I would give this place one star but Unilocal will not allow it. The place is just plain awful, it’s filthy bring your bug spray and gallons of Clorox get ready for bedbugs anything you can think of that might be awful. This place should’ve been condemned because it’s just filthy and they don’t do anything to take care of anything as far as cleaning most of the bathrooms and Kamoze or just painted to cover the dirt in the mold in the walls from prior flooding just makes it difficult to breeze We rented a cabin for the summer when we moved out they stole our refrigerator, sofa, TV cabinet, and boxes of other things while we were gone looking at our new place. We rented the cabin while moving to the area. So watch these guys they are crooks.

Great location, but when they start spray painting the bath tubs dark colors… it’s a little scary. Plus for the money it’s not very clean and no linens are supplied. We have been several times, although, last time we went we were told not to play music and we had it pretty low and it was before 10pm. Apparently we had a couple from France with a small kid next to us. We won’t be going back…

I started coming to Rio Bonito when I was four years old, and my entire extended family has been returning every year for the last 30 years. It is the highlight of the summer for several generations. There is no better access to the Blanco river anywhere up and down the shores. There is a «deep end» that is just deep enough for the little ones to be able to swim but shouldn’t be over the heads of any elementary school aged kids. Then there is a «shallows» area with fast-running water, a rapids shoot, and plenty of areas for just floating in the cool water or sitting in a lawn chair next to a cooler stocked with your choice of beverages. This is a camp, not a five-star hotel. The breathtaking scenery of the cottonwood and cypress trees are the primary attraction. The cabins have good AC units that give you refuge from the heat, and they are well furnished to ensure everyone has room to sit, eat, cook, and visit. Only recently did the cabins get old TVs, cable, and DVD players. The cabins are old. There are stains. There are rust. There are some holes. But they are comfortable and safe. «Rustic» comes to mind. If you do it right, you will be tracking in dirt and lots of soaked bathing suits. The resort is best experienced out-of-doors. Bring meat for the grill, your bathing suit, a camera, and maybe some board games and a deck of cards and enjoy the opportunity to reconnect with your family away from computers and cell-phones. Places like this are a rare find in our increasingly modern world.

This place left a lot to be desired especially for the $ 140 a night. You take your own sheets, pillows, towels(including kitchen towels) and your own trash bags. The cabin, in itself, was spacious, but it was one of the dirtiest places I have ever stayed. I think the only cleaning that gets done is by the occupants paying to stay here. There were big holes in the bathroom walls, instead of repairing them they had just stuffed them full of toilet paper. The tub didn’t drain so when you showered you got to stand ankle deep in gunk. There were roaches in the bathroom, and yes they enjoyed the swim in the tub. We had rented five cabins for family coming for a wedding(required to book for 3 nights). The 12 kids in the wedding party were going to spend sat. At the blue hole playing in the water but changed their mind when they found out it would cost. Asked if they could come swim in the river. Rio Bonito charged the family of the groom $ 100 for river use, which I was appalled at considering we rented five cabins for three nights. Funny thing is, with the drought the river was only calf deep at best. And the icing on the cake, they wanted you to take all your trash out and haul the trash cans down to the street. So I make my own beds, wash my linens, haul out the trash and I’m paying you $ 140 a night for what?
