a cabin/cottage that would be a) under $ 200 a night for 2 people b) with nearby river access c) that could be booked online and d) had a full kitchen e) had cable TV(shut up, we don’t have it at home and it’s our vacation!) Jackaroo Ranch cottage was all of these things! It was perfect. There is a Jackaroo Ranch house on the property as well for larger groups but the cottage was exactly what we wanted, very quaint, cozy, and comfortable. The place was well maintained and very well equipped with dishes, pans, utensils, blankets, etc. And the pillows were so nice, we wanted to take them home with us! Temperature was very pleasant when we were there so no need for heating or cooling but there was an AC unit and heaters as well as electric blankets. There were handy notes around to tell us where the dressings for the couch futon were and what to do with our trash. The owner lives just down the road and left her number in case we needed anything(everything was perfect so we never needed it!) We didn’t look before we went to the store so we bought some charcoal but it turns out that there was already coal, lighter fluid, and a lighter in a bin under the grill. It was hard to tell from the limited pictures on the website(we booked through All Wimberely Lodging) exactly how close to the river it was but it was indeed very close and just a quick little stroll down there; there was a table and chairs set up down there where we enjoyed our breakfast and it also happens to be right at the bridge that crosses the river so we were able to easily walk across and hike around on the other side. And at night we’d just turn on the christmas lights and hang out on the porch, listening to the river and the frogs and just chill. I wish I was there right now! It’s a little bit out of the town center which makes you feel nice and hidden away but it’s just like a 7 minute drive into the cute little downtown area. There is a little parking spot for the cottage that is labeled; I wasn’t sure where the parking was going to be and thought maybe we’d have to park by the house or something so this was good. The shower is really small which wasn’t the best, I don’t know how you’re supposed to shave your legs in there! The only other very minor thing is that since you’re sharing the grounds, there might be some back and forth with the gate; we would have just left it open for easy entry and exit but the people in the house had dogs so they would close it all the time which was just a tiny bit annoying but obviously not that big a deal. Overall, I highly recommend it and hope we get to come back sometime!
