Reminds me of JoAnn’s Etc on the west coast but with an overabundance of cheap home décor. It’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s just blah. I shopped here, but couldn’t find the lace nor the beads that I liked, so I quickly left.

When I lived in North Carolina for a year in college in 2008, Hobby Lobby was a necessity. I stopped in all the time and often found great deals. Apparently, that hasn’t changed. On a recent Virginia vacation, I noticed a Hobby Lobby nearby and nagged my boyfriend to make a stop. If it wasn’t closing at 8 p.m., I likely would’ve stayed for hours! Even so, I walked out with multiple bags of goodies. Of course, after arriving back in South Jersey, I found out that a Hobby Lobby recently opened nearby. Still, though. My mind connects this chain to the Southern states, and this visit was so much fun!

Wife enjoyed her outing here today. Business hours posted indicate they are closed Sundays to allow employees the day to worship and be with family. I don’t want to get into all the other possible political arguments mentioned in another post because they may or may not be relevant. We liked the variety. Prices were in line with competitors. We plan to come here for more crafty stuff in the future. The store doesn’t have that strong smell of artificial dyes that hits you when you enter Michaels and AC Moore’s and frankly I can’t stand going into those stores for that reason alone.

Yesterday was my first time at a Hobby Lobby and it was amazing! Soo much craft stuff and home décor items although the home décor prices are wayyyy expensive even when stuff was half off, eep. The lady at the register was really nice too, when I bought some paint pens she took it upon herself to give me the lower price of their older paint pens in the same brand, awesome :) The place is like an oversized Michael’s but with overpriced TJ Maxx décor. The only thing I didn’t like was that I didn’t really see any signs showing where anything was located throughout the store and some of the home décor I felt needed to be grouped together as it almost seemed like their own staff didn’t know where things belonged. Anyhow, who needs 3 different locations for mirrors? Hobby Lobby: P

Hobby Lobby is like Walmart for crafty people. They have fabrics, home décor, holiday decorations and every craft item you could ever want. It’s so big, we didn’t have time to look at everything. Prices are extremely reasonable and the employees I interacted with were really nice. They’re closed on sundays because Hobby Lobby is a Christian company… the door even says they are closed to give their employees time for worship. I’m sure this probably appeals to most people in this area, but it annoys me. Weekends are when I go out and get stuff done so it’s pretty annoying if the places I want to go are closed for half of the weekend. Because of that, I did some research and I guess I won’t be shopping here anymore. The Hobby Lobby website has a page titled«Ministry» which says: «Hobby Lobby Partners with organizations working to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to all the world.» Until recently, one of the organizations listed on that page was the Alliance Defense Fund, an anti-gay organization who believes«The homosexual legal agenda is one of the greatest threats to religious freedom in America today.» I don’t give my money to places who work to keep me from having the same freedoms as straight people.
