Feeling charitable –menu is out dated and rather dull –the surroundings perhaps charming but ultimately out dated and dull –prices are on the high side of reasonable –went there for a work function(not my idea) and the place was 90% empty on Tuesday night –service was(never said this before) overly attentive. See bullet point above… Given most other options, apart from taking my granny out to dinner I wouldn’t bother returning.

It’s generally not a good sign when the hostess argues with a customer for asking when they can expect to be seated. Called ahead: 0 min wait. Put name on list. Showed up 5 min later, told 30 min wait. Asked for a status after 45 min. Told 20 more minutes. Asked why a quote of zero minutes turned into 1 he 15 min: answer was that«we just can’t control our estimates». Wow. Learn from your mistakes and run a restaurant like you care. Not going back.

This was a treat for us after spending some time shopping at the mall. We arrived and it was crowded but were able to sit within 20 minutes. We both ordered the mixed grill which consists of steak tips, crab cakes and blackened chicken. The tips were overcooked, I ordered medium rare, they were well done. The blackened chicken was inedible. I sent it back politely and they quickly brought out a new piece of chicken. Too quickly to have cooked it fresh. Better, but still not good. The only saving grace of the meal was the crab cakes. Delicious, soft, crabby amazing goodness. This was an expensive meal to not have had consistent, correctly cooked fresh food. Dissapointment.

Had an early dinner on New Years Eve. The atmosphere was festive with noise makers and other NYE paraphernalia. I ordered the featured fish, salmon with risotto. It was cooked exactly to my specifications, medium rare and it was delicious. Because we ate the crackers and cheese and a salad I did take some of the main course home. My partner had the surf and turf special of a filet of beef with 2 scallops and although pricey(37.00) he found it delicious and cooked perfectly. Being that it was a celebratory night, we shared a brownie sundae for dessert. It was a perfect size for 2 to share. Overall the atmosphere and food was perfect. My only complaint was that as our room filled up with other diners, our waitress was less attentive and we had wait a bit between courses. NO big thing. I would recommend this restaurant and will go again on a less hectic day.

I had a great experience here!!! I have multiple food allergies and they catered to every one of them. The restaurant manager personally served me. It was nice to be able to enjoy dinner out at a restaurant.

Best spot in town. Bar and lounge is a great place to hang out! Great food! They change it around every season. No drink specials besides half off on wine for the women on Wednesdays but they always change speciality drinks every season too! I suggest their beef Shepards cottage pie.

This place is always consistently good. Had fantastic service. Our waiter accidentally added an extra glass of wine to our bill and ran out to the parking lot to say they had taken it off, which we didn’t even notice. Quality of food is very good. Cheese plate and crackers to start off with are better than most restaurants. Atmosphere is colonial/early American with a farmhouse feel. Wood stove smell as you walk in adds to the ambience. White chocolate as an after dinner treat, for free, is a nice touch!

I like this place and particularly the old barn setting. On holidays they have special Sunday buffets and I love their dessert section.

We’ve had decent experiences at The Common Man, but never one quite this good. Our server was Tara and she was fantastic; courteous, friendly, and accomodating. They have just done their menu over, and we were ECSTATIC to see the HUGEGLUTEN-FREEMENU! We have never seen such a myriad array of gluten-free offerings, including three gluten-free desserts.(However, they all had dairy in them, so we could not do it. We would LOVE to see a gluten-free, dairy-free dessert.) They also had a squash spaghetti with vegetable dish, which thrilled me, because all too often we see gluten-free dishes made of rice flour, and sometime people cannot eat any type of grain, so this was a perfect solution to that problem! We ordered the gluten-free grilled chicken sandwich, spaghetti squash and veggie dish, swordfish, rice pilaf, mini-shrimp, and asparagus, and chicken tenders with french fries.(I have put up photos of all of them.) The grilled-chicken sandwich had a very spicy sauce on it, so unfortunately, we had to send it back. The waitress, Tara was very accomodating with this. The swordfish dish was tender and delicious, and I loved the spaghetti squash dish, and would like to make it at home. My daughter liked her chicken tenders. The french fries were the type that are thick slices of potato, so if you like«skinny» fries, these are not for you. We were in a rush, so we skipped dessert. Overall, we had such a positive experience here that we are more apt to make this one of our«top family restaurants.» What tipped it over to a 5 star, as opposed to a 4 star, was the wonderful gluten-free options. Great job, Common Man!!!

Very disappointed. We had eaten, Here a few times, but not on the past 8 – 10 years. Our overall service and food prep issues made this visit just barely 2 stars. Our server brought the wrong wine, and almost the wrong beer-and the«right» draft beer was flat. Water was rationed. I had to get a wait staff person to get refills 2x! Then 3 of 4 meals had issues: filet ordered med rare-served well done, our friends chic with pasta and asparagus was 95% pasta and zero asparagus, while my pricey seafood crock had no lobster. We asked for the asparagus and lobster, and we were told the seafood dish should have had 1 oz of lobster … Wow, no wonder it was almost $ 30!!! Sorry, but we won’t be going back to this Common Man location.

We dined at this location last night. It was great and it happened to be wine Wednesday(half priced bottles of wine). We’ve had other experiences with The Common Man locations. All good so far. WELOVETHISCHAIN. We eat at least at a location whenever in NH. What’s great is there are so many varieties in their restaurants. There are the Common Mans, upscale dining and diners. We were greeted by Mark right away. And then was seated afterwards(great room, very quite). The main area was loud(don’t forget, half priced bottles; they even had a valet person just for Wednesdays only). Melissa was our server. She was awesome, did not miss a beat(even though being followed by a shadow(another server in training). The Common Man offers complimentary crackers with dips. TOTALLYAWESOME and it’s UNLIMITED. When it was time, we ordered with house pinot grigio(good value at $ 10). And we had port tenderloin for our entrees. PORKTENDERLOIN $ 18(4.5÷5) We loved our dinners which came with two sides. The pork was moist and tender. Both sides were locally fresh; very delicious. And the apple slaw for the pork was awesome and tasted great. At the end of the meal, when you receive your bill, you’re given chunks of white chocolate as a departing gift. We had a great experience last night. Couldn’t have been better. They deserve a 5 star rating BUT the value keeps it from getting that. My review is actually a 4.5 star.

We came here for brunch. There’s Tons of parking. We were there as soon as they opened so there wasn’t a wait. The coffee and fresh squeezed oj were good. The breakfast sausage, the Belgium waffles, and the roast beef were all good. The eggs and the potatoes and pastries were terrible. They got super busy super quick so the waitress was sweet but didn’t check on us enough and forgot to refill coffees or the creamer a bunch of times. Thought it was ok for the price, but wouldn’t rush back here for brunch any time soon.

Great home cooked food, love how the place looks inside. The service was great and our experience was awesome here. We had lobster wraps and asparagus wrapped in phyllo dough for appetizers they were great. Crab cakes and pot roast were our main dishes and they were very good. We had crème brule for dessert and it was the best thing Eva.

It’s a classic, old time New England feel in this place. I’ve been here before for the breakfast buffet on Sundays which is decent with a large selection, though I’ve had better. The pub menu is where it’s at if you don’t want to break the bank with a selection of grassfed burgers(including bison) nachos, pizzas, soups and salads. The dinner entrée items were overpriced, as were the drinks. Chicken nachos and the Pork and Bessie Burger were favorites and they have great sweet potato fries. The service was inattentive and items were forgot that were ordered with no excuse because it was dead when we arrived and several waitstaff were standing around doing nothing by the front counter. All in all, it’s a decent menu, though not spectacular menu of slightly above average food, Due to the fact they are really the only place in Windham open somewhat late and with little competition in the area off Exit 3, they do quite well, but it’s not a restaurant I would travel to for grub, just if I was in the area.

Another New England classic that makes me miss living there. Common Man, with their cheeses and crackers before your meal, and the rustic setting and classic home cooked meals. Never had a bad meal at any of the locations, just hoping to get back one day.

I have to say, I really really wanted to give four stars — however, half a star isn’t possible. Heather, our server was AMAZING! At the ready to bring us what ever we needed! Didn’t visit the cracker area because I wasn’t too too hungry. Ordered the New England Beef Stew, holy portions! A huge meal! Tons of soft melt in your mouth beef and a mountain of garlic potatoes /paired with some lightly garlic buttered green beans. Perfect for a cold day esp with the décor. Had a nice feel inside, warm and welcoming and so many nifty things in the front. And would be an amazing stop in the wonder if they use the fire place! Definitely willing to give this place another try!

Aptly named comfort food style restaurant. Recommended by the bf’s dad. Upstairs bar seemed more a local watering hole than the upstairs of a restaurant. I could of stayed there and enjoyed my night. But bf doesn’t like sitting at the bar for dinner. BOO! But he did like the free self serve cheese and cracker snacks. I liked the very nice portioned glass of brown liquor and nice bartender who gave it to me. Seated downstairs after our little doohicky lit up like a Christmas tree telling us our table was ready. Good size menu with many options. I’m on a Prime rib kick. Yummy, cooked perfectly and with side of no carb broccoli instead of mashed. A great Keto dinner to keep on my diet. Sidenote– They have paid valet parking but it seemed unnecessary in my opinion.
