What a great little local place! Clearly most of the people here are regulars but we felt so welcomed by the customers and staff. The food was very inexpensive and awesome — seriously, breakfast for two under $ 20 with tip.

Before I write any further, I have to let you know that I LOVE old school diners, places that have been around forever, where the tables are filled with friendly locals. At one point in my life, I drove across the US stopping at as many of these kind of places as I could along the way. Frannie’s fits every requirement I have to love a breakfast joint. 1. Coffee right away. The waitress arrived with mugs and a coffee pot, BEFORE we even ordered, just in case. 2. Lots of choices. There were a ton of egg/omelet/pancake choices. 3. Signature touches. Frannie’s serves their home fries with sauteed onions and many of their omelets and scrambles reflect their Italian roots. There was an eggplant parm omelet and an Italian sausage and pepper scramble. 4. Off the beaten path. Frannie’s definitely has an only-the-locals-probably-go-there feel. 5. Reasonable prices. For three full, filling breakfasts and beverages, the bill came to $ 32 with tip.

This place is a great find. It’s a cute little restaurant, perfect for breakfast or lunch. The staff is always super nice & friendly and the food has a home cooked feel. It’s easy to become a regular, which I have. It’s typically an older crowd, but they welcome everyone. It’s definitely worth a try.

Frannie’s is nothing to look at and I like it that way. I started here when my son was maybe 8 years old and playing Pop Warner football. You can come in as you are and eat mounds of yummy pancakes. And get some free advice from a local at the counter. Now I bring my mother in law; she enjoys listening in on the conversation from the local codgers who line the back wall. And she craves for the free salad, very North End she says, simply done with oil and vinegar. You can get basic sandwiches, some Italian dishes, and always some fried seafood. Simply done, filling, inexpensive, friendly and never do they rush you. Thanks.

If I could go less that one star, I would. Walked in, place is disgusting. Floors filthy, and I had to inspect the counter top before sitting down, ugh. I sat down and asked how the coffee was, and I was given a coffee. Really? Waitress is a complete dope. I looked at my silverware and it looked like it was wipes and not washed, nasty! I told the lady, I can’t eat here and walked out, nightmare inside here, clean the place and have your staff look presentable. Will never return here when Bickfords is down the street on Montvale Ave.

Great service and the best kept breakfast spot in Winchester. They make the best hash and the pancakes were light and fluffy. As far as décor it is just a local spot it is if e the way it is. PS it very kid friendly

I used to come to Frannie’s as a kid almost 3 or 4 times a week. My brother, our friend and I would wake up nice and early to eat with all the old folk! We were well known there so we always got the best table(the round on in the corner) and the best server(Jenny)!!! It is nothing special when it comes to appearance, but the food is honest and wholesome and filling!!! It definitely beats eating at Bickford’s or Swanton Street Diner where you are more than likely going to get a rude server or be unsatisfied with your meal.

Frannie’s is homey, wholesome, and has good French toast and whipped butter. I had no more room for the pancakes that came out«by mistake» and they gave me gratis, but they looked delicious as well. Our waitress was a sweet darling old granny I couldn’t love more. I think the décor is what gives the place its character, in part, so no to sprucing it up. Everyone sang happy birthday spontaneously to someone who was celebrating a special day. It’s so heart-warming to know that Frannie’s exists in Winchester.

Yes Jeff the food is good. I have only had breakfast there so I can’t speak of more than that. Parking is also good. But the décor is horrible. Hey for a place to be as busy as they are I should think the owner would spruce it up. ALOT. I rent and have put over thousands of dollars into my shop. It’s part of the cost of doing business. I’ll give them 4 stars if they would just paint and get better lighting.
