Meadows Farms Nurseries – Winchester

Always a great selection of plants. Many of our favorites were purchased here. Customer service well that is another thing. It has ranged occasionally from helpful to mostly ambivalent to occasionally rude.

Had a $ 2,000 install of about 15 plants last year. Since then, about five bushes have died and have been replaced. I’m not sure why, I followed instructions, used a soaker hose, watered three times a week, etc. they say they have a lifetime warranty and seemed responsive at first but now I must have become a nuisance to them. I currently have a Hershey Red azalea that is looking sickly compared to the others. A main branch in the front of the bush died off and now there’s a huge gap in the front. Either it was trampled or the harsh cold winter got to it. I have sent in pictures three times now and I guess they don’t agree it needs to be replaced. It’s not completely dead mind you, it is bald next to the others and looks smaller and uneven. I was told on the second attempt weeks ago that somebody would contact me. I’m still waiting. If we disagree, that’s okay, I’m easy going really and I don’t mind compromise so, In my last communication, I have offered to buy a new one and replace it myself. I went to the store to try and find one but they don’t have this particular variety in stock. So I’m still searching for a matching replacement and I get the feeling I’m being ignored. I like to keep my front yard looking good and this Meadows has been my go to place for almost 15 years but I think it may be time to stray elsewhere. I sure hope I don’t have any more issues. If anybody sees a decent Red Hershey azalea for sale somewhere, please let me know.
UPDATE: The bush was finally replaced today. I’m not sure why it took so long compared to other replacements, which were replaced within a week or so. I would have appreciated occasional contact with some status updates along the way since so much time had elapsed instead of me thinking they forgot about it. The new bush looks very healthy and Meadows always gives extra attention to detail by spreading some fresh mulch to blend in with the rest of the bed. Jay – kind thanks for the apologies, it’s great to know you care and maybe I was just the 3^rd or 4^th person, but it was still a 10+ minute ordeal. My feedback is based on 3 separate visits and each time it took way too long to pay and get out of there. Here’s to hoping my experience was a fluke and it will be better for others. :)

S l o w service, always has one register going (why?). Good selection of plants and bulk mulch. Average nursery prices.
